Man phase of posting here Jay but there’s an ocean between a robot with no personality and how Joey is.

I don't know about the other motos, but first moto at thunder he went down hard. Was standing right next to it.

Is no one putting themselves in his place where he is right now? Imagine going thru all the shit he’s dealt with is his career for the past few years. I’d be pissed too! If the stuff about the monster cup is true it makes me less a fan of Eli more than ever. Straight up bullshit.

I don't dislike the kid (I'm not a fan, either), but what has he been through in the past couple of years that he didn't do to himself?

I'm not one to talk shit on pro riders, but if Eli seriously didn't say "Thank you" for a million dollar gift... That's not cool in my book. Glad my boy chose to run 94 after Roczen was super nice to him at Highpoint this year. I was about to put a 3 that he wanted on the bike before Highpoint.

I like him as a racer, he did great in SX and if he was healthy and bike wouldn’t dnf he would have done well outdoors too.

But that interview was way too negative. He cares too much what others think.

Complained about AC, Kawi lack of outdoor testing, testing the bike for AC next year, Kawi announcing AC deal early, Eli, Eli not saying thank you for MEC, not giving him a bonus, not giving him congrats on baby and I’m sure there’s more...

Anyone here think that Tomac possibly thinks he was going to get Savatgy at MEC anyway? I mean, we are all buying into Joey's narrative on how it played out, but Tomac was charging hard that moto. If Eli really thinks he was going to get him anyway, why pay him or thank him for nothing.

Just devil's advocate.

Maybe Tomac was worried that Monster or whoever was paying the million would claim the race was fixed and look for an out on paying up. Maybe he couldn't pay Joey because he would be admitting the race was fixed and hence no pay day.

Tomac made enough money over the years to give Joey something from his bankaccount.

Nobody would have know that.

OK I finally got through this painful interview to the end. This further reinforces to me that Joey is just a whiny negative guy when he's in front of a camera or a microphone. In this episode he blows out Eli, but says he didn't expect money or thanks, but then wanted money and thanks. WTF dude, make up your mind. Then he dances around pissing off Roczen and that's why Honda didn't sign him. Takes a few backhanded swings at Kawi, who gave him a factory ride when CHAMPIONS like Bogle and Wilson did not get a ride for the start of 2019.

Honestly it's a bit much to sympathize with him....and I hope Tomac just lays him out hard in a heat race now that he doesn't have to share a pit with him.

Quick synopsis since I know few people will listen to a 90 minute talk between the two of us.

He explained the last Moto of the Monster Energy Cup, from gate pick to move over to the relationship between he and Tomac after. Per Joey, he was not paid a cut of the million dollars the way everyone assumed. Said with the way things played out in the months that followed he regrets the decision and would not do it again. That’s discussed 33 minutes in all the way to the the commercial break.

The second half talks about his relationship with Adam (cordial but not close friends), how it felt to have the 2020 team announcement come midway through the summer, and what he plans to do if a contract isn’t signed by Monster Cup or the three international races he is on the entry list for.

I’ll type out the key parts for a post on the site tomorrow for those that would rather read.
I don't think a transcription is going to read well.

True. This was once early on in the development of a brand now bike. In my opinion, happening once doesn’t warrant someone saying “all the bike failures”. He had other issues that he said in the interview were caused by wrecks from him riding over his head. Kawi didn’t screw Joey. He knew he was signing on for one year to help develop a brand new bike and would be replaced by AC. He can bitch about it but his situation definitely was not a surprise. As for the ET $ thing, I️’d like to hear ETs side of the story.

he seems like a very conflicted young man...he flits back and forth between negativity and positivity, often contradicting himself. Almost like he knows what he "should" do or say and catches himself when he says something inconsistent with his world view.

Regardless of what happens in his moto career, I hope he surrounds himself with positive people and figures stuff out.

I think he needs a big change. Like get away from the goat farm, new circle of support everything.
Given his present circumstances, it certainly would seem prudent to "cut the fat" so to speak. Having O'show, Jeannie, Ricky, The Farm, etc. as expenses with minimal income can't be good.

I agree that he needs a change if scenery...and some positive influences around him.

People were quick to write Webb off as well. "The cream always rises to the top".

At Thunder Alley he said he wrecked in Moto 1 because he was out of shape and fighting the bike. Spent 2nd. moto testing settings and making changes. The bike did not fail. In the 2nd moto at Millville he said he made a poor line choice and got stuck in the mud. The bike did not fail him. This was what his year was like. He wrecked and ripped his foot peg off. He wrecked and banged up his radiators. My point is simply that Joey had a rough year but it wasn’t Kawis fault.

He said in the interview that second moto at Washougal his header pipe broke. Once again, not a Kawi issue.

Never been a fan of his but he does speak some truth in there. I would have said the same stuff about Tomac short of "fuck that guy". Also, his example with Dean Wilson doing fun videos working for Dean but if he did the same thing then people would probably bash him (probably accurate). I think he should end up at JGR and put in some work IMO...

He has that..."poor ole me attitude" and could definitely benefit from some PR coaching. Guy's like Brayton, AC, Roczen, Dungey are Master's of their game.

Crabby interview. I believe that JS is without a doubt the rider without a factory ride that is most deserving. Based on his performance on the track, he should be on factory equipment with no questions asked. Will he help sell bikes? I think so. It just goes to show how important public image is these days.

To correct a prior summary about the interview that wasn’t accurate/complete...

He made clear he did not expect any money from the million. He DID lose money himself out of his kawi bonus and purse by moving over. (Not a lot to Eli (I.e. millionaire) but a significant amount to him and probably a TON to you or I. He was never even reimbursed that. Yeah he didn’t expect it but fuck yea then I would blow off steam about it if it were me. Also, if he didn’t move over...imagine the hate only Joey would get from the internet.

He also said he never got a thank you from Eli despite Eli’s family and mechanic doing so.

For people calling him bitter or cry baby. Remember he gave someone a gift and it took a good deal of money out of his own pocket. He is being honest and open....which is refreshing.

And people picking apart his words in prior replies on here....Jesus. You’re just fishing for reasons to give him shit.

I’m a 100% bigger fan after this interview. He obviously puts in the work, and big in my book, is he isn’t wasting opportunities given to him. Can’t say that about everyone.

He made clear that he was never comfortable on the Kawi. I hope JGR offers him a ride, I think he would do well...he's got the talent. Shitty ordeal from the Tomacs.

Seems to me Osborne smashed the cream container all over the track in Vegas 2017....

Anyone who thinks Tomac is a prick is okay in my books.

I would have fallen off my chair if Tomac actually did thank him.
