I hold my 2000 KX250 in high regards! I loved the low to mid pull, it was long wide and stable.... essentially everything MXA said that was bad I loved. That was the bike that I bought after my 98 CR250 made me loose faith in Honda. I was a decent local B guy and my KX is what allowed me to make the jump to the A class... I still sucked pretty bad as a racer but I loved that bike!

My 03 CRF450. I had it revalved by a guy who used to be part of FC’s race team and I could have sworn it was works suspension it was so good. You could jump a mountain to flat land and it was like butter.

1997 yz 125. I had the confidence to do more things on that bike than any other. It had good broad power for a 125 and excellent handling. I couldn't get comfortable on any other 125 I've owned strangely because my style of riding is really not great for it, but the 97 yz worked for me.

Best: 2011 RMZ450. 2012-2014 I peaked at moto

Worst: 2002 CR250. I hated that bike!

2017 YZ250X. Off road trail slayer. At 50 yrs old it's probably my last dirt bike.

Favorite: 17 CRF450RX. Just is a Swiss Army knife for me, can ride Moto, trails, and race hare scrambles all with just a couple clicker adjustments.

Worst: 03 CRF450r. Just never jived with it.

Best- 1998 YZ125, 02 CRF450, 2018 TX300, 2019 KTM350SXf.


Worst- 1999 RM250, 2013 KTM450SXf. Both of these bikes were terrible due to how horrifically unreliable they were.

2001 YZ125 and 2008 CRF450R were probably the two best bikes I've ever owned.

The worst bike I've ever owned was a 16 YZ450F. It wasn't that it was unreliable or anything, I just absolutely hated the way that bike handled.

Best bike I ever owned 1993 cr 250 honda. I raced it for 9 years.I rode my buddies new yz's and kx's every year when the got new ones,and didnt see any reason to part with the old 93.
2nd best bike was my 1970 Yamaha DT1. I bought it with my own money at 14 yrs old, got my first trophy on it in 1971. That trophy still sits on my mantel.

Best bike is my 18 250sx with the 300sxs kit, I'm hoping that my 19 that I just finished is even better! Worst was my 85 yz490, I regretted that purchase as soon as I rode it! Lol

Way before orange was cool, I won a lot of races on this bike in 05-06. 2005 KTM525mxc, bought it cause it had a button. Haha

There was a lot of Red on the gate those days and I was one of them. ‘87 CR 250. Bike did everything well and ran even better when I put a Pro Circuit pipe on it.

Plenty of moto pics, but this beautiful setting at Clear Creek OHV brings back some fond memories too.

05 and 07 Honda crf450’s. Amazing reliable bikes.

Agree with Herb. '81 RM125 was a total game-changer.

1993 KX250. Awesome bike, raced it a lot with good success. Easy to ride, but still fairly fast for the era. 2001 CR250R. Great power, amazing suspension, chassis that won't deflect--the peak of old-school two strokes imo. 2019 TX300. Lightest, fastest off road 300 we are likely to see for a while as it's the one and only year that got the newest chassis, moto suspension, and lighter carb'd motor. Also have to throw the XR650R out there. In 2010, I bought a used, 10yr old version on craigslist, put it in the truck, then raced it IronMan in Vegas to Reno for a 5th overall (unsupported--no tire changes, carried all my own air filters, tools, etc.), then spent a couple weeks bumming around baja on it, then a month touring UT and CO, all with nothing but oil, air filter, and tire changes. It's not light nor does it have a ton of peak power, but it never gives up, finds traction where 450s spin up, and has a couple mph on the top end on JCR and team KTM 450s of the era. It's also happy to run on sketchy baja fuel from milk jugs.

I had/have two favorites. I had a 87 CR 125 back in 94.
That little motor would just sing on the pipe. The only discouraging thing about it was the lock to lock bar swap when letting off a wide open throttle. My grandfather bought it for me as a high school graduation gift. Unfortunately, it got stolen.

I really enjoy my current bike. It’s a 01 CR 250. I’ve never liked having to make payments on anything (cause you never know) so I bought a low hour bike in Nov 2017. Original front and rear tires, chain and sprockets. Tailored it to my needs. Replaced everything with new OEM or aftermarket. I wanted to make it as new as possible. I loved the old CRs as a kid. Going to dealerships in 85 I could just stare at them forever.

I wrecked pretty bad in the Mojave desert in 95.
I took several years off riding. After getting back into the sport I’ve owned a few KX 250s, a CR 500 and now this bike. Although I miss my 500 and regret selling it, it wasn’t a good woods bike since moving to Washington.
Knowing myself as a clown play riding (check out squidliest moments) I just wanted something I could just have fun on since getting hurt racing isn’t an option. I did the best I could and pieced this together. Nothing too special. Just something special for me.

1986 CR125, second was 2003 YZ450.

94 kawi 250👌 best suspension by a mile for time. Really free reving engine that was fast, handled good and looked bitching. What more could you want.

Honda MR50. it got the ball rolling.

Great bike that I owned for 3 years. When it was time, made it so easy for me to buy a '98 KX250. The '94 and '98 were very similar, but the '98 was a bit beefier in suspension(bigger fork) and motor. One caveat, I did replace the rear progressive spring on the '98. Progressive rear spring was amazing in small chatter, but did not hold in deep rollers or massive hits.

Sometimes the stars align at the right time!
For me 09 Yz450f, was magical at the time !
Next was a 16 yz250x,
Now I’m hoping the 20 kx450 wil be!

Great bike.. I remember riding there@ the creek with a guy on the 1987 CR250 that Rick Ryan won the daytona supercross on. He bought it from Matson after the season. Motor had some cool internal mods done by a guy from your town... Sacramento.

Two best bikes I had were a 1995 Kx80BW. That bike stock could smoke any other 80 at the time, it was even heads and shoulders faster than my mates same year KX80, it felt like cheating. The other was a 2000 YZ250, that bike just did everything well and I really enjoyed racing that thing for a few years until I made the major mistake on trading it in on a YZ426F.....we just didn't get on.

18 FC250. basically stock. never stalled, chugged like a 2stroke woods bike, great power everywhere and revved out great, light, awesome chassis, smooth motor loved it. sold it last week like a retard.
or my 19 150xcw that I also stupidly sold after I got hurt last yr. could do everything exceptionally well the way I had it setup.

I've mentioned it before, but my 2001 RM125 was my favorite bike. I know at this point it's pure nostalgia (I was young and it was indeed a good bike).... But I've not had that "magical" feeling on a dirtbike since.

No thought needed for me on this one: '81 RM250. I'd been riding RM's since '78, a new one every year. Each was slightly better than the year before, but the first Full Floater was a quantum leap. Definitely way ahead of every other 250 that year. I'd done 8 years of racing without an overall win, but went 1/1 at my first race on that bike, and throughout that year did consistently better than I ever had. Finally got out of the novice class. So, maybe it was the bike's fault all those prior years? No, guess not 😂

Haven't heard much love for the YZ426 but my 2001 model was just fantastic. That bike suited me perfectly, in addition it was blazing fast and easy to ride, just stand up and let it eat. Not the best turning bike ever but it railed the outsides like no other. After suspension work and set up it just became even more incredible.
