Stupidity maybe? That would have been a great race to go the full time. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the race but those few missing minutes robbed us way worse that anything Sir Chad did last week.

I hate being negative and I know dirt werks (sp?) does a good job making sure there is a track to race. However, the tracks are so cookie-cutter that it is boring to see. They have the dragons backs every week, the on-off tabletops, the standard triple, and weak rhythm lanes. I have heard the reasoning behind the standardization of jumps, and combos, are to improve safety. I think there are ways to build cool creative tracks and keep them safe. I think I may start a thread about this.

Every West round this year has been a muddy mess saved from disaster by Dirt Wurx and the only slippery hard track was, I think, Toronto?

But yeah folks will still say, Christian Craig should have been on the West Coast because "he can't ride those East Coast style tracks..."
The second part is about the most right your gonna get! Dirtworx saved this round and almost every other west race from complete mess and made it almost better then most races. Those guys are great with equipment. Tonight was nothing less then another save.

Layout wasnt the best, but the conditions made it one if the best of the year as far as passing opportunities and rhythm choices.

You are right. Not gunna do it. I really don't like being negative. I think dirtwurks is probably in a tough position and have certain criteria that has to meet the promoters bottom line. I think the promoters would be wise to allow for more variety of design and creativity. Tonight's track was better than a lot this year, but maybe that was due to the fact it was a longer track.

I wondered that too Crush, could have made for more intense racing and a complete different outcome. Oh well, I doubt we'll ever know.

That's what we were wondering we got there early in the morning it rain just a teeny little bit but nothing to even talk about they had the track and covered by noon and it looks to be in great shape I think they easily could have run all the motos I think the track workers just didn't want all the extra work of fixing it

I think if feld gave norman the leeway he would make stuff really really unique. You guys need to remember he gets a dossier to go by every weekend and if those instructions don't go on the floor right he is the guy that has to adjust the track map. Every weekend he has to change minor (or major) stuff, how would you of liked that whoop section to turn and go back into the same thing, another soggy whoop section? He changed that into a section that provided much better racing in the rollers to a front side table step over. I loved it!! He is a guy who runs races every weekend when he isn't creating tracks for us to watch on TV or for me to race on or during summer, he has his own track and normal job at his own race track he practices working on! He is a moto guy, not a worker of the normal standard and this year you could see him turn moosh into a race track. Don't forget that. West Coast was saved by him on my opinion. Look at the series we got this year, he made the material with his crew we dissect every moment of coverage. Tonight was another great night of racing.

That section after the finish line was the trickiest section in the whole track I think almost every rider had a oh s*** moment there at least once every Moto

I would like to see a return of the semi rider designed tracks from a few years ago when certain riders had input into a single round, those were the best tracks to be designed

They don't even need to do that. There is 35 years of Sx on tape, pick 17 designs that produced great racing and replicate it... Add 25% more dirt so the concrete is never exposed, some fucking nets for big berms for passing opportunities... Done.

Track layout and great racing goes hand in hand and is maybe the easiest thing to fix in the entire sport... They've got their heads up their asses.

Seemed like it provided opportunity for some very skilled riders to do amazing things on a dirt bike that many of us probably would have thought not possible, as crazy as it looked on tv, imagine the view the riders had. MM, Dungey, Tomac, Anderson, Webb, and Plesinger.......wow, incredible speed!

My understanding was, it got covered but the winds kept blowing the covers off and the track was extremely moist, hence the lime coverage to wick some of the moisture out. After all of the complaints about sketch dangerous tracks when they break down so much, shortening the race was a way to prevent a possible sketch track. Better safe than sorry measure

The Dirt Wurx crew, Like Jeff said, has essentially saved this season with all of their work. The track was far better than most thought it was going to be considering all of the rain in the area. What the fuck do some of you people want? Lets some of you whiners do better. I can't imagine the amount of work it takes to salvage some of the tracks they had to this year. The racing was absolutely epic, and the track was nothing short of gnarly. Can't ask for a better season of SX racing in either class.

I just don't think 3 mins less race time makes a difference... Would it have been unrideable?

It wasn't even muddy. Who cares it was broken down. We're 35 years in to SX, I could name a bunch of tracks that have been worse by a country mile without breaking a sweat, and if it is bad, so fucking what, they go slower.

It seems like an AMA pandemic now that if the track isn't perfectly prepped loam or no ruts in SX the world will end... like if the laptimes get too far outside practice laps with primo prep it's a bad thing.

Best AMA event to watch last year was Muddy creek because the track was slick, chewed up and shit, and watching the pros deal with that expertly is what MX (USED) to be about.

Everyone can have their own opinion. From the comfort of my couch I thought it was the best track so far this year. Soft and rutted is the way to go.

Thats what I was thinking. They were still running sub 1 min laptimes at the end of the main correct ? Strange.

I think this was one of the best races of the season. That makes it a great track imo!
What the riders think is another story, but i could care less. Its not me out there riding those ruts lol! i just want good racing

That's the best they can do for a track? Horrible

Only the Koch brothers and Rothschild family trust have the power to control the weather. Kenneth Feld hasn't made it to that level yet.

X100

I dont get it.

BTW I thought the whole event had a weird vibe for me, felt almost like a I was watching minor league ball.
250 West field was very week after the top 5.

My DVR also thought it was a lackluster event as it did not record it!

Good thing I checked on it and hit record for the 450 Semi's

BTW- Jason Anderson just moved over and let Tomac go by twice...didnt even put up a fight. If I am RD, Jasons off my XMas card list.

I like watching tracks that make the best of the best look like C riders.

Like this track bit Eli. Proves he's human, made a slight mistake and down you go.

On the other hand, watching Plessy, Eli etc do the triple triple triple in those conditions proves just how good these guys really are also.

In conclusion, as a fan of racing, this track was awesome. Shit was crazy, everyone making mistakes, and it was NOT boring like so many perfect tracks.

In timed practice "the top guys are all within a half second of each other we are going to have some great racing" really means the track is simple (relative to SX racers) and the guy with the hole shot is gonna win. After race you hear winner say "I was hitting my marks" which really means this was just like my practice track and I was bored but won.
Seattle was different and produced the best racing this year. It gave RD and ET the chance to recover from their bad starts because of how much their skill mattered on a gnarly track.
