RJ Wageman had to see an eye specialist on Monday. Keefer talked about it for a second on the PulpMx show. This is no joke.

I don't think Dirt Wurx makes the call on what's used. I think they just do what they're told and work with what they're given.

Dirt Wurx is contracted by Feld to build the tracks for the entire SX season and I think a lot of the same guys go from venue to venue to build the tracks.

There's a guy in charge of the company and it's most likely the owner. Dirt Wurx has been around for a long time. I remember hearing about them in the early 2000's and it wouldn't surprise me if they were around before that.

They've been building the tracks for Feld for many years. They've used the chemical many times before in the past with no issues so I'm not sure what was done differently this past weekend. Different product?

Let's do the math. 80 riders x $5k = $400k (not including 50 kids at the moment)

It is a large under statement saying that would be getting off easy for the massive screw up. Although not intentional on their part (at best ignorance and stupidity), some one has got to pay the damages.

The elites of Feld can't be that actual clueless on the money that goes into these bikes and/or the potential health hazards they exposed the riders to can they?

$5k is a slap in the face and a pathetic attempt to keep this out of court. They made it worse for themselves if this is true imo. Cough up a couple million in damages and start paying the riders what they are worth.

When someone can not race or does worse in the next race, it will really be a worse issue. What if a championship contender missed a round or did poorly because of it?

Feld and the track builders are de sensitized to the use of lime as they have used it in small amounts over the years with no issues (or atleast no one thought) and everything was hunky dory for years and years. Guaranteed no one read the warning label on lime and the potential helath issues in many years due to the de sensitivity of from normal use and no issues. Bad decisions and bad weather (that was known) caused some pretty serious injuries and damage to equipment that must be “fairly” covered. $5k is a start but if I were a rider I wouldn’t sign off on anything until I was made “whole” from everything affected.

To all the jackwagons that discounted the health affects of lime and lime slurry take your holier than thou attitude and cram it. Its has been said many times that “caustic” causes blindness and AJ’s photo and story are proof. This is a way more serious event than they got some lime dust on their hands and it sucked the moisture out. Chemical burns (big or small), and elevated ph in your eye's caused by someone else is serious, real serious.

What is really scary, pH is on a log scale between 0 and 14 with neutral at pH7. If his eye pH doubled, thsts really bad... caustic eye injuries are bad because soaps form and the alkali is hard to wash out the eye.

Likewise, caustic forms strong detergents and will strip a lot of the oil from the bike as well as etch the aluminum.

I saw a safety video once and some poor guy had his feet amputated after caustic filled his rubber boots. Sad

Hope no permanent health damage.

My first real chemistry teacher told.me about a guy that got caustic in his mouth back in the day with mouth pipetting... it cleaned the skin off his mouth and they gave him vinegar mouthwash to neutralize. Mouth pipetting and other dangerous practices aren't done anymore because of health and safety regulations etc.

The guy healed up ok, and in the upside his teeth were supposed to be really clean!

If his pH was really at 14 then that would mean the actual level was 10^7 times more basic then normal correct? I'm wondering if maybe he meant the actual level rather than the logarithmic pH scale, because that seems like it would be impossible without massive issues with your vision. This is way outside my scope obviously so I'm just inferring here, but even if it was twice as basic as it normally is that's no Bueno. Really hope he doesn't have any lasting effects, I'm not very familiar with this stuff but I know it can't be good.

A quick google search says eye pH between 7.0 and 7.3, slightly more acidic than physiological pH 7.4

No way his eyes are pH 14, but even a couple of decimals more than 7.3 says not good.

This is why I think they'll drop points this weekend in 450's. Eli has gotten a huge advantage on top of taking the red plate. Did he take an antidote? Does everyone think Honda is going to sit by and let this season get away from Kenny if he, along with Brayton, Friese and Seely still can't race this weekend? Even if they are able to hit the track
