If this thread had the title "2 strokes are back at the AMA Nationals" we would be on page 5 already.

Now if they don't have some insane rules about what you can run, the field will be interesting.

As mentioned Sherco and Beta have brand new models that haven't even hit the U.S. yet. Both have downsized frames and all new engines with the latest technology, Sherco with standard e-start and Beta optional. If you can make a 20 year old Japanese bike competitive, there is no doubt these things could do the job.

We'll have to see what kind of rules play out but the races they ran tgis year were pretty much run what ya brung. It would be cool if they kept it the same so you could see 2006 CRs KXs and RMs next to 2018 Betas, Shercos and TMs.

In before page 25... but I think this is absolutely the smartest thing moto has done in ages if true. How many have we seen get bitten by jumping from 85 to 250 and not ready? It will provide some great racing.

So would this be a pro only class, or an application type thing like the triple crown was? If it's open to amateurs I might just have an old CR that I need an excuse to pull out of the garage and build up. . .Whistling

I hope that if they do it, they do it correctly and offer payouts and a championship title. I think we'd see a lot more action and better racing if there was an incentive other than getting to rid a prepped national track.

I'd love to be able to follow the same guys week after week in the championship like I do in the 250 and 450 classes.

Wonder if they will allow guys to compete in this, and the nats? For example, would Stank Dog be allowed to run both events?

If this is the case, can DC please post where I send my money to watch all the 125 races? I am pretty good at media blackout until the Racer X videos are posted, but would love to see the races sooner without spoilers from others.

Thank you.

Shame that with the production rule we will never see the small brands in pro racing. I like the idea of the rule but it fails to deliver since it gives the top teams even more privilege than in the full works days.

I got a 2008 Husky CR125 from original owner. $1200. Needed nothing. Came with new FMF pipe and silencer in the box. Extra shock springs. ASV levers. Front tire was still original. Goes well with my 01 KX250 I got new. Just need more two stroke races.

Especially the "Honda will never build a 2-stroke motorcycle!" part.
Well, it’s all marketing. If a 125 series started back up, had great popularity with riders and fans, and 125’s started rolling off the floor, you could bet your ass that others would start building them too. Can’t let the other brands tap into the revenues without getting their cut.

Yeah, but it seems to be more popular than accepting reality.

The people that fawn over 2007 RM 125’s and 250’s don’t remember how hard they were to sell 10 years ago. Oh, I forgot, it was the ama and the OEM’s that conspired to drive 2 strokes out of existence, not the lack of demand.

Plenty of new smokers out there to buy instead of used Craigslist stuff. Show by buying new.

Yeah, you guys a right. Silly me.

I had some crazy idea that Honda is pressuring the rule makers to keep it as is. Back to reality huh? Sad

Who cares if a manufacturer wont "like it" just because they dont offer a product that fits the class? That is their business decision and it should have NOTHING to do with the racing rules. That is like saying Le Mans should shape their rules so there is a special class for Tesla electric cars. The FIM/AMA/Feld/MX Sports need to harden the F up and just create rules they want, then let the manufacturers deal with those rules how they see fit, manufacturers having too much influence is half the problem with racing today.

Honda has a lot of $$ and helps the decision making.
