Weights for ez up

Anyone know how much weight will keep an ez up from blowing away? Was going to tie mine to my truck wheels and use 45lb plates on the opposite corners. Is that enough?

We use the EZ-UP brand sand bags on each leg. That said yes a couple 45lb plates will hold er down better lol.

Well it all depends on how much force the wind creates on any particular day... Trial and error...lol

I tie the front to the van with tie downs and then the other side to stakes, gas can, and weight bags and it stays put, this is at Redbank 51 in Oklahoma and no wind so no tie downs in these pics but I usually tie it down in case the wind picks up.

Function of the wind and size. At the Orlando Supercross one year the canopy on the the Suzuki hauler was held down by a quad. The wind flipped it over the trailer in the rig.

I have 4, 7.5 pound plates designed specifically for this. They work and are easy to carry. 45 on each leg is way overkill.

I tie mine down with a gas can and tool box...have yet to have an issue.

Cut 6" lengths of large pvc. Cap one end, fill with concrete n set an eye loop in the concrete.

EZup has a couple of really clean solutions. Weight bags and stake kits.

I use 4 buckets and rope. Carry the buckets empty and fill with dirt or whatever at the track. When I'm done, I give them back the weight....

If you need 45 lbs. you need to put the EZ Up away. The weights will stay but the cover will be in shreds.

the feet have holes for stakes. put the stakes at 45-60 degrees from vertical, one pointing inwards and one pointing outwards (think toe-nailing)...into the ground.

My concern is in 15-20 mph wind. Last year i had my 5 gal gas can(full) holding the one side down and the damn thing blew over my truck mid moto! Lol

2 thumbs up for the super clean lookin van!
Oh yeah forgot about the ez up question.. Hanging pvc with concrete inside is sweet, no trip hazard and works on asphalt.

Average day here is 15-25 mph, I just use stakes and tie extra guide lines to extra stakes. Lots of stakes...

Sometimes you just have to put it away. I strapped my down so it wouldn't move and the wind still bent it so bad it wouldn't fold up. I don't know the limit but when you are talking 30+ mph gusts that it usually enough to turn it into a kite.

Was going to say this. At Honey Lake 2012 for a LL Qualifier we used a 5gal full VP can to hold down the EZ Up. Well, a gust came up and caught the EZ Up and threw the VP can over the trailer and right next to a truck about 30-40 feet behind us. Barely missed the truck behind us.
