There is a world wide problem for riders that has been pro’s and now just want to race for fun. If you have been fast once upon a time, there is a good chance that 90% of your max speed will stay with you for MANY years. Even 10 years after i stopped racing as a pro I could not line up and race a VET or Vintage class without complaints from others that i did not belong there. unofficial speculation from other un named mechanics at Lommel is that electronics and sensors are possibly getting fried due to the extreme load placed on the bike from the 84. small army of Honda technicians were with Jeffery all day on Wednesday at Heerde in NL conducting electronics testing - apparently they were live streaming data to HRC Japan while Herlings was doing long motos. Im told JH is very hard on the bike, apparently they have not had to deal with this level of wear and tear on the motors before he came to the team.

I’ve been coming to Lommel for a few years now, and I’ve seen the amazing speed of Lucas and Kay in person, but the total domination I saw from Herlings Sunday was nothing short of incredible. His bike broke during Saturday qualifying twice, but he still managed fast time and a win despite the problems. His Sunday performance in the motos was Jett Lawrence x2- no active rider on this earth would have gotten near him, Lawrence’s or Coenen or Prado or even Tomac in his prime. There is a reason Everts doesnt really have a place in the paddock any more, and today probably showed why. Awesome rider, one of, or possibly the best ever, but not a people person .

I look at him as an anomaly. He loves grinding and to crush people's souls. He's RC without the ability to stay healthy but also doesn't seem to be burning out. This is probably because he feels he left so much on the table due to injury. He's been the best rider since he moved up. His competition is himself and it still seems to motivate him. Guy is arguably the gnarliest to ever do it.

JH84 is an anomaly, even at top level dirt bike riding. He’s was the fastest rider on sand at 15 and now he’s 31. In between he was the fastest rider on any surface for a few years. I struggle with the fact if Lucas would have anything for him last Sunday and Coenen is a generational talent. If the bullet wasn’t injury prone he would smashed all outdoors records by now. I feel privileged we can still enjoy him.

Herlings might love riding more than anyone else at his level and age. I imagine he'll keep going for so long as he remains healthy and competitive enough to win GPs/titles

IDK man, on capability I don't see a consistent challenger on the horizon with Lucas going to US. Like RC, I imagine he could choose to go out on top, but that won't be known until he wants to share it with us. KDW may have moments where he bests Jeffrey in the future, but Lommel as his (and unfortunately for KDW - Jeffery's) best shot. Gasjer is way off the mark. Would anyone really challenge him next year? I don't think so. Maybe for a race here or there, but across the season I think he'd be by far the best. HRC should have the bike a little more refined too.

He's in by far his best form since 2021. He is actually is super consistent, gets the best starts he ever had on the Honda, looks less sketchy in general. If it weren't for his DNFs or Lucas, we would talk about how this is the best Herlings we have seen since 2018. With Lucas gone next year there is nobody who has anything for him in a championship barring injury. I don't see him quitting in the next 2-3 years. He could still win 1 or 2 titles after this year.
