I’d rather see these forums than “Where’s JS7?”

I don't think any rider, since RC, is more concerned about their legacy and being the GOAT, than Herlings. I could see him doing it just to win the title here-I guarantee you he's 100% confident that he'd win it...just so he could say he did something nobody else has ever done-not even the GOAT.

I don't know, I think Herlings' ego is big enough he might actually try it...just to make sure he's the undisputed GOAT.

I, for one, would love to see him try.

Even cairoli is a better conversation for GOAT.

Herlings is as much of the GOAT as JS7.

Let’s have this conversation if and when he starts racking up titles.

I'll highlight it for you: "...just to make sure he's the undisputed GOAT."

Are you sure its MY comprehension skills that are at 0? and not you?

As I previously said, if and when herlings is pushing 10 world titles, then we can have the GOAT conversation. Not ever again should GOAT be brought up until he has 8+ titles.

Looks like ol' trippple two is gonna be a mighty stout competitor again this season.
I would say that if Tony stays healthy, then Herling's chances would be extremely slim if he misses two rounds.
Tough to gain very many points winning events, if Tony settles in behind him for second place. And, I think Tony is smart enough to do just that, rather than risk crashing trying to straight up beat him at individual events, if Tony has a large lead in the points.
Reading his IG it seems like he's gunna miss more than two rounds. If Jeffrey is out of the GP hunt I don't see why KTM...
Reading his IG it seems like he's gunna miss more than two rounds. If Jeffrey is out of the GP hunt I don't see why KTM wouldn't want him in America competing for a championship. They have Cairoli over here, add Herlings into the mix with Webb and Musquin and they have a good shot of the US title too.
It is not that easy. You bet webb and musquin would have a lot to say about that, before decided. It is probably $1-2millon on the line just from ktm for a title. The riders agents would/should have some kind of non-compete within the same OEM. One thing if he is not going for the championship, but then Herlings could just ride GPs and continue stacking wins going after the record.

Maybe the only thing in favor of Herlings situation, is that neither Webb or musquin has had a situation where they could demand a lot of things during negotiation. If it was Dungey still riding, it would never happen.

His sponsors pay him to line up for the GPs and nothing else. He couldn't go even if he wanted to. 0% chance

I wouldn't say 0% but yeah you're right.
No way he'll be able to go for a full season. If he does want to do it he has to plan it a year in advance at least

While it would be a spectacle to watch i agree, the only chance would be if he can fit nationals in between GP rounds. Like you say, decision has to be made clear with sponsors in advance.

From what I've read of JH's instagram posts I think the lack of a clear plan is because of the difficulty healing. Just toying withe the National idea I think. If all the stars came into alignment, he could make it happen and sponsors would fall into line. I think it will take more time; it looks gruesome.

Exactly... Think about it. Why would he say he doesnt know what his plans are yet? It would always be I cant wait to be back at MXGP round 4, hes not saying that though. Why the hell would he say he doesnt know his plans, or that hell be back to MXGP soon, unless its because he actually doesnt know, or he wont?

It would be smart for KTM and smart for Jeffrey. Leave 2nd year into your 450 career, win a US championship, then go after the GP records. The fans gained plus doing something no one has done would be huge. Although coming off an injury who knows what would happen...
Perhaps you’re reading too much into his statement. He might have meant nothing other than he doesn’t know when he’ll be back to racing so there are no set plans.

All I know is that is just the post of him possibly coming over here seem to have more excitement then any supercross round yet and the nationals would probably have record numbers of spectators all summer due to him racing against our best!! You guys are probably right about it not happening but ya never know!!????

Sponsors can and do change the terms of agreement. I doubt it will happen, but there are people that could make it happen.

I think there is a point in the healing process when you can predict with some certainty when you'll be healthy - and I don't think he is there yet and that's what IG post is about.

Exactly, it is not like they are moving a nuclear powerplant, it is just a rocket Smile , everything can happen businesss wise especially when all the sponsors are pretty similar from both sides of the pond.

He can miss about 5-6 rounds and still have a chance Tongue

Just kidding.

Sucks that his injury is much worse than we thought. Hope he heals up quick!

I hope Herlings comes to America to race the Outdoor Nationals. It would make the series a lot more exciting. Also after all the injuries from Supercross how many top riders will be even able to ride. KTM make this happen!!!
