I heard he didn't have a ride for MX. Should he just stop and buy a bike on the way to Hangtown?
He had a ride, I think it was money. He still needs a lot of money to race. Goggles, gear, oil, chains etc. don't put fuel in or tires on the rig, pay insurance, drivers, mechanics and so on. I get it about getting in late. People are racing around trying to get their giys ready. I guess he really sees whar sitting out gets you.

Was anyone one here in the room when contract negotiations were going on with James and Malcolm?? Humm anyone? Everything is rumors and conjecture hell even the so called Industry Internet experts have no clue as to James and Malcolm deal and does anyone even think for one minute that Malcolm is going to tell what deal James has or not have in a interview! So what if Dean is racing out of sprinter van I bet Dean isn't going to to tell all either! Hell James could end up riding a Honda as far we know! Smh carry on..

Being at the first two rounds and scoring points out of a sprinter shows that you are serious about racing. Sitting at home waiting for bikes and a semi shows that you're ??? And what kind legitimacy is that if you are not there at all. He should already know the reprocussion of that.

Funny how this is quite the opposite of what he said before Christmas " I will be at A1" and something about the "sprinter route"

I am a fan of the Stewart's but goddamn they sure make it difficult to constantly chase the dangling carrot of info

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Can't wait to see how he does

I do not see a semi as a need. It is a luxury and a waste of a lot of money just to "keep up with the Jones'".

I own a small trucking company so I might know a thing or 2 about the expenses. Then add moto expenses on top... Not worth it.

I always thought that truck Weston used a few years back was pretty cool. Anyone happen to have any pictures of that one?

"...A Privateer effort...."

Free bike,
Works level Showa suspension,
Yosh race engines (cheap price compared to a real privateer)
Full blown race semi,
Free gear from the Seven line & i'm assuming he's still connected with Gaerne and Shoei for free product,
Monetary support from RIDE365,
Who knows how many factory Suzuki parts leftover from Big Bro's Suzuki

This is by far not a privateer effort. Self-funded effort, yes, but not privateer level. Irks me...rant over.
a privateer effort implies that it is funded by the individual who is using them. He has no team that is paying or providing all expenses or parts.

Just because he is getting top of the line parts simply means he has more money to build his bike, vs someone like enticknap who has a smaller bank account.

A self funded effort IS a privateer. he's just not starving

Let's hope these two put on a good show. From late 2015's 2016 predictions:

Who is the worst rider to have right behind you?
That’s a tough one. For me, it’s tough, last year I’d say in the 250 West, Malcolm was, he’s really fast and he can match just about anybody’s speed on any given night and he’s really, really fast in the whoops. He’s a tough competitor. He definitely goes for it, so it makes it tough. And if you’re kind of riding not quite on your edge, you can always expect Malcolm to be up in you, trying to make you ride over your head, which obviously sometimes can bite you, but can also bite him as well. So I’d have to say Malcolm. —Cooper Webb

A semi could also be seen as a 'traveling' advertisement which is a tax deduction.

Indeed.... Non " Factory " yes.... but privateer aka dude out of his van...No....

I couldnt stand hearing " Chad Reed the Privateer " back in 2011..... Sure dude was " sponsoring himself "....but i never thought it as a privateer....the word is stretched thin these days...

Not to be 'that' guy but isn't Deano racing out of a sprinter? Don't gotta pit out of a semi. Whatever.
No, a company helped him out and supplied him with an RV/bus

No one is a true privateer these days, to be fair most all privateers get pretty much the same fronted cost on their motors, the difference is who is going to take the time to actually build you an engine. I know where I work, we won't just take in anybody at anytime. Who builds the engine is huge.

What a complete load of BS . So you are telling me that Malcolm's season all hinged on some kid they give gear to . He didn't have 5999 for a RMZ ? And then he can't even say who gave him a bike. . Ok

So much crying here.

"Oh, why isn't he racing A1?"

He answers.

"Oh, that's not a good enough excuse, you coulda bought bikes and a three rail trailer and been there!"

He gets his shit somewhat together and says he's gonna race the next round.

"Oh, why does he need all that much truck? Why doesn't his pipe match his engine? Where's his big brother? Why won't he say who he bought his bikes from?"

Holy crap guys. IT'S DIRT BIKE RACING, go back to watching Celebrity Apprentice or something...

Andrew short rode out of a sprinter van and won Seattle SX a week later. You don't need a big truck to do big things!

Andrew Short's stuff was transported to the race the week before in a sprinter, then he pitted out of Honda's rig at Seattle (factory bike btw). Just clearing that up.

Malcom could have been riding and developing the equipment he's gonna be on for the last 3 months. Much like Deano, make a plan B and start getting ready in case plan A doesn't happen.

Thanks TeamGreen anyone that vaguely followed the sport that season was jus' knowin as well

How do you develop a bike if you don't even know what brand you should be on? Why would he develop a Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki if a potential Suzuki deal was in the works? Why would he develop a Suzuki if a potential Yamaha deal was in the works? I'm certain you get the point by now...

Do you seriously think there were multiple offers from multiple manufacturers on the table? If so when do you think those offers expired? Early December when all spots were filled. We're now 2.5 weeks past A1.

Get it yet?

Can you please shed some light on the Yoshimura motor with FMF exhaust? Is there any validity to this? Is it common? If I had to guess, yoshimura wouldn't be developing motors with their competitors product in mind!
