Noticed on Marvin's pitboard it said P-4 and just Yes in the San Diego main event. I think i saw it in outdoors also.

I’ve seen this on his pit board the past two years at every race along with No. My guess is that it means he’s faster or slower than the person in front of him as it always seems to be when he’s in a position other than first.

In sports I have always used something simple like “yes” as an open ended motivator. If you’re pitching and your catcher nods at you, sometimes it’s a little confidence boost that you have been in the same spot doing the same thing 1,000 times and can do it again. You both know the situation and the desired outcome without talking. “yes” you can do it without over complicating things. Also it would be easy to over complicate a pitboard I would imagine so this takes that out of the equation and let’s the rider do what he wants with that encouragement.

I have heard of "Yes" being used as "Yes, you are good in your current spot/points position". A "no" would be given when the rider needed more points to secure an overall for the day, or series, etc. But then, who knows what Marv and his mechanic are using it for.

I can't thank.
I can’t thank ____ enough implies that they have helped them so immensely that there’s no way thanking them verbally is reciprocal for the amount that ______ helped them.

I don’t know how you old turds have never heard this phrase, but it implies thanks beyond just “thanks”.

I only made it to Supermini's before my accident but my dad would always put how many positions I needed to gain for the win if I wasn't leading. P4 could mean he needed 4 positions like if he was in 5th position at the moment. I may be totally wrong but it seems most mechanics & riders have their own system for signals and pit board notes. Sometimes in the middle of a race you don't have the mind to look over at the standings board or in my case didn't have anything to look at for your current position.

Post a reply to: "Yes" on the pitboard?
