I need to stay more informed. I always seem to miss when these paradigm shifts happen.
Who knew how he might do against Ramsey,Budman and others ???
I know for sure that Brown didn't show up to just ride around. He doesn't have that gene in him.

I also don't agree that anyone over the age of 25 goes to Loretta's with the hope of being signed by Pro Circuit or Geico by the end of the week. I'm sure even the most sheltered, naïve 25 year old has probably come to the realization that they aren't going to go pro and make it to the "big time."
I also don't believe it's fair to expect a fast (on a local/regional level) 30- or 40-something year old weekend warrior, working 9-to-5 to support his family to "get over it" and "get faster" so he can compete against a decorated champion (Mike Brown in this example) who eats, sleeps and trains to make his living competing on a factory-supported dirt bike.
You can say it's OK because you are a fan of the rider but it's still just another form of sandbagging and one of the main reasons why my family and I don't race anymore.
Brown is an inspiration and I for one am glad to see him out there still doing it at this level at his age. More props to him.
To be continued here in a bit......
For years the one rule that governed the Olympic games was that only amateur athletes were allowed to compete. Professional athletes were not permitted until popularity of the games took off when the games were televised. The IOC realized that the Olympics could make lots of money so to bring in more viewers the IOC decided to allow the most famous athletes in the world to compete and many of them were professionals.
The pros are there for a reason; People will watch the athletes they know which means increased viewership and more $$ for the IOC (sound familiar MX Sports?).
I like the color you bring here with your stuff. Hope all is well with you.

Some of us here are just wanting a class we can race in without racing ex pro riders. i would love to see a vet am and vet pro at Loretta's. I think it would be a win win for all of us. People like yourself that where once pros wanna race, have fun and can still race at LL. Then people like myself that would like to race the best vet ams across the county. I Hope this doesn't come across wrong, because I have huge respect for you and your accomplishments!
You wanna race the "slow" vets then wait till you 30+. You're probably still gonna get your ass kicked then, but atleast it'll be by someone nobodies ever heard of and you can go home feeling like it was fair and square.
I think it's awesome that old fast guys like Brownie and Luke Vonlinger still enjoy dirt bikes enough to get out there and race, let them do it in peace. Otherwise they'll just give up and retire properly and why should that be their fate just because once they were crazy fast?
In all honesty Mike Brown is top 3 fastest 125 riders I've ever seen on a 125 at shoug. And I've been going since 97. That was back in 2001 though....
I get both sides of the issue, to a degree. But, I bet we see Brown racing the vet class instead of the mainstream classes from now on...if he races at LL again.
