I’m pretty sure anyone who’d paint their pipe red like that only knows the names Seth, Ronnie, and Twitch...

For those watching closely. What parts did DV toss in that trash can.
Grips, throttle tube (broken), crappy aftermarket clutch perch, disc/caliper guards, both chain guides, bars (the dude had to crash hard on asphalte. They were grinded bad), fork guards. I didn't throw the plastics away cuz they weren't any 😂. Wheels will be going in the trash. I'm gonna keep the discs though. I didn't take the front disc off yet, I don't have torx wrenches (someone had to borrow them and didn't bring them back).

I'm always looking for a deal bro 😂

The bike isn't bad at all. They never took the cylinder and head off. Stock sticker on swingarm. It will turn out pretty sweet for a pretty limited budget

He figured it out after 15 minutes. He actually delivered it to me because I don't have a truck. He took a photo of me with the bike for his dad and his buddies. Before he knew who I was, he asked me if I knew how to work on those things. I looked at him with a are-you-serious-bro look

I want a clean stock look, FMF pipe, PC silencer, stock graphics, black seat, a few carbon parts I bought in eBay.. I'm gonna go beg for (or most likely buy) suspensions and other parts at Star next week like wheels, clamps. I'd like to put some updated 250F stock forkson it with stock triple clamps. So far, I'm getting parts from Hinson, Pro Taper and Michelin tires. I haven't asked anyone for parts, they offered when they saw I was working in a POS bike 😂

Hell yeah DV. Did you pull any measurements on the frame to see how much it has stretched or if anything was tweaked like that? Something I always wonder about these older steel frame bikes that have been tossed around a bit. That thing seems to have been ran through the gutter!

Excited to see the bike finished!

Miss my 03. When I got mine in 2013, the engine had never been apart, sold it in 2016, engine still had never been apart, bullet proof. Miss my 03. Smile

Could you please tell us why you are going to run a FMF with PC silencer? I think this has come up before, but I dont remember a reason.

Hi DV.

Just for info, it was a bit tricky so if it helps a little, it was quite a few years ago but if i remember correctly:
the complete front of the yzf will mount easily, but with the yzf stock clamps the lenght of the bike will be a bit shorter, which you may not like as you are tall (and you won't be able to turn fully without touching the radiators), imo yzf aftermarket clamps may work better.

Also, if you keep the current yz clamps, then the yzf fork tubes diameters at the top will be too small, so you will need a recent yz stock top clamp.

Otherwise, between brackets ; the complete back of the yzf will mount as well (except the rear shock - here a stock semi or factory 2010 2013 yzf 250 shock would fit perfectly if i remember well), it is a little improvement but it won't look stock or factory replica anymore. The yzf rear wheel alone won't fit at all. And the yzf front wheel will be need the spacers and another bearing because they changed the diameter 2 or 3 years ago (a yzf front wheel from 2014-6 should mount directly with the yzf spacers - 2010-13 i am 100% sure). I am just saying that because you may find yzf parts more easily ; these yzf parts are also a bit lighter, not that it matters much anyway.

Good luck!

Could have been worse. He could have told you: "If you have never ridden a 250 2 stroke take it easy, this isn´t for beginers"

At one point in time I had Showa A-kit on an 03 YZ. Pretty sure it is on the only kit in existence, as it never went into production. Sold it a few years ago. No idea where it is now, but i t would have been sweet on your bike.

I didnt read this entire thread, so is Cobra in for Straight Rhythm on the restored roach?

If so, someone set up a GoFundMe and lets all chip in to see DV12 line up.

Reminds me of the basket case 2000 YZ 250 i bought for $500 and restored about 6 years ago ...

From this:

To this:

Blue powder coated frame looks so awesome on the old steelies!

Even had this super rare Noleen pipe!

Unfortunately, during my move from NJ to California in 2015, the moving truck caught on fire and the bike was complete destroyed..... I miss that bike. It was so fun to ride. Had a fresh ESR 345cc kit in it as well.

DV said that he's not racing straight rhythm and that he's done with racing.

Don't be so surprised. I have a friend who was a quite successful local pro who truly didn't know how to tighten his chain. Dad did all the work on his bikes.
