The "answer" is that a small group of Tomac fans brought Marvin Musquin's nationality into their hatred of him for the Foxborough incident. Like you said in another reply here, which I agree with, all it takes is a few vocal assholes to ruin the reputation of the bunch. So unfortunately, "Tomac fans = rednecks." All because of a few idiots.

I nailed what this forum is about. Disappointing. Everyone that agrees with me is too scared to because of this bitch as "snowflake" society. Ok guys gang up on me and have a circle jerk together. Tomac will win next week, I hope Mookie gets well soon!

This place is simply a microcosm of modern society. The internet just provides an anonymous pulpit for those, so inclined, to spew their fear and hate. Thankfully, Gibby and his deputies are on the job.

I never realised how much hate there was around me before the internet.

Where is all this hate? I was at the race and during Malcolm's heat race he was getting tons of love. When he went down the vibe I got from the crowd was nothing but concern. When he waved to the crowd again he got a nice ovation.

This sport might be the only sport where the fans are happy just to see good racing and cheer for anyone that makes a pass for the lead.

Hope Mookie heals up fast and comes back because he is unquestionably a bad dude on a motorcycle.
I agree. One of the loudest roars of the night is when Malcom passed someone in the whoops so that's has to mean something. It seems some of the dislike for him might come from not wanting or not doing the outdoors. That's a sure way to piss off a hardcore motocross fan right there.

Well, 2009 would have been when James left Kawasaki for Yamaha. I don’t think he was treated any differently than RC was when he left Kawasaki for Honda. Hard core Kawasaki fans hated both of them for leaving. It’s childish I know, but it is what it is. I also believe James’ cockiness and lack of on track delivery brought on some of his haters. I myself, loved watching James race when he was on. As for Mookie, it’s probably spillover that goes back to the Stewart name. I don’t really know how anyone can hate on Mookie, the guy is always smiling and seems positive in all his interviews. I’ve never known him to to ride dirty either. So yea, I don’t get the negativity by some out there.
How does the guy who is number 2 all-time in combined race wins (98!) get pegged with "lack of on-track delivery"?

My bad, I wasn’t clear when I wrote that, and I just noticed, but I meant after he left Kawi, the success just really wasn’t there. During his Kawi years, he was rockin, and I loved watching him ride.

I'm glad you saw/heard that support from folks. It's good to hear. I have been at the races and seen/heard the exact opposite toward the Stewart's. It was 100% racist...nothing to do with bike brand or SX only.

I’ll bet they have faced it all their life, probably more when James was a young hotshot.

People probably wanted to say mean things and saw the size of Big James and whispered instead of saying things to their face. Cool rags to riches story.

With RV being a winning robot to “The People’s Champ”, I’ve come to the conclusion I know nothing about a riders true personality.

With modern medicine being what it is, how long does it take to come back from a clean femur break? I see 722 is back from his.

I’m from Australia and I went to the US in 2009 to watch a round and the abuse I heard directed at JS7 was fucking sickening man. Kinda put me off ever going back to watch a race live. I think it’s a topic that should be talked about more IMO
Which race did you go too?

Until he's not. Them Stewart boys come by the "checkers or wreckers" tag line honestly. And I think that's where a lot of the unfavorable opinion comes from. It feels like several of these posts are dancing around racism. And I'm sure that's a plenty prevalent reason for Stewart hate. But let's not go labeling everybody that's over the Stewart's as backwoods rednecks.
Malcolm just ate shit in a big way. I hope he heals up quick. And in the immediate future is able to find some comfort in the hospital. You know that dude's hurting, and that sucks. I, for one, would love to see him get a full season in. Including the summer series.
This is where I come from. I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope he can get a full season in and have good results. But if I were a team manager I would not hire him based on his history of crashing and injuring himself. I resent the insinuation that my opinion on this matter is in some way related to the color of M. Stewart's skin because it's not. I've no doubt that the Stewart's have experienced racism, but I think it is a far minority of the mx community that holds those attitudes. There was a race (I think Southwick) where some fans were shouting derogatory remarks at James Stewart when he would ride by and I believe his parents heard it. No one should have to endure those types of attitudes, but of all the thousands of people watching the race, it was only a few who were being a-holes.

Since moving to the 450 class has he really crashed out of that many series?

He hasn't shown up a few times, and has shown up unprepared a couple times also, but i wouldn't say he's injury prone just yet. He's not in the Justin Bogle/Josh Grant category just yet anyways.

This off season has been very Mookie heavy in terms of content, and if GuyB's comments about his previous injury have merit then a portion of what happened is out of his control to an extent. Wasn't the original injury caused by his bike exploding mid air? Or was that a different get off?

I think you'll find that most " core " fan's of the sport , like people who post here , don't feel that way. You fill up a stadium with 60,000+ fans , you are definitely going to get some redneck's at an event like that. But that goes for any motor sport. You shouldn't " Love" or " Hate " anyone by their skin color.....but unfortunately , some people do. There are a lot of people in this sport who love the hell out of Malcolm , and it isn't because he's black , it's because he is a very humble , cool human being that can shred the shit out of a dirt bike!

No!! Dude , I am a redneck! I grew up on a big farm in a small town. I'm just saying a lot of the racist people , tend to be rednecks. I did NOT say all redneck's are racist! Because they are not!

He's a fan favorite for sure. I like him; he's always nice and respectful, and seems to be enjoying himself. I feel bad that his season has been cut short, and I'll agree that he's not at that Bogle/Grant category. But then again, it seems like injuries have plagued just about everyone, from Wilson to Barcia, to ______ (insert rider's name). Maybe I'm wrong come to think about it, I guess I just get disappointed when I see all this great talent getting injured.

Man I literally heard people in stands saying “I hope that nigger crashes” regardless of him leaving Kawi for Yamaha that is vile behaviour. And I understand his cockiness but Reed is just as cocky imo (I’m an Aussie btw) and the notion that he didn’t deliver on track is just bullshit. The dude is a great of our sport, only person other than the goat to go 24-0 and how many titles did he win? You wouldn’t say Reed didn’t deliver on the track yet he won less races and tittles than bubba. But yes I feel the most for mookie the hate he sometimes gets is so unfair you can see he is a genuinely happy/gracious dude.
MOST Champions are Cocky and Must go to the start line being Cocky, knowing they are the best and are about to beat the crap out of the other riders to get to the finish first.

There are ignorant haters everywhere. I went to a NASCAR race a few years ago, and there was a guy who would stand and flip off Kyle Busch as he'd pass by. Every. Single. Lap. Personally, I can't see wasting that much time and energy. Maybe it was the beer. Maybe he thought Kyle would see him up in the 50th row. Beats me.
I think at least one fan in every section flips off each driver every lap. That's just the atmosphere. And if you're at a local stock car race....alot of guys just throw wrenches in the pits. Beat the hell out of eachother, then give that same guy a few parts for his motor the next week....just heated thats all.
