In the 17 years I was an A-Star Athletic Trainer I missed 2 races. During that time I NEVER got hit nor got close to getting hit. I credit this to experience and knowledge from my time racing BMX and working with riders at the practice tracks during the week. ALSO I credit my PARENTS for teaching me to look...

Not defending McAdoo, but that Astericks worker ran parallel and then crossed over as soon as Justin snuck by. They definitely have their blinders on this season. We're going to need a mobile medical unit for the mobile medical unit if they don't figure things out.

We are a 6d family and by looking at weight I’m assuming it’s (F) on the chart. And wonder if they used a ATR1 or a ATR2? If (F) could lower its weight 144grams it would have taken the (fly) test. Would be cool to see an non helmet group do the test with names.

I am sorry but this report is less than scientific. Where's the correlation coefficient to show strength of cause and effect? And even then, it doesn't prove anything. Even in the best of designs, there is never conclusive evidence that one thing causes another, only that there is relational strength and weakness. Or that there is , no correlation at all. I am for all the safety in the world but the more safe you feel, the more likely you are to engage in unsafe behavior thus causing injuries to that would have not happened either way. How many of...

I didnt See in the article anywhere mentioning the percentage of riders who wear a neck brace vs ones who dont, but here’s something to think about. Many more people ride without braces. So whats to say the number of injuries (When a neck brace is warn) would not go up if the number of riders wearing neck braces went up? You need to look at the total percentage of riders wearing neck braces compared to the percentage of the injuries with and without neck braces. Numbers for argument sake. 265 total Critical Cervical Spine Injuries. 90.5% without a brace...

Eddie, What you said about the parent of the athlete who was referred to you is all too normal. Athletes with a brain issues often dismiss or deny symptoms because they are not in their right mind due to the injury. I think parents, sponsors and team managers all need to take more responsibility when protecting these athletes. Also I am finishing up TMS treatment myself, hoping it will jumpstart my damaged neuropathways. So far so good, it’s been life saving for me! What do you think about TMS for guys like Evans, Swink, Moats and many others? Keep up...

Ever since I got cut from the Alpinestars Medical Team because budget issues regarding the CONCUSSION PROGRAM I decided to take a step back from the moto scene. If you're in a position to help, Jeff sure could use a hand, as heart disease has him headed for a transplant. If you're unfamiliar with Iron, he's been a familiar face in the pits since the early 80s, and well-known for his involvement with a few different sports nutrition companies...as well as also being an endurance athlete. https://www.gofundme.com/iron-montgomery039s-heart-transplant?fbclid=Iw…

Mine started on his bicycle on his 3rd birthday after 20 mins of trying. He was on training wheels for less then 2 weeks before that. He rode a pw like 4 months later after taking 1 lap around the yard with my buddy. Then about 20 mins in he squared up to a hill and ramp the hillside to the road while we just watched with out telling him to try it. He made it to Loretta's riding/racing once a month. He is one of those kids I would have hated, but would have picked to be on my...

I may add a few things regarding the reimbursement from the insurance. 1. The more documentation you can give your insurance the better. Simply sending a prescription may not cut it. Ask for the doctors notes and make sure in those notes it states the reason why the doctor wants you in a brace. 2. Call your insurance and see how much they cover for a knee brace. Make sure you provide them the L-code L-1810-1832. If you have a deductible that hasn't been met ask if the purchase can go towards the deductible. Often times the insurance will credit...
