I've got to go with the Dogger on this one. How many races did Bubbs or TP win with a hangover after an all nighter? Laughing

This could make a great secondary thread: who won the most races hungover? I would think Lechien but maybe Reed tops him years back.

James Stewart for sure. He is someone who always wowed me with what he can do with a bike, especially a 125. It was incredible.

Lot of great answers, it would be impossible to find only one rider as the most talented. My pick: Joel Robert, the original badass. Drink and smoke all night, show up on Sunday and beat everybody. And multi-time world champ. Saw him at Red Bud several years ago, still a badass!

The Man Roger Decoster beat everyone everywhere for entire career including his last ever race. Also did it at a time when if you did not have perfect technique your bike would not go the distance.IMHO.

Jeff Ward, dude still hauls the mail!
Seriously, if Ward rode for factory Honda, he'd have more wins and more championships.

Ward's pushing 60 and is still going to the start line to compete against the best young talent. Ward's talent stands the test of time, he's the most talented in my opinion.

In terms of effortless speed and not having to put in nearly the same amount of effort to be successful, Pourcel has to be up there.

No doubt in my mind that James or TP199 takes that award.
My thoughts exactly. The 2 most naturally talented guys in different ways. They made things look ridiculously easy and seemed to put very little effort into being great on a bike.

Well i mean, Guy cooper was pretty awesome, so was Mike Cinqmars, David Vuillemin, Tortelli.

I think as far as "ever" since there were different era's thats not possible,

but i think there were
most talented riders in each ERA.

I mean Cinq always sent it man. i mean the dude sent it over his 3 story house.

Thats easy, he has 72 wins and is cosidered the King of Supercross.
With things being the way thay are in todays racing, i dont think this record will ever be broken.

JS7 no doubt.

I never saw Stewart and Carmichael race, but I've seen multiple MXON and MXGP and the only rider that made me said "holy crap" is Jeffrey Herlings.

Sebastien Tortelli, only rider who could beat Carmichael and Everts in their prime. Sadly injuries ruined his career. I think he is one of the most underrated riders in history

Okay I get why so many people are saying James Stewart because so often he just made you go 'wow'!
But if the question is "Most talented?" or raw talent, then surely that rules out riders who were basically professional from a very young age. Riders like James rode and trained everyday and raced every weekend on the very best equipment as kids and received the best coaching available along the way. By the time they officially turn pro, that talent can no longer be considered raw, it's super massaged and polished, their style has been shaped all the way along.
It's hard to think of any top modern rider that hasn't come through that process, so I think if you're talking truly raw natural talent, you've got to go back at least 20 years or so?

although im not a huge fan I can get on-board with the JS7 talk.

and no one can argue against TP199. the things that dude does with 2 wheels in insane.

im supprised I haven't seen any mention of Ryan Sipes. dude has won a supercross, a GNCC, ISDE, rode a MXoN and some flat track. and hes super cool.

I agree. Around 1995 to 1998, he came in as dominant as Cairoli, Herlings or RC. Unfortunately he took the challenge race in SX but also to beat RC in MX and we all know who won. I think he was also in the same zip code as RC in term of determination.

He was still a rookie in SX when he came to the US ; after a couple of years he improved a lot in SX but factories probably looked more at the next big thing rather than seeing the remaining potential I think. He did a big interview almost a year ago where he said he had 1 regret, it was "to have raced directly in the "450" class in SX". Maybe if he had done like Reed who raced the lites class at the begining, he would have had a career a bit more like him.

JS7 is unarguably the most naturally talented rider in our sport. This has been the consensus since he turned pro.

So you cant have a raw talent and still train everyday? To have a raw talent you have to NOT train and still be somewhat good? Lol
