Regenerative braking or some type of slight charging off of the front wheel under acceleration. Solar number plates. All to slightly add to battery life. All these techs will advance as well as the electric bikes.

I'm surprised there isn't some form of semi active suspension already. Buttons on the bars that allows adjustments to be made mid race, few click changes here and there.

Realistically it's going to be development in competitive electric bikes.

Apparently them old bikes weren't so bad. Crazy what advancing technique (undoubtedly afforded by new tech) does for the capability for old tech.

The technology I have been waiting for that is already on cars is electronically controlled valving in the suspension. The computer senses the situation and adjusts the suspension valving, particularly when jumping. you could set up the suspension very plush and the computer would stiffen up the valving for jumps, for example, the suspension would have to me fully extended for x seconds at speeds greater than x mph for it to kick in the stiffer valving.

Mountain bikes have the opposite. check out the specialized epic brain shock. Its just a inertia valve, but the shock stays locked out for hills, but as soon as you hit a tree root, it soaks it up. anything that hits the tire, gets soaked up, but you can't make the shock move by bouncing on the seat. Its pretty slick for racing.

Writing code to recognize trends in a graph isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world.

Right now its a "just for fun" project that i'm doing on the side. It would be cool to eventually take to market, though, so that i could spend my week riding instead of working Laughing .
Cool to see some implementation coming. Just like anything else now, you could practically create a social network/massive data base of settings people ran for particular tracks and conditions. I would also think more data to give feedback to an OEM is valuable in the long haul as well.

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more movements from people to create accessible information for fuel injection (ala GET Data or new Yamaha app) and their experience. I know GET has some great support, but I thought there would have been more pull from the "common folk" to make their adjustments/experiences more accessible in some kind of database.

well the suspension should be compressed on the jump face so wouldnt happen, right Wink That is the pount have not having it kick in unless the suspension stays fully extended for a certain length of time.

I still say going for much low center of gravity... This includes going to shorter suspension travel... Jump for the show, corner for the dough... With today's suspension technology is there really a need for 12" of travel, at least in sx where starts and cornering are King?

What about the chain? 120 links of chain is very heavy. In all environments it wouldn't work, but on the mostly clean environments of supercross I often wondered why some light belt drive system wasn't developed.

I also wonder if we will always have the traditional spoke wheel.

Remember the Detroit diesel two strokes? I don't think we will see anymore two stroke diesels. Dirt bikes on the other hand, I expect two strokes to come back to prominence within the next ten years. Hopefully sooner.
That unique Detoit diesel sound, you could pick that sound half a dozen blocks away!

I think a manufacturer will come out with a fly wheel type device with a brake on it, that can change the inertia of the bike... for example torque the front of the chassis down during acceleration, and torque the chassis back while braking into a corner.
