no, JP$ said in review podcast he *thought* his ACL was done based on the amount of pain he was in from the rhythm section impact. said if it defrains from dislocating when he's riding, he could be OK, but if it ever does, he's done. it basically dislocated when he tried to go back out.

he's likely done.

I think he is done for SX. Even if they could wrap him up, tape him up, and armorize him, he would still have to go through qualifiers and face a hard-charging Sexton and Cooper in the mains. With the current point gap, not worth the addtional damage to his knee.

I agree with this.

Unless they can perform a miracle on him but based on how painful it appeared and the way he acted I think he's toast.

Who is good at stats? Over the years how many riders on average have their outdoors series basically ruined by an injury from the "Circus Series"

It will continue because thats where the money is.

I don't think you'll see him again this season.

It depends tho. I've done my ACL 4 time s, each time has been different. If you can get the swelling down . And it stays in its socket when riding he could get away with it for two races. But he is one dab away from huge swelling and popping out . I did a full year without an ACL with not much problem s bar the swelling. Another time I did it , and I couldn't walk a day without it popping out . No way could I ride a bike . I do think we will see him try . Whether it goes well or not is hard to know. As far as doing more damage, I wouldn't be to worried about that . He ll need a full reconstruction anyway if it's an ACL.

The way he landed on and sort of twisted his leg in the wreck definitely looked like it could of torn his ACL/MCL. I thought since he went back out for the next practice he maybe just sprained it but when he had to pull off the track from slightly overjumping the rhythm section....that knee has to be torn.

I'm really hoping it is just a sprain and he can return to try and wrap this title up but it doesn't look very good. If he somehow does return, even at a fraction of his former speed, I think he'd be able to hold on to the title. Davalos seems to finally be healthy and ready to compete for wins which could really help Forkner by minimizing any points Sexton & Cooper get.

JP$ is Jessica Patterson. And JT$ is Jason Thomas.

Weird to think, that PC could be with no titles in 2019 neither on the west nor east coast. what an unpredictable season..

Is AC not healthy? He is in the points lead.

Yeah, but that once comfy 15 points gap is now down to 5 and his biggest competition has won the last 2 races...Momentum shifting.

Hope AC pulls it off. I hope somehow, someway hope Forkner does too. I'm neutral on Forkner (don't particularly cheer for or root against him), but with how he has ridden he deserves the title.

If Sexton or Cooper win the title, which I expect them to now, it will be deserved, but will have to about feel the way Bogle probably did when AC and Marty both crashed out of the SX title a few years back. I would certainly take the paycheck and be glad to have the title, but wouldn't feel like I deserved it. That's just me though.

Yeah I know, but its only a five point gap to Ferrandis, and with two rounds to go and one being a showdown it could get epic. Well, I hope that its going to be epic in Vegas just like 2017

He could pull an Alessi and come back to race injured and have someone pull a Grant and dive bomb his knee. The universe is still getting back at Grant for that one.

If I had a company sending me free, new socks all the time, you can bet your ass I’d be wearing them. 50% of my socks look like screen doors on the bottom. Grinning

Maybe a naive question but does he wear a knee brace and could a brace prevent an ACL injury?

On a side note I think it's pretty smart that a lot of guys are using wrist braces - why not be as protected as possible?

I think the answer to your last question is because there is an inverse relationship between protection and mobility. The more you brace up, the more your movement is restricted. A lot of guys need that freedom of movement to feel like they can ride at their limit.

Knee braces unfortunately do not prevent all knee injuries. Not sure if Austin wears them, but a torn ACL can happen regardless.

My best guess is they "prehab" it hard for the next three weeks. He gives her a go and they re-evaluate week by week. If all goes well, he can still chase the championship. However, my guess is he doesn't go outdoors so he can get it fixed and be ready for the offseason sx prep, unless somehow he is feeling 95% come mid May.

That's kind of a shitty system when you're a moto fan. Give me 6-8 SX with no regions. Pack the money and points into a short Winter series. It'll be intense as fuck and great offseason entertainment. Think RedBull promotion/series such as Crashed Ice or Air Race. Then the "real" season comes in with an MXGP style schedule.

I'd say that's more due to it coming first. If outdoors were first I'm sure it would be reversed.

Team issue bro! I'm sure someone will sell you some on ebay for about tree-fiddy.

Classic Vital! Mr. Info (hilarious irony, as pointed out by mattyhamz2) asked if there is any Forkner news. Every medical doctor with a Vital handle proceeds to give their expert opinion on the injury. Other than a screenshot of a knee, there's not one ounce of legitimate information.

He will make a go of it for sure in my opinion. He can always have it repaired this summer.

I tore my ACL this summer and the initial pain was sickening. Getting the swelling to go down was the hardest part...I didn't have access to Dr. G and others like Forkner has though. If they can get the swelling down and keep it really supported (he might have to stand up the whole race) he can probably toughen it out for last few rounds. However, he probably won't be anywhere near the podium, but he may not have to be if Justin Cooper takes out Sexton. I didn't get my ACL repaired and raced 4 months later with no issues, I tried to build up the muscle around it, so with his resources maybe he can cut my 4 months down to 2 weeks.
