Super motocross magazine did a spread on an RM80 in 1987 or 88 that had a normal Reed valve welded onto the cylinder instead of the stock "power Reed " setup with a small Reed petal under the cylinder. I believe it was Buddy Antunez's bike. Anybody got a scan of that article? The Reed valve supposedly gave it a...

Aceofspades Started a new thread School me on the KTM 200 engine

It's very possible I'm buying a new bike. probably an xc or xcw model ktm either a 200, 250,or 300. Is the 200 still the old engine design? since the ktm 125 is pushing 40 hp, what's the hp for the 200? Is the engine torquey enough for a 200 pound old man like myself? I'm researching daily but I...

Aceofspades Started a new thread Anyone remember 'Stormin' Home' tv movie?

Came on in 84 or 85 with Gil Gerard (star of the 80's Buck Rogers series)? I remember being excited that an mx themed tv movie was coming on-only to be disappointed by how large of a bag of shit it was lol. Gerard was a "down on his luck mx racer" who had one last shot at glory. He...

On my 97 rm250 I drilled about six relatively small holes in the back of my clutch basket and on the the basket and drive plate I drilled a few tiny holes to allow more oil into the clutch , and after that I could put it in ANY gear while the engine was off, and when I pulled in...

Better yet would be to add a small battery of some kind and hook it into the charging system that would keep the headlight a constant brightness. I’ve heard of some using the very flat kind used in rc car racing.

On my 14 I found the two-wire connector near the steering head and simply wired a headlight into that. I added an on/off switch and a switch with one side containing a resistor that cut the voltage to 6 bolts as a “dim” switch and it worked great.
The 96 RM250 dyno’ed on the Dirt Rider dyno at 46 horsepower. What messed it up was a one piece power valve that had a tendency to stick open due to heat warping it in the chamber. In 97 it had a two piece valve and steel sub valves instead of aluminum to keep warpath to a minimum but the...
I can find oem but I’d like something to give it a little more power. You’d think these were popular back in the day that there would be some kind of big bore kits at least but I’ve found nothing. On the TTR-225 front I realized that these are the same as the xt-225 and I’ve found all kinds of...
Sorry for the quad question but I’m desperate! I’ve googled and eBayed and can’t find ANY type of mild hop-up or replacement cams for my basket case 87 quadsport I’m building. Does anyone have a clue? I’m also looking for a cam for the stupid 2007 ttr-225 I’m building for my son(I found all the other parts I needed thankfully)...

I found out that they still make the panel I need lol. If you have a decent side panel with the cutout for the gas petcock I might still be interested tho. Also I need the small air box cover panels, I think there are one on each side. It took two days but I tracked everything down lol. It’s...

Just a note for reference: in an old dirt rider magazine I have, Yamaha engineer Ken Clark says to ALWAYS use the ‘C’ piston in ANY yz cylinder regardless of the letter the cylinder has on it because it’s safe and makes better power due to better tolerances. 🤷‍♂️ Makes you wonder why they bother with the lettering system then🤔

I would imagine that any newer model cr80-85 with the same type of forks would use the same fenders. I’m assuming the 89 has the 35mm conventional fork, and Honda at some point went to the USD fork so probably any year front fender from a conventional fork cr front end will work but the color might be different. Rear...

That’s an older engine than an 85 I believe. It looks like a 79cc bore (which most 80’s had til about 1985 when they all went to 82.9cc which was the legal limit in the class).
