Okay I may have missed ether the thread
Or forum on the test ride interview
With Blake Wharton on the new Alta
Electric moto bike.
That SH*T was bad. Every question asked
Blake gave in my opinion the worst answer or easily the opposite of what I or most human beings would have said.
Don't take a pay check from someone and give that bad of answers , it just decredits
Your opinion and ability for anybody to take
You serious.

got to agree, really bad. little insight on how it performed. was the power like a 250, 350, 450, did he get tired riding it, how long sessions did he do, how did the chassi feel and compare to regulsr bikes.

Agree. That was a weird interview. Blake seemed uninterested and there was very little information around comparison to a gas bike. Wondered if this was the unedited version.id be pissed if I was Alta

Between that and the RV video they have not done a great set of videos

I agree not a good interview by Blake. Didn't seem too interested.
I really didn't learn much about the bike from that.

Sorry if my text came out like that but I sent
this through my IOS. So maybe it looks different on your computer.
Two major things bothered me about the interview.
1- quite bikes making it safer for passing the person In front of you? Give me a break.
That's why he hit the guy in front because the guy couldn't hear him coming.
2- When asked about the negative aspects
And he runs with a blanket answer then ask
Alta if they would have said anything different or want to add something.

Sucky interview leads me to believe Blake, deep down, thinks the bike sucks.

I understood where he was coming from with the safety while passing a slower rider. Some people are pretty intimidated to be on the track with faster riders (maybe they shouldn't be out there then, I'm not sure) and when they hear someone coming up behind them they automatically assume they're in the persons way and swerve from the middle of the track to the edge and could potentially collide with that person. If you don't know the persons coming you won't think any different and hold your line like you're supposed to.

He wasn't speaking at the pro level where they all know the fast lines and get out of the way accordingly, he's talking about public tracks where you have all types of bikes and all skill levels.

Blake is a pretty cool cat and to be honest what exactly do you expect him to say riding the thing for basically the first time on a real track. And actually he did have some insight if you paid attention. For me the proof was in the video and it looked to me like he was getting around on it pretty damn good.

Good interview. No stammering, spoke well, and answered the questions. Sometimes there just isnt any earth shattering information. As an internal interview, you get the questions that they want the audience to know the answers to.

The way he answers questions is weird. Like he can't say what he knows the interviewer wants him to say? Or doesn't want to? Doesn't know how? I don't know.

I agree with you that the interview was a bit vague,

However:

1. Blake is a good guy and he looked very good on that bike from what we could see
2. Maybe Alta has given him instructions on what to say or what not. If he says anything really bad it could kill their bike and brand.
3. In my opinion his riding did a lot of talking. He was riding that thing well.

To the OP...umm wut? Talking about the video interview on Racer X right? If anything sucked it was the guy giving the interview!! It was like some sort of rough cut. Blake answered every question he was asked. He didn't seem biased negatively or positively. Would you prefer a corporate shill? Some kind of carnival barker infomercial dork? I don't get the bashing on Blake whatsoever.

What about him almost taking that guy out heading into the left hander? 1:28. Hit his bars.

I agree. Something odd with that interview. Not the right questions? Is he high?

And in related news, can they just make the fool things with noisemakers so they sound like the stroke bike of your choosing, maybe at half volume? Silent bikes are just weird, and I can't imagine what it would feel like to be out there racing in a whole pack of them.

I didn't really notice anything too weird, he just actually thought about the questions rather than giving the same old canned answers. I thought he gave great insight on the balance of the bike, as well as the initial hit of the motor. I totally agree with him when he suggests that a lot of people mistake a hard hit on the bottom end for speed, if anything I like the bike to be super mellow on the bottom and then ramp up, which it sounds like is an option given how much you can control the power delivery on the Alta.

Exactly. If these Nancy's didn't have something to complain about they wouldn't know how to get through the day.

I thought it was a good interview. Actually kind of insightful.

Seemed like Blake was saying they've done the development work prior to taking it racing. It's time to take it racing and it may take a season or two to fine tune it. Similar to what KTM has done prior to Dungey getting there.

Two major things bothered me about the interview.
1- quite bikes making it safer for passing the person In front of you? Give me a break.
That's why he hit the guy in front because the guy couldn't hear him coming.
2- When asked about the negative aspects

I think you need to watch it again. I did not take away that he was saying that the quiet bike makes it safer to pass. In fact, I took the exact opposite away. He asked him "what kind of things to you think could be improved on, or that your old bike had and you wish that this did". Blake then talks about how the bike is quite and that he ran into someone because of it. Then says "It would be a good thing" meaning, it would be good if they could add some sound so that when I'm lapping someone I can rev my engine at them and they will get out of the way.
I thought it was a good interview from Blakes stand point. The only weird part to me was asking the Alta guy at the end "anything else you want me to say".

The audio of the interview was about as loud as the bike.

That was just a "move over", love tap.

"Almost taking that guy out"? Please.

Never mind.

As to the question of Blake not saying much...he usually doesn't. He's not exactly the top guy I would pick to interview about technical bike stuff. But, I suppose they paid him to look good on the bike, and give his opinion. He did just that...just some of us would have preferred to hear it.

It's open practice. No need to get that close to others especially if you are going twice their speed.
