I'm definitely not a fan of his but I would assume his price tag has gone down significantly and would be a pretty good pickup for any team. He might not get the wins some would hope for but like him or hate him it's almost a guarantee he'll run upfront and lead laps at some point in the season which in some cases is more valuable to these teams than just having someone running 10th. I know quite often Barcia was running in 10th this year but no denying he is better than that and if he can get his head right I don't see any reason why he can't win again.

When he was on a Honda 450 is was the lightest bike, didnt work for him then either...

Look it really doesnt matter what bike he is on, it isnt the bike, its his riding style and perhaps a mental thing too. It could also be, and quite simply, that he has reached the limit of how fast he can ride a bike ?

Barcia races like most of the 8 year veterans.
Injury and industry make the moto man slower with father time.
No different than Tickle,Alessi,Brayton,Weimer, burnout is the word.

He has done enough revs for 16 years .

He cant ride a 450. On the odd track outdoors he might get away with it, but over a season, his rev it to the moon style makes the bike not work.

In SX his dumbass decisions do for him most of the time.

Tickle just signed with RedBull KTM on full-factory equipment.
Brayton & Weimer are on near-factory Hondas for 2018 with MCR.

Those guys had no problems getting signed for the new year on solid teams with solid machinery. Seems like the 8-year burnout theory you have is wrong. I do believe it also took these guys (at least Tickle & Weimer) to have a certain amount of humility. I personally don't think Barcia has much of that on tap.

Then what else can he do? If your a rider you change what you have control of. Honda 450 isnt close in weight and personality of the KTM.

I dont think an occasional result means it worked for him...do you? He had results when he was on Honda too, and you can argue more often than not.

Exactly, not a lot he can do IF he has indeed reached his full potential as a rider....

Oh boy did you read my post? ... back when he was on a Honda 450 it WAS lighter than the KTM. Anyhow, lets stop comparing prod bikes to factory bikes, both of the factory bikes probably weight the same ok?

Watching Barcia in about forth for awhile at MXGP you'd swear he was the fastest guy on the track by how far he wrung out his bike compared to AC and JH. But then there are the turns.

You honestly think factory Hondas are 220 lbs?

Let me rephrase the point I'm trying to get across. He needs to be on the most 250f like bike available both in weight and engine characteristics IMO. Something that he can ride aggressively and not something that is tractor like.

Maybe barcia, reed, and Stewart's form a team on FE's.

I actually have no idea, I have never weighed one, but I know they wont weigh the same as a prod bike and are LIKELY to be close to the AMA limit

Or just maybe he would be faster if he was on a 450 with some rider coaching....

Your comment about 'tractors' is interesting, I saw two VERY fast Euro riders riding their bikes without revving the living crap out of them...yes rather tractor like riding style ...oh yes they were KTM's...ironic

Barcia could side step over to endurocross. Then he and colton could bang bars and take each other out.

Barcia will get a deal, maybe not what he is accustomed to, but beyond what would be expected based on his 2017 results. And that's because two factors favor him over other free agents: (1) He is still relatively young compared to some other available veterans (2) He has 450 class wins on his resume, and there is hope he can repeat that level of success.

Just a wild thought: if he stepped down to 250's like some 450 guys did this year, would he dominate the field?

There are 2 ways to go for Barcia.

1, DV coaching technique - pointing out mistakes and tell him how to ride better.
-We have seen this hasnt work out so great at top level. When you start to questioning your riding
and trying to think too much will mess your instincs.

2, Aldon program - refine your program and make you believe you doing right stuff every week.
- 20 years riding and many wins in bag you know how to ride. Yes you can work hard alone
like Dungey and Barcia but can start to think others do better as they got results (RV winning RD)
When you want enough and believe you have whole pack tight together you rise above others.

He needs someone to make him believe. Any KTM, Husky, Honda, Kawasaki or Suzuki will get it done when he gets head together.

Too bad that there are rules that work against good riders like him.

Who would a 250 team want more:

Justin Barcia or the average fast kid from Lorettas.

Same can be said in GPs

Who would a team want:

Paturel or one of the top EMX250 riders
