Yeah, I'm sure that's it. Or I don't suck his cock like the rest of you.

Is it just me or is the circumstances so so strange. It’s linked in a really strange way from the Instagram account and then it goes to a fake Seven YouTube channel with no other videos and is completely different to the official announcement clip that JS7 originally posted. It’s almost like someone has gotten hold of the raw footage that was only ever gonna be used for audio and hacked the seven Instagram to post it.... it’s very fishy
Actually I watched it, this one is clearly intentional but still weird circumstances.

I guess they don’t want to associate SevenMX with hating racing and hating the compound.

He always thought he coukd wax those guys. Ricky didnt think that. He went out tongive 110% to wax those guys. That is why ricky is the bigger champion. James had greater talent but the lesser mental game.
Well first he was talking about riding the 2 stroke, Second if you don’t think you can win at the gate. Then your a lapper. You don’t think Chad or Ricky didn’t think that. IMOP James got cheated. Had he got to race 2 strokes longer, RC would not of won those last few titles.

Big James fan but he leaves so many holes in his stories. He raced in 2016 but has only been to the compound 3 times in 3 years. Did the man not say he was planning on racing in 2017 as well ? Powdered donuts and sugar water really ??

Did you guys hear on the Pulp Review show on Monday, them talking about he had the option of a certain amount of Monster stocks to stay with them instead of Red Bull, and now those stocks would be worth like 85 Million!?
Yeah sounded like he made the wrong call there. Think that and Fish might have contributed to the Blue move too...

There is normal pressure than there is having to be perfect pressure. The latter can crush a person's spirit and sap the joy out of anything. He was even worried about how he looked, body-wise.
It makes me sad that he doesn't even want to ride a dirt-bike anymore, but not surprising. Hopefully he can rediscover the joy of just riding again one day.

Not to mention the pressure of providing for your family at 16 years old. Guy was under so much pressure I get his resentment for the sport. I hope someday he can come back and enjoy the sport. He's earned his retirement.
He needed a sports psychiatrist.. every title from 2007-2011 should have been his easily. The years after Ricky should of been a cake walk but I just don’t think the focus was there maybe?
SX only deal in 2009? -He had Chad Reed handled outdoors no problem.
2010 and 2011 I think the Yamaha slowed him up a bit.
2012 outdoors he crashed at Thunder valley. Prob should of had that C’ship..
Ideally he should of retired around this point.

Also if he hated the sport so much why come back after suspension ?? Was it forced by Suzuki?

He is one of the greats of the sport for sure. I wish he was happier. Hope to see him at Loretta’s one day!

I love these videos, like others have said he gives great insight.

One thing I thought interesting: video 1 he says, “I don’t know why Tomac isn’t winning everything”. Video 2 he says he hated that people thought he should win every time, and they were asking him ‘what happened?’ If he finished second.

Paraphrasing a bit, but it appeared that he attributed his negative feelings and resentment of the sport to that pressure in the long run. Then he says he expects Tomac to do the same thing.

Like others mentioned, you can see and hear the internal struggles the guy has. He goes from hating racing and the smell of the gas and dirt.. to the ‘I’m fat now’ bit and then immediately back to “I might race Loretta’s or start riding once this video comes out”. I hope he figures it out and lives a happy life, he deserves it for all of the joy he’s brought me in my life (and I assume millions of others).

I did get the impression that he will let his kids make the decisions on their own if they want to ride or race ever. Hard to tell if he has any external pressures helping him make the decision to not ride or race at all anymore.

His take on Malcolm’s situation shed so much light, answered many questions and confirmed or denied many inferences I have seen people make on his little brother.

I still hope this interview series ends with a badass documentary flick kinda like the first teaser on James’s instagram insinuated! Legend of the sport, I wish everyone could have experienced the sport when James raced.

In an extremely low key way I can relate to what he’s saying about hating the compound. From the time I was 5 until 13 and took up mx, my life was all about baseball. My dad helped run the local organization, we mowed the fields, and I had to practice every fucking day after school whether we had practice or not. I lived at those fields half the year. My dad was so into it. All stars would drag out through the summer. I fucking hated baseball. I hated the smell of cut grass until I was about 30. If I was at batting practice my dad would throw the balls at my feet if I didn’t want to hit that day. We would get into it when I wasn’t feeling like playing. I can’t stand fucking baseball and didn’t even let my own kid play growing up because I couldn’t step a foot on those dumbass fields. So I can only imagine that pressure x 100000000. Explains so much about him for me and disappearing from the sport. I really hope he can find peace with it all one day and actually enjoy riding again. Such a shame he feels that way. Will always be a fan of him either way.

Bottom line for all of the guys who have been dominant-there is a shorter life span for all of them because the pressure to win just gets old as hard as that is to believe. Only the rare few in any sport that have won a lot can appreciate the challenge and the constant pressure of winning. James was a special talent and amazing to watch. Hope the guy can find some peace and begin to just enjoy dirt biking for what it is supposed to be for the other 99%.

More interesting than episode 1. A few observations...

He beat RC on powdered donuts? When was that? RC beat him 4 out of 4 and was also beating him in the 5th series before he retired.

Also a bit sad he is still blaming the 2 stroke. He raced RC on a 4 stroke plenty of times and still came up short. Also got beat by RV and RD on a 4 stroke. The 2005 rmz450 was a bit of a turd but RC made it work.

I appreciate the part about pressure. That must have been tough and you can hear the emotion in his voice even now. It's a shame he couldn't embrace that pressure and thrive on it in the way guys like Tiger Woods have done. It seems he let it destroy him and he is still not over it.

The interview was strange. Humility and humour mixed with a sprinkling of arrogance and denial. Interesting though.

At Budds the year he went perfect on the 125, which by the way was poetry in motion, I got a glimpse.

It's between motos, at the Stewart motor home. Big James is holding court with a slew of mini dads, telling them how they made it. The crowd hanging around is all buzzing, high on just what they had witnessed. Like they were part of it or something. The announcer is going on and on over the loudspeaker on what a great exhibition of riding skill we just witnessed blah blah blah.

Its like a mini festival or something.

And then there's James.

He's sitting on the step of the motor home, in the doorway. Still in dirt caked gear. Head almost between his knees, staring at the ground.

Half heartedly I raise the Nikon. Just as I take the shot he looks up, directly into the camera.

I tell u guys, what came thru the viewfinder when I checked it later on confirmed the feeling I had when I took the shot. The look on his face...... I dunno.
It was that forlorn animal caged at the zoo, mixed with the guy disgusted with his crappy job at work.

I remember thinking, that's success?

Still feel guilty for taking that shot. Never downloaded it. Left it on a SIM card that's sitting in a drawer somewhere, where it belongs.

I love hearing this stuff from James. I love that he is being so introspective and I really hope he finds his love for riding again. I also think (as I've said many times) that he would be awesome in the SX booth.

I was just listening to a podcast with RC.

"I'm not sure I ever had any fun racing"
It was always a grind and I didnt really ride anything other than tracks.

Seems like Florida isn't a good area for just riding and having fun like the California guys have in the hills in winter.

When you see how much fun and excitement James had in his eyes and voice during interviews in his 125 days, it is a massive shame to hear him have his current opinion about hating certain aspects.

If only there was a repeat button so we could be treated to the 2002/3/4 seasons over and over again.

I’d love to the see that shot. No sense in hiding it away, that’s what photography is all about if we’re talking about it as an art: displaying true emotion frozen in a moment in time.

I hear so much arrogance. He thinks he knows so much more about how everyone feels. Its sad that he didn't enjoy more of it. Honestly as a father with a son who races, it makes me angry that his parents didn't help him with life balance more. He put the pressure on himself and then didn't know how to deal with it. I loved watching him ride, but he sounds like a complete headcase. Hopefully he is finding some balance and inner peace in retirement and parenthood.

Are you serious? You don't get to that level with life balance and nurturing parents. You get there because you, and your parents, are hungry.

Mike Tyson did a podcast with Joe Rogan a few months ago and mentions that his son told him he wanted to box. Mike's response was (while laughing): "You're stupid. You go to private school. You take European vacations. You want to get in the ring with someone like me? Some animal? You're stupid."
We aren't allowed to be this blunt with our kids anymore. We have to tell them they can be anything they want to be and hand them everything along the way so there's no hardships so it's all sunshine and rainbows. Hardships are what make a person stronger. If you've never dealt with adversity and it slaps you in the face when you get into the real world, you have no clue what to do and break down mentally. You already see it now with the millennials slowly entering the real world. Hardships are why Carmichael, villopoto, Stewart, Reed, and dungey were able to do what they did and never break mentally.

I respect James more after that interview. I was always a huge fan, but I sure don't blame him for walking away when it just got to be "too much", and he didn't have to prove anything to anybody. And the way he talks about being a father, the way Big James raised him (right or wrong) and how he appreciates it shows what kind of a man he is. I'd love to see James ride, but only if he's doing it to have fun and not having to be "Bubba". I'd like to see a big smile on his face like you see on RV's face when he's riding now...now that he's not expected to win everything, and is having fun.

What up with all the name calling in this thread? James is giving us his insights into how he felt about racing and his life now, and the thread has turned into mudslinging. This is where I think the idea of, if you don’t have something nice to say, then don’t say anything applies.

As for James, who knows but I suspect one day he’ll get back o his bike with no pressure and enjoy riding again. Lots of former factory pros stopped riding for long periods after they stopped racing.

Like most have said, James is forever the best I've ever seen swing a leg over a bike. One of a kind, never to be repeated. Hope he finds peace and lives a happy life dedicated to his family.

Kind of amusing: The other night on instagram, I went down a rabbit hole watching wheelie boyz/12 oclock videos, and there was this kid, he's in movies or something.. Anyway, I was scrolling through the comments, and one of the first ones, a guy says "the best to ever on a dirt bike" First reply was something along the lines of "ummm, Bubba stewart, nobody compares" And the following comments were guys trying to argue how supercross doesn't even compare to "stuntin, or doing wheelies down the road" and James could never do what this kid does.. The level of ignorance toward James on the internet is unreal.

If you didn't watch Bubba ride in person when he was racing a 2 stroke, you'll never understand.

Thank you James, for all the times you made my jaw drop, or jump out of my seat, and just plain stretching that cable as long as you could. It was truly a pleasure watching you ride kid..

Apparently all the same dude.

All I know is that he's not well liked around this place and for good reasons.

That video made me lose respect for him. Unpopular opinion I know. The factories and sponsors invested millions of dollars into a guy that apparently hated his every day life. Has to make them wonder if he really gave it everything he had to be the best. He said it himself he raced Ricky on donuts and sugar water. If I was someone paying him I’d be like, Really?

You think any of the current racers are learning from the retired guys like Villo, RC, and stew? hearing them talk about how much they hated things has to help bring some perspective in regards to burn out. Makes me appreciate Roczens attitude even more especially with the injuries he’s had
