Talk about 2 face bullshit. Fined because it is wrong to do but let's play the hell out it for our OWN personal gain.

Since Pro Circuit protested it and won let's just stop buying their products/services for eternity.

Good point. Never even crossed my mind either

As much as I want our sport to grow and grow to be more mainstream, shit like this makes me realize it's still not ready. Unless Gallagher is gone and it becomes a panel with set guidelines and rules for penalties. It's just a gentlemens weekend club away from their wives. Joke.

Agree! This is a complete Joke. They should let RC or MC be the official. At least they have experience to back up decisions.

AMA sucks
AMA has ALWAYS sucked.Angry

Fixed it for you.

It's an AMA tradition that stretches back to the late 60's when motocross came to the USA. You know, back when they pulled professional licenses from riders for riding races that weren't AMA sanctioned.

Or let Kerry Kleid get a professional license because they didn't know she was a female and then rescinded it later when they finally figured out Kerry was a uni-sex name.Tongue And then later gave it back to her.

And ask Honda how they feel about the rule changes that Harley got passed to basically outlaw the RS750 in flat tracking back in the 80's.

Won't even get into their success in keeping tracks open or land use issues.Dry

I think they need three ex riders unaffiliated with current teams to review protests like this. Then 2 out of three votes carries it. Has any actual current or ex pro, other than savagty, called this a bad pass?

The fine was worth doing. Otherwise it's a slippery slope of take outs. Perhaps it's an effort to keep the sport from devolving into the mud. Sure there are "other" take outs to point to and that is a legitimate argument. Maybe they should outlaw take outs all together? At least it wouldn't require so many judgment calls.
I understand your perspective, but doesn't the fine really set the standard for take outs. After all, the message sent is if you take someone out to win the championship, the worst that happens is a fine. I suspect most riders would take that trade.

BTW: I don't think a penalty was warranted.

Take out. Obviously haven't looked at the pics or watched the race more than once. Definitely not a "take out". Aggressive? Yes. Not at all dirty.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I see it the same way. Just an aggressive pass. But they penalized it as something else.

Every job in the world has standards that employees have to live by. Is there any standard that defines a take out. This is so subjective. It's not a punch. Or should I say a slap. This is an agressive pass that was not at all dirty. Does the AMA have different standards for Arenacross. Is it defined. The JV league aggressive block passing is encouraged. Then the guys get to the Varsity level and now it's a fine. Stupid....... No SOP. Cmon don't do this to our sport ....

Zach should argue that since he was ahead of Joey at the time. Joey should be fined. Zach was in front and he turned down he did not T bone or aim for any contact. Joey was not concentrating all night long and just rode into him ! IMO Zach's move hard but fair. Punish Zach because Joey was sloppy !

For a pass that may... and probably did attract more non-scooter people to the sport than any other spectacle this year.

Who made this decision?

Sorry bro wasn't trying to be a jerk. This just sucks. And this means we are going down a bad road. It mirrors society and I don't like the direction. This is gonna take some thoughtful and intelligent people to make decisions that are good for the sport, not for the liberals. We are going to loose our own sport. It does need to grow but this shit has got to be fixed

WTF...it was either a good pass and Zack gets the title (which most of us agree is the case) ....or it was a bad pass and Savatgy gets the title. AMA is essentially saying that was a bad pass, but we'll give him the title anyways. That makes no sense. A fine is negative reinforcement to deter that rider from doing the same thing, he was fined for, in the future. Giving Zack the title is positive reinforcement encouraging him to do that exact same "manuever" if he ever finds himself in that situation again. How do you tell someone to never do that again.....but if you do, we'll give you the championship anyway? Fining him and awarding him the championship = Bipolar AMA!

BTW, I agree with giving Zack the title....not the fine. I think that was a heroic race by Super Zack Osborne!......and I feel gutted for Savatgy!
summary here says it all, don't call em the motoxdoc for nothing I guess. seriously, last lap, last corner for the championship and you don't try and stuff the guy you need to?? I was never an aggressive type of rider but if it came to the last corner and my buddy was leading who i needed to beat to win the championship and the way I make a living for my family....naaa, don't need to flip a coin here. i know gallagher and don't agree with all his decisions but this one sounds like it came from above...just saying....too bad as Zack rode a great season and race only to have it tainted with the fine. nobody has disagreed about the way he won it, was it a take out...damn straight...not near as Bam Bams or Alessi/Tickle and or Anderson unfortunately taking out Reed as I believe Reed would of changed that race finish and quite possibly the championship...we'll never know now

1. Might as well shut down Arenacross. RC's Road to Supercross is littered with and built around close quarter full contact racing. How can THAT be considered the stepping stone to a series where you will be fined for the type of racing that qualified you to step up to said series???

2. I used to be of the opinion that Mitch Payton was/is one of the greatest things to happen to the sport of MX/SX. As much as it pains me to say it, if he was the one behind this protest (hopefully it was a Kawasaki corp decision), my opinion of him isn't exactly what it used to be. Say it ain't so Mitch!

3. I hereby nominate Bob Hannah for Referee. Buckwheat will get this shit straightened out in short order! Wink

Haha no, I'm legitimately curious. Who do the riders write the check to? And what does that money go to?

Probably still trying to scrounge up enough to pay Dingman's attorney fee's.

Savatagy was riding around with his head in the clouds, in 7th place, thinking he had this thing in the bag.

Zach was taking it very seriously and RACING his heart out in his "NEVER SAY DIE" mode. He was going SO much faster than Savatagy down that whoop section and had a bead on the spot he was going to make his pivot for the turn.

Savatagy realized it was Osborne at the last second, gassed it and drove into Osborne.

Savatagy threw away the championship the week before, proving that he'd go as far as cut the track to win. He's the one that should be fined.

Osborne is the TRUE CHAMPION of that class.

Late 60's? You must not have watched the mini series Harley and the Davidsons? The AMA were crooks and thieves all the way back to the 30's.

And for someone who claims to have "nothing to do with pro racing", how the hell do they actually enforce a penalty or fine?

UNFUCKING believable that so many people have voted FOUL on the RACERX website in the poll about Osborne's pass.

To all of them who think the pass was wrong, I will ask, "Do you even race Bro?" "Have you EVER raced Bro?"

That's some right funny shit right there. Constantly mailing me, a paid life member, requests for donations while they are out at the car races.Laughing

Un fucking believable!! Christian craig got last gate pick for ending alex martin's season with a blatant takeout in practice.

The officiating is truly pathetic smh

Dudes wearing thier girlfriends (or "significant other" to be all global and shit...) pants/skirt while plugging in their "e" smart-car at the all-organic neighborhood market next to their safe-space-juice-bar.

That's who is voting "not fair".
I don't know which is worse, the grammar or the context of the post..

You're starting to sound like an angry old man Cool

P.S. The fine was BS!
