Sorry if this has been discussed, I looked for it and didn't see anything.

Anyway, wtf is going on with the audio level for tv programming? During the races you can barely hear the commentary that's going on for the background bike volume.

Then, during the interviews, you can't make out what they are saying at times due to crowd noise and echo from the stadium interview volume.

I'm tuning out if I'm a new tv viewer if I can't hear what they are saying about the racers to get me up to speed.

The less people here Ralph poorly sensationalize every little thing, the better.

Under normal circumstances. I can understand what Ferrnadis says, however During the interview. It makes it very hard to make out what he saying.

It's because the gold app sucks. Qualifying is like watching tv in the 70"s. The race seems to be pretty good but I do have to really crank the volume up louder than any other channel or show

It's not the app. I watch on nbcsports network thru hulu live and it's the same.

I haven’t noticed this on the gold app but my buddy who watches it on TV mentioned once that he could barely hear over the bikes but his tv is pretty old

It's been like that for a while, my only guess is that Feld has it mixed like that so it feels more "live" on TV. Turn the stadium mics down when they're talking damnit... we know the bikes are loud. Which brings me back to the point that the TV production crew needs fired.

How can people say this app sucks?? You get qualifying and the races, replays, SX and outdoors. A lot better than having nothing or watching it next day.

Do you have a surround sound system? Have you checked all the audio controls? It sounds like a channel issue because I've watched the races on different TVs at different places and have never noticed an audio issue

I can say it sucks because the quality of qualifying is really bad. It;s like watching tv with rabbit ears. The night show quality is 10 times better for some reason. I don't have any other channel or app that does this on a weekly basis

I haven’t had the problem, but I think you’ve nailed a potential issue. I use surround and have had problems on various programs with the dialogue until I check the output format. I think this happens when the receiver is doing on the fly conversion from the native audio format. If this is the issue for the OP, please tell me what output format you are using as I’d like to hear less of the race time comments. If you can get it to just calm down Ralph a few decibels that would be the best of all worlds. Evil

The way people complain about the commentary I assumed that the problem was that you could hear it.

That's a good observation. You might be on to something.

Ralph/Ricky appear to have effect on viewers even with their reduced volume level. Add in 4-Stroke Flatulence and answer the following:

1. Are there sounds that you cannot tolerate, even if the sound is soft? Yes / No

2. Do you instantly have a response to the sound that starts with irritation or disgust and almost immediately becomes anger? Yes / No

Answer Yes to both questions? Whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

Mine is like that some races, adjusting the audio on the tv helps some but other weeks it’s terrible.

I do not have surround sound. I have just listening on a 55" tv. Over not attempted to adjust any volume options because my tv sounds fine when watching any other program and I don't feel I should have to adjust it for one show.

I've notice this over the last several races so it's not anything new or a one off.

I’ve watched on both the app and Comcast cable and noticed the same thing. The stadium noise is so loud that it makes it real tough to hear what anyone is saying.

I was going to say the same thing for Oakland, I couldn’t hear anything Reed was saying in the booth.

Omg wasn't that just awful.. I can honestly say I didn't hear one word Reed said, literally. Not sure if they had his mic turned down or what.

This is totally first world problems right here: "What!? You mean I may have to adjust something so it works better?! I would have to pickup the remote and aim it at the TV while making a custom audio setup that in the future I could just select with the push of a button and not have to adjust. All this while not getting off my ass, fuck no, not happening bro. Instead I'm going to write a complaint on an unrelated website that takes way more time than just setting up an sound profile on my TV!"
