I think the industry should keep doing the same thing over and over and hope for a different result.

That's not that huge a savings over buying an actual brand-new 48v e-bike -- say, a Gas Gas (Torrot). That will come all nicely assembled and purpose designed, with smartphone programmable parental controls, a charger, and warranty.

And that's before all the time and incidental money you'll drop shade-treeing that cobble together.

about $700 to $800. those Betas and GasGas bikes are closer to $2000.
$3000 for an Oset is nuts.
The battery price in that link is for a 4 pack.

Climate change is real and I'm sure it won't be long before anything burning fuel for recreational use will be banned or outlawed, like it or not. Coming from someone who has an environmental degree and masters this guy has it right unfortunately. The problem which everyone is mistakenly identifying isn't the noise, its the environmental degradation and the fact that they would prefer to try and "preserve" everything. No use at all. And I'm only in the field for the money and opportunity lol. I love my ICE bikes and actually support and vote opposite of what someone generally in my profession would. But I do see this as a very viable and near future, its coming no doubt, but not overtaking fuel motors completely, just a different parallel market.

A hundred years ago, motorcycle riders had to manage advancing the spark and manually pumping oil into their engines while they rode. Here some of you guys are griping about transmission-less ebikes. Just accept progress and leave old tech to the museums and collectors.

Parallel market. Let's hope no dumbass laws are passed to artificially phase out ICEs, but electrics will have their place and become a real option for beginner kids thru expert adults. I would say Chad is on to something here, he might be buying some electric go-karts in the future too.

Well I can't imagine they'd ever let the automobile loose. Something that kills and maims thousands of people every year? They put in these Obama era regs for truck drivers that's substantially raising freight costs as they figure it'll save 26 lives annually. Give you some perspective on the safety culture thats out there.

I 100% think this is a good move....E-bikes for the little ones is a no brainier, like some of ya'll have said the plug and play and electronic mapping make it probably the easiest bike to adjust for your kids riding needs. On another note the Alta Redshift is so close to being a competitive race bike! 5 more years i can easily see one on the starting line at a pro event (i know they already did straight rhythm). I think the electric motor fits the off road application very very well with all of the torque offered down low, hitting a 70ft jump out of a tight turn is no problem, uphills, and deep sand and mud, the motor has more then enough torque to get it done.
I think we all will miss the screaming engines, honestly i love the 250f and 125 2 smokes because those bikes just scream the whole lap, but if the bike (electric) is truly better then racing will adapt to it.

I thought I read where Alta is racing the Canadian Nationals this summer


I wouldn’t say Formula E sucks.. I’m hoping in the next few years they become the premier F1 class.
