Sorry we don't go balls out first lap on the track in 2 months..
If there was someone faster coming up behind me I would have moved off the track. had nowhere to go.
Cant anticipate someone cutting that much time off that corner.

I value some thoughtful input, and can admit when im wrong...but really?
Yes, I always watch a few laps, see how the speed is.
Ensuring I enter when safe and not intruding on anyone coming up.
If you've actually ridden that track, you would know that no one could come through that corner so fast on the inside Tongue
Cheers
I have rode the track and actually it was the day before you on Saturday. DA was there and so was the 710 and there were no issues.

Quit being a spode and get in where you fit in. Quad and kids track.

Leave the race track to racers.

But 5280 isn’t the one who crashed into a building out of control. Are you sure your logic is correct?

He wasn't OC. watch the video. The berm or lack there of blew out and popped him into the building.

You think its OC cause you can't imagine yourself going that fast.

So by vital logic, a guy intentionally rides a cheater line. Cross jumps some guys who’re actually on the track and then completely misses the next corner and smashes into a building, And it’s the tracks fault?

That guy only has himself to blame for his injuries.

His back wheel pops up and kicks him into the building watch the video .55 second mark. If there was a deeper rut or bigger berm nothing happens.

He actually hits his front brake and turns lefts to avoid hitting the building head on at the .59 second mark he was in control and knew what he was doing.

For his injuries yes only himself to blame

You are the problem with this sport. Instead of trying to help people who may not be as fast as you think you are you just tell them they suck. How about I say you are a fucking douche bag. These tracks don't stay open because the guy you blow who crashed his brains out into a shed showed up, they stay open because people like OP work every day and pay money to come ride every week and have fun. Oh fastest mini rider!? My bad let me get on my knees and bow to you ole mighty mini rider. Fucking prick.

One suggestion I have, is if you and your buddy are taking it easy and just checking out the track and the track is pretty full with varying skill levels, try to not take up two lines. That track looked pretty narrow as is,. I do agree though, no one get's a trophy or check on practice day, we should all try our best to make sure everyone has a fun and safe day, that guy should of had the awareness of the bottle necking that was going to occur on that jump and just backed off.

Never said he sucked. I said he should be aware of what's happening at track.

A rider at his caliber has paid his fair share of track fees. So he has done his part at keeping tracks open. 5280 said he hasn't rode in 2 months. Im pretty sure IMI will remain open with out him and his buddies 20 bucks. And to say he dont have a job where did that come from.

OP was plenty aware from what I saw. He noticed some guy coming in hot from cheatsville, so he let up and watched him cross jump then spectacularly wreck himself.

Good show.

Also, open practice is open practice. The fast guys need to navigate accordingly and everyone should hold their lines. It isn't hard.

Watch the video closely. The mini sensation is a spode. He was out of control the very second he landed the jump.

My bad...I should have known better than to expect people to stay in the track boundaries. I bet DA didn't cut anyone off like that. One of my friends is a pro freestyle rider, another a former pro rider. I ride with the big boys a lot, I know my place and how to ride.. No, I hadn't ridden in 2 months, but snow will cause that when you work 5 days a week. Also I go slow the first couple laps to make sure the track hadn't changed, again always aware of my surroundings and I move off if someone is coming up fast. I average 50 rides a year. I race B class, so off with the other spodes I go. Cheers Smile I hope your factory ride is a splendid success.

The guy may of been riding like an idiot , but I don't get the whole " he's cutting the track a good 4' " Thing?? That was an obvious line that many people were already using. Look at how dark brown the dirt is and the tire tracks. Hell , I'd go as far as saying that was one awesome looking berm! I'm glad nobody else got hurt , but Jesus , I see stupid shit like that on most practice days.

Remember this old saying , before you insult someone : " When you're driving down the highway and come up on a slow driver , he's an idiot. When you get passed by a driver going faster than you , he's a crazy lunatic that shouldn't have a license ". In other words , it's all in the eyes of the beholder. You're going the perfect speed and everyone else is clueless.

I have no prob getting passed, that is why I was hugging the slower inside line Wink
Yet it's pretty clear that the line has been used plenty of times Whistling

He didn't cut your buddy off or get dangerously close. If your buddy got scared because he jumped the jump at the same time as the dude that was clearly faster then perhaps try and find a quieter track Dry

Pretty lame to be talking about karma and the like. Dude was railing, hope he's okay.

The berm blew out and popped him towards the finish line tower. You can see the dirt fly up. He had probably hit that same line at that speed multiple times with no problem.

Imo looked like you guys were going to slow for the motocross track. Maybe you and your friend should of been riding the quad and kids track that is behind the starting gate.

And there’s a fundamental disconnect. After 20 years, it should have been driven home that if someone faster is coming up behind you, you don’t “move off the track”. You hold a steady line. Perhaps this rider had come up on you in the past and was worried that you would move off the track/take a weird or unpredictable line? Doing that can be far more dangerous than what you seem to think was a life threatening move.

While you’re MFing this guy, just think that there are probably a lot of guys who’ve done that same MFing about some dude altering his predictable line when they come up to him at speed.....

That idiot deserves all the pain he's having right now. It's one thing riding like an idiot all by yourself, I couldn't care less how hard you crash, but if you endanger other people like that, then I hope you hurt yourself sooner than later so we get you off the track as quickly as possible.

There’s a local track here in Ohio that I went to last year, and there’s a few somewhat fast C riders who think they are A riders during an open practice day, and as they are flying around the track they were constantly using the water truck lane as a part of the track to use as a passing lane at race pace. Lame squids. The idiots show complete disregard for others.

BMc dude is a blow-hard jerk. Just ignore him. You should know by now that posting vids on Vital is cruising for a bruising - unless it's a vid of a pro jumping a quad. Just about every one here is either an engineer or former pro or an A rider or track construction and operation expert. There's only about ten of us guys that won an occasional trophy in the C class when we were young men and now only win one once every few years in 50+.

I too hold the track operators to some accountability. That area should be marked off with cones or tape. More than anything it looks to me like a lane for the water truck.

Agree. The guy chose to take a line that was obviously being used by many people on the track, to pass you and your buddy who are moving at snail speed. You can clearly see in the video he never "cross jumps" if he would have went straight off that face he would've went off the track lol. I also agree with the dude earlier saying the berm blew out, you can see where his bike kicks sideways. I don't advocate for douchebags to ride out of control on practice days but I also don't support people like you who are much below this guys skill level to say he "took a cheater line" and "cross jumped into MY airspace" when you look like you are in first gear idling through the corner with your buddy taking up the other line lol. Then to say it was karma. You are clearly the douche in this scenario, I would take the thread and vid down in an effort to avoid further embarrassment.

Not taking any sides here, but it would be a huge amount of respect to the rider and the riders family if the title and video were renamed/edited just as "gnarly crash" or "guy slams into building" or something. He is a good kid, good friend of mine, excellent rider and would never put others or himself in harms way. Would be really cool if 5280mx would be willing to edit the comments out of the video and just let the video roll with no editing.

Unless it was blocked off that looks like a line to me.

Only real problem I see with the video is them putting a building on the outside of a fast sweeping turn. Looks like he just made a mistake and overshot the berm .

On your question on where you should be on the track, ride your line. It’s the responsibility of the passing rider to get around you safely. If you are rolling jumps then stay to the side of the track.

With you going that slow and looking back going towards that jump he obviously knew you were not going to jump it. Although I don’t know why you guys were out in the same practice.

I went and checked him out at the hospital the day it happened. Poor guy is pretty banged up and is going to need a couple surgeries but he is expected to make a full recovery. The fact of knowing you cant ride for the first part of summer is probably what is hurting him the most!

First thing that went through my mind before the guy even crashed. Thats one of the best examples of a dumbass track design that puts people in wheelchairs. I wouldnt ride there and i wouldnt insure the place either.

Aside from the injuries the kid did sustain, he was fortunate with the metal fence post he mulled over right before hitting the building. The safety cap on top of the fence post went flying into the air.
