I'm just throwing out the hot takes today, but I already wrote this at RacerX:

I kind of feel like JGR has never given Phil the respect he deserves. He got 5th in the 2016 outdoor points and was rewarded with a demotion to ride the turd 250 in 2017. And again on the 250 for 2018 for SX, with no outdoor deal at all except a fill-in. Taking Justin Hill and Jimmy D for outdoors over Phil is so unbelievable.

And honestly, if both Phil and Mookie were to race all 17 rounds of SX on the same team I'd say it would be 50-50 whether or not Mookie beats him in points. No doubting Mookie's talent, but Phil's in shape and later in the season when the field is thinner being fit can definitely overcome "speed".

Pretty sure the MS27 army is coming for me.

it's a quandry this sport faces in that fleeting shooting stars garner more attention than solid also-rans.

I'm more likely to buy a product that a workhorse like Phil depends on than half-time hill or maybe-racing mookie, but I'm the minority it seems.

Could be, and I hope they’re still on good terms. I got the feeling that Phil wasn’t thrilled being a 250 rider and didn’t want to ride outdoors on a JGR 250. Matthes pressed Phil on that and he hinted heavily towards turning down that 250 spot for a 450 gig. A poster above mentione respect.... from my perspective that hit the nail on the head.

Phil is so solid, and it’s a shame that he was struggling to lock in a 450 ride all summer. That was mainly my point. Good on JGR for letting him off the fill in spot to take this ride immediately..... but I still hope he makes them and Suzuki regret not finding the cash to fund a 3rd bike.....

Kind of pulling for him on this one. No disrespect, I’m sure all is good on both sides but as a fan I’d like to see him kill it. Kind of an underdog story I guess.

More proof to stop whining about SX taking out and injuring all of the riders. It's a tough sport and over time, it catches up with ya. Sooner or later, the inevitable will happen. Feel bad for Zach, but I'm looking forward to him on the 450 next year. That class needs him. Looks like JMart or Plessinger for MXdN (assuming they stay healthy).

Pumped for Phil on the Husky.

Yeah....he literally ripped his shoulder apart , so he didn't have to do a drug test. Blink

He had surgery this morning , so I assume he's on all sorts of meds now.

How is our chances at the des nations grim? Tomac, Barcia, and J-Mart is a super solid team especially for a home track. Tomac, Baggett, J-Mart. Tomac, Anderson (if hes healthy enough), and J-Mart. They can even throw J-Mart or Plessinger on a 450 in the Open class and put the other on the 250 and we'll have a solid team. Or Alex Martin on a 250. We have a good solid list of riders to choose from this year, as long as they stay healthy for Red Budd this year.
