Barcia shouldnt be calling anyone a pussy bc hes the biggest pussy in our sport. For a guy who hasnt lived up to his expectations and gets payed way more than he deserves he should keep his mouth shut and respect his elders.

250 Nationals is a major.

The reality is that 125/250/lites whatever it has been over the years, is split into regional coasts. Do 125/lites sx titles count for the greats like RC, Reed, RV, I think so.

It's just a way to discredit riders that people don't like "O sure, he has a regional title, that's it". Then on the other hand when they like a rider it's more like "he's a past champion, he deserves a ride!"
There are a lot of riders that have never won any championships but are complete bad asses. Look at K-Dub. He only won a regional but he is revered.

I think Barcia is a great rider. Does he need something to get over this slump of not winning, yes. Can DV help him do that, possibly and it would be worth a try.

Also, I am pretty sure Barcia worked with 6 Time Jeff Stanton for a couple years when he was on Honda. I'm pretty sure Jeff has the credentials.

People don't say RC is a 16 Ama champ. They say 15.

For real? I had no idea, so people literally don't count a regional title as a championship?

I'd say it's good on a resume, but typically they aren't counted among a rider's AMA titles.

Thanks, I never even noticed this.

1. There is no evidence that DV is or could be a good coach to someone at Barcia's level. Sure, he could probably help your 10 year old son develop some decent technique and ride well, but the idea that he could take someone like Barcia over the hump would need to be proven out and so far only exists in DV's head.

2. The longer DV is retired, the more his legend grows - just cause he hangs out on pulp and posts here the odd time, doesn't mean his accomplishments should be exaggerated - cause he's cool and 'one of us....kinda'

3. He seems to believe he knows more than has ever been proven out in practice - if he did have all this valuable knowledge and insight, teams, riders, people would have been calling. He's a legend only in his own mind.

4. His history shows he probably wouldn't have the patience and willpower to put the time in and work on the details to work with a rider at the level of Barcia. It's a lot tougher than sitting on the couch saying someone's suspension isn't setup properly... when the going got tough and if the results didn't come right away and questions started coming, DV would probably fold up his tent and leave Barcia on his own fairly quickly.

5. The idea that he would respond by saying how many cars he could buy says a lot about the guy.......

Agree with this /\

IMO DV was always over rated as championship material....I know he was on track to do some damage in 2002 or ? but that ended in a unfortunate crash. Out side of that results faded quickly. He was blinding fast for a few years on the 2 stroke...not sure he has the ability to transfer his knowledge to a top tier rider.

I disagree. I believe DV is one of the few people who are willing to tell things how they are despite any backlash he might receive.

Some of these riders are primadonnas that are surrounded by a bunch of yes men and butt buddies. Day in and day out, their posse will hype them up, building false confidence instead of being critical. DV has been at the top. Just because he didn't win championships doesn't mean his critiques are illegitimate. It takes a unique individual to be able to break down a particular rider's technique and analyze where alterations can be made.

That said, if DV and Barcia seriously wanted to make a go of it. I would say a very short term contract should be signed. I don't think a long term, intense relationship would benefit either of them. Barcia is pretty hot headed and would eventually blow up on DV. At which point DV would be like..F this. Why am I wasting my time when I could be laying next to the pool enjoying life with the kids Smile

Seriously though, DV or Barcia (I know you both are reading this) Get together at least once during a day of testing. Barcia, keep an open mind. We know you can be a title threat. Especially if the Suzuki thing is true. You guys are starting from scratch as it is.

1. The evidence of me making a rider like Barcia better is 100% sure. I would lay my own money on it. You're so sure I can't help him, show me the money. I'll give you 10K if I can't, give me 30K if I can. The "Vitards" would vote on it, we'd do a referendum. I'd give half of the money you'll give me to Road2Recovery

2. I'm not a legend at all (and I'm very aware of it), I was just able to win everywhere in every series I've raced which makes me a has been but not really a never was... I come here for fun and give my opinion on some subject I'd like to debate...

3. Most of the things I say publicly on the Pulp show or in my column is right buddy, believe it or not. Even Dungey backed the stuff I said on his riding position after I saw him ride for 10min in A1 2015... WTF are you to know who calls me or not. I could've been the Star manager but decided to ask for double the money I wanted because I didn't want to do it. Lamson got the job then. Bunch of people reached out to me for help but I turned down all of them because at that point I wanted to stay home with my kids. I felt going to soccer/basketball/volleyball games with my kids was more important than spending my weekends at a racetrack. Ask Paulin, Chisholm, Wey, Sanayei if they didn't improve with me. They all did

4. Once again, WTF are you to know if Im patient or not? Because I'm straight forward and tell people they're stupid when they say stupid stuff? Has nothing to do with patience. When you're a single dad with 2 kids that you have half of the time, you automatically have patience. Don't judge me from hearing me on the pulp show or on twitter because I obviously exaggerate my persona for the part I'm playing. How fun would it be if I was shy/reserved/compassionate? Not very...

5. You need to get out more. The "R8" sentence was a freaking joke referring to the JB/KR feud a couple weeks ago. You guys really need to understand that people sometime tweet in the second degree and you don't have to take everything you read literally...

DV,

Much respect. I hope he takes you up on the offer. If not, I bet we could get enough together here from us VITARDS to contribute to Road2Recovery if you and Barcia were to work together. Heck, lets start one of those GoFund me things with the beneficiary to be Road2Recovery. Of course, I realize that this would have you working for free. Lol. But you have to admit it would be kind of awesome, particularly if you and Barcia shared the riding tips here on the board.

No comment on the rest of your post, it speaks for itself. But, out of curiosity, how'd you automatically learn patience with two kids? Took me five to begin to learn it. I must be a slow learner. Shocked

DV was real fast until his crash where he hurt his neck/back can't remember. Matthew has talked about it before and said he was never the same after.

DV is spot-on about Barcia! If they were racing 2 stokes everyone would have his style but they're on 4 strokes, use that power to its potential and flow like Pourcel.
