While its a shame, it sounds like this isnt an overdose of Wheeto's , and rather than being accidental, its a been a concious decision , and when you are one of 4 guys under the control of the alleged 'best trainer in the world ' , you have to ask WTF is going on.

As i said earlier, Aldon tests his guys regularly, why didnt he know.

1. Everyone’s assuming it was an innocent mistake rather than intentional. How do we know that?

2. Everyone’s assuming he’ll get four years. Why? Stewart didn’t. Neither did MotoGP guy Anthony West.

Just asking...

Well, I have some mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I feel sorry for Tickle given this could very well be a career ending suspension. On the other hand, it looks like information about this banned supplement has been around for years. I find it difficult to believe that Tickle’s ingestion of the supplement was anything other than intentional or perhaps a case of simply being incredibly negligent. With the atheletes knowing they are going to be tested, I find it incomprehensible that they would get within a 100 miles of these supplements or anything else they don’t know for a certainty is safe.

As for penalties, basing it on the Olympic sport cycle and then applying the ban equally to all sports is a bit draconian. The penalty ought to be tailored to the sport. For some of these penalties where the athelete is wading through the apparent maze of the TUE process (for a legitimately prescribed medication) or where the ingestion is a result of tainted food at a restaraunt or something similar, a reduced penalty or probation seems more appropriate. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that either of these circumstances exist in Tickle’s case.

The sport rightfully asked for and implemented a testing process. Just because a positive test occurs is no reason for all the abuse directed towards the process. Anyone racing knows what they are signing up for.

I completely agree on the penalty portion of your comments.

I like the idea of testing, but I think the WADA penalty structure is way over the top.
Agreed.

To set the penalty to a 4 year suspension for all athletes because that's the time between olympics says that they're out of touch. MX is not the olympic games. We don't have 4 years between events. The penalty should be based on the amount and type of substance found, along with the number of times an athlete has failed the test. Repeat offenders are banned for greater amounts of time.

The testing should be performed by WADA, with and the penalty structure and final list of banned substances set by the governing body of the sport.

Still got that stuff over here, haven’t tried it but heard good things. I like the old Platinum Pre, tasted like skittles, shame they stopped it for the new gold range

I've taken dozens of pre workouts and the only one I couldn't handle was Hyde. I assumed it was the high caffeine but maybe it was DMAA?

What lack of KTM PR? I added what they sent to the story on the homepage, and will paste it here for your convenience.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Rider Broc Tickle Will Not Compete In Tomorrow’s Minneapolis SX

MURRIETA, Calif. – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team rider Broc Tickle was advised on Thursday by the FIM that he is provisionally suspended and barred from participating in any sports competition until further notice, pursuant to Article 7.9 of the FIM Anti-doping Code.

Tickle is taking the necessary steps to lift the Provisional Suspension.

Round 14 of the AMA Supercross Championship will take place tomorrow, April 14, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I just went and looked in my duffle bag and sure enough, my pre-workout has methylhexanamine in it...
Exactly right here ^^^^ this stuff is derived from geraniums, it could have been in a multitude of supplements and he not know it. They can rebrand the name, call it a “special” formula, half a dozen different things....but like you said this bullshit will cost Broc dearly.

USADA test outdoors and WADA for Supercross, riders won't appear on that USADA list unless it's outdoors of last year that someone is searching for.

I've seen WADA personnel at San Diego and Daytona this year, so far.

Since when does FIM ban United States riders? When did the AMA cede authority of it's riders to these draconian drug rules? Free Broc!
If it were an AMA only series, then USADA would be doing the testing and the same thing would've happened. Pointing fingers at the FIM does nothing in this situation.

How could an accident like that be a likely scenario when you have the most expensive trainer in the sport taking care of everything you put in your body? And it's almost as insulting as saying he's cheating if you think that Broc is so dumb he would decide to take his own supplements without checking if any of ingredients is banned first. The only accident here is the fact that he got caught, but something like this was gunna happen sooner than later.

Other than injuries during his career. Broc been so consistent for sponsors and teams. What a shit show Wada is. Look what it did to JS7 career. The fans were all shortchanged and we never see James again. The worst part to the fans especially those that don't know any better and just read headlines. They think the riders are cheating and really getting an advantage. SX and MX is a little too tough of a sport to think any substance is going to make all the difference if not be a hindrance. Be different if races were 2-3 hours long like off road. Or like cycling. Maybe this will get sorted out. One can hope anyways.

I think the Olympic based penalty cycle is overkill for our sport, but I believe the list of banned substances is actually easy to understand and it's part of a professional's job to do what's required of you in your sport. So I'm for a penalty, just not what's going to be handed down. Outside of the Olympics, WADA/USADA should have a tiered system for penalties. Maybe like first offense (6 months), second offense (1 year), third offense (2 years and up based off prior substances used and caught for).

What on earth does it matter what kind of banned substance he took or how much of a gain he got from it? If he really didn't know, I feel extremely sorry for the guy and I hope things get cleared out. If he did know, no penalty is too harsh.

Why would you suggest a 6-month ban for an athlete that tried to CHEAT the system, CHEAT his sponsors, CHEAT his fans...? (Not throwing Tickle under the bus, it's a general sentiment).

How would you feel if you've got a kid that is in the top 5% talent pool of a certain sport, but can not get into the 1% that actually make it without resorting to PED's? I'm not saying this is the case in MX (nobody knows), but it sure as shit is the case in many other sports.

I say fuck each and every one that gets caught. One and done. Career over.

(Again, this post doesnt't specifically refer to Tickle, way too early to judge).
Okay at your work, one mistake deliberate or not and you cant work in the industry again.
Fact is the whole doping issue is a shit show and peoples lives are being ruined by innocent mistakes..

And just one of those mistakes by the wada etc is not acceptable.
Fact is your probably right for most to get to the top 1% and in just about any area of life youre gonna be involved in dirty shit..

With the resources available to Broc there is no excuse for this at all.

If it was some kid racing out a sprinter busting his back working on bikes, driving to races, trying to train etc etc and used some of the wrong supplements accidentally I would feel bad for him.

He is on the premier team with backing by Red Bull (some pretty advanced facilities available to them) and arguably the highest level most experienced trainer working for him. Like I said zero excuses.

4 year penalty is too much no doubt about it. But these guys all need to be aware of it and responsible if they fail a test.

Nitro is available for legal sale. But, rightly or wrongly, it’s in the rules that you mustn’t run it in your bike.

This, (and many other drugs/substances) are banned. Rightly or wrongly, it’s in the rules. So don’t use it.

High levels of caffeine used to be banned. High levels are still banned in NCAA sanctioned events.
Wada is considering putting caffeine back on the list.

Lots of tested athletes wont touch coffee because of this because you have no way to control the amount in coffee or espresso strengths.

Regardless, your Cocoa puffs and fruity pebbles doesnt have 1,3 or 1,4 or any other form or analog of DMAA.

So tired of these harsh, ridiculous suspensions. Do I think there should be drug testing? Absolutely! Do I think we steal the career of these guy men who make a mistake? This is a sad situation. People are going to make mistakes, do we steal their lively hoods away for it? He would get less time in jail if he was caught selling it. #SuspendWADAIndefinitely

I honestly believe Broc Tickle is innocent here. He has arguably the best job on the planet, he's won a championship before (in the 250 class but a title nonetheless), has a beautiful wife, rides for the best team on the planet, and he's making a great living doing what he loves. Would he really risk all of it over something stupid like a performance enhancing drug? I doubt it. I don't see these riders risking it in this day and age of professional sports, with WADA and the drug testing, nobody is risking it. Before WADA existed, absolutely I'd put money down some of the top riders were doping to an extent. As for Broc Tickle in 2018, where he's at in his career and what he has to gain, I just don't see him doing that.
MMA, Football, Baseball, all much higher paying sports with way more to lose. Golf.
Dont kid yourself.
Symphony players use banned drugs. Archery and Gun shooting competitions use drugs.

Usain Bolt lost a medal because in a relay race one teammate athlete got popped. So the whole team lost.
Lance Armstrong..........when did he ever not use?

I wonder how the teams deal with a rider's salary in these situations?

I think claiming ignorance is almost worse than doing it on purpose.
