well if he won the remaining 8 races that would be 24 points for the tie but he would have the most wins. not likely but anything could happenhe really needs the dunge to just have one bad night. something weird to happen like what happened to Anderson last night

A Dunge DNF would be the best thing for everyone at this point, but that wont happen

What Eli needs is for Dungey to have a run in with Friese, Ando, Barcia etc and hit the dirt. Or even go down in a first corner. Barring a Dungey crash or mechanical. Ryan will do his thing, and his thing is winning titles.

Hell, even with a mechanical, Dungey would be 1 point down. It's entirely possible that he earns more points than Eli over the last 8 rounds.

My prediction, Eli finishes with more wins, Dunge finishes with more points. He's just too god on his bad days

Brian Kranz pitboard needs a picture of Roczens arm on the back of it. Just show it to Dungey every lap

It's funny, anything can happen and this championship is over with so many races left?

I think this weekend is Tomac's best opportunity to get a chunk of points if he can win. Baggett should be up front if things trend like they have been. He should be better at Daytona. If Eli wins and can get any of the top 6 guys in between him and Dungey then he will at least put some race win pressure on Dungey. I'd also like to think Marvin will come out swinging. It's not over by any means but it will take help from other riders for Eli to win. Winning out would be a surprise but if he can make a 5+ point change this week then he will have a better shot IMO. This weekend is where the championship begins or ends.

I would hope not but honestly I don't know. Would be nice if they would race it out instead of let him have it but I'm sure they have been told not to race too hard.

But what a championship we would have if not Tomac DNF.

I like seeing Tomac win these races, but I'll say that I think Dungey will extend his points lead to more than it is now by the last race.

Dungey knows how to win championships. Barring a mechanical, I don't see him losing. On any given night he'll play his best cards for the title. Some nights he won't touch Tomac, on others he'll get the start and be feeling good and win. I don't think Tomac can win out. I do think Dungey can be consistently good. I feel people don't give Dungey credit for his speed. His speed at which he can keep it two wheels night in and night out is second to none. Being a little faster at times but crashing as a result is not a way to win a title. There are 8 races left, assuming they average 21 laps, that's 168 laps of racing in the finals. For a 168 lap race, I like Dungey.

Tomac will go something like 1-1-1-8-1-6-9-1

I don't see Tomac having the consistency to come back from the points deficit, although he has the speed to win on any given day and will probably take more wins from now until the end of the season than Dungey.

Nailed it. This type of scenario is where Dungey thrives. It makes people crazy that want to see a runaway type chanpionship.

If Tomac had been more consistent then Dungey wouldn't have such a great lead. Stop hating on Dungey just because he's smarter.
Dungey isnt lucky? LMAO whatever dude...Dungey is literally the one and ONLY rider who never has any kind of problems! He absolutely NEVER has a mechanical problem what so ever, and if he ever goes down its always in practice or a heat race! Literally every other rider on the track has problems atleast 1 time a year! Yeah Dungey is a great super nice guy, he is very consistent but to say hes not lucky is ignorant as hell! To be honest Dungey isn't even close to the fastest guy out there either! He can't chases guys down like Tomac can, like Roczen can, like Webb can etc... Ryan Dungey is simply BY FAR the most lucky rider on the track, and thats a fact! Dungey has had atleast 2 championships straight up handed to him due to the top guy having bad luck and getting hurt or having bike problems! Sorry, but its the truth and there's no denying it!

As far as Tomac and being able to win the championship! Coming from a diehard Tomac fan, It wont happen...They need to change the damn points system and they know this...they have talked about it for how many years now but instead they go and change it to timed mains instead of lapped! Supercross is honestly turning into the whole Nascar Jimmy Johnson kind of boring thing...Nascar finally got smart and changed the points system and now look how much more exciting the chase is every year! Guys like Villapoto and Dungey make the sport boring as hell! It sucks having the championship decided 2 or 3 weeks before Vegas even comes around! It seems pretty silly that Tomac has 4 or 5 wins and Dungey only has 2 but yet Dungey could sit at home next week and come back still in 1st lol...that makes no sense and needs to change!

Maybe Tomac's mechanic can throw a stick in Dungey's spokes. Eli is sponsored by monster so there would obviously be no penalty.

Southwick, 4 on the floor hand shifter, electrical, and more. Dungey has had numerous mechanicals. Others on here, with more knowledge about all of his issues, will have plenty more than I mentioned. Considerably more than never.

Dungey was last at the start Saturday night. It wasn't practice or a heat race. Those are real facts, not facts of opinion.

Your post has taken fail to a new level.

UHHGG!.....Haha ok.

1.) This past weekend , RD was in 11th around the first turn...he worked up to 2nd. So you saying " he isn't fast , and just lucky ".....is way off the mark.

2.) RD has had rear shock failures ,Bent shift lever doing suicide shift , ran out of gas and other weird things happen in the past.

3.) Nascar doesn't do the chase points system any more.

4.) If the chase system was in place , and everyone's points got set to zero at the halfway mark....doesn't that totally screw over the guys who came into the season prepped and ready?

I dig RD , but Eli is and has been my favorite rider for quite some time. But I'm not ignorant enough to sit here and tell everyone that he's won everything he has won...on luck alone.

Bwahahaha!

Dungey hasn't had ANY problems?
(I remember bikes that wouldn't run leaving the pit, broken shocks, shifting the shifter with his HAND, running out of gas...&...A BROKEN BACK!)

Dungey's handed his results? See Jeffro's post above.

Dungey ain't fast? Seems to me he WINS races every year. Oh, and there's this...

Every damn year people say the same stupid shit; and, Ryan goes out and wins...
He WINS Races AND Titles.

Quick summary of your post.

Well...in supercross in order to win a championship you need the most points. You get points by finishing the race. So in order for Tomac to beat Dungey he will have to have more points then Dungey at the end. Laughing

Just to clear something up, NASCAR does still have the points reset. They no longer call it a chase, it's now call it postseason or playoffs, and when the postseason starts the points are reset to 2000, plus any bonus points the drivers earned or accrued during the season.

1. Top 8 starts max.
2. To keep it on 2 wheels.

24 points down, with a high probability that it will be 21 points after Daytona, everything is still possible.

How does Tomac win a championship?

By not having Dungey or Roczen as his competitors.
3/6/2017 11:12am
You cant win the championship in the first few races but you sure as heck can lose it and that is what Tomac did when he was not fully prepared at the start of the season. He may have taken himself out after fading so bad the first three races. There is a reason Dungey has the red plate with a number 1 on it. Tomac could still win it but he sure made it hard on himself.

You went full retard. Tomac screwed himself by not being ready at the start of the season and fading back at the first three races so no new point system is needed for your boy just because he wasn't ready. Dungey has had several bike issues and injuries and you don't seem to have any clue what you are talking about. KTM not shifting, Suzuki not starting etc.
