Yeah and they would do it there if there was any possibility...

Trust me they don't like to do the GP on a flat field but you guys have no clue how hard it is to even have an event like this happen in Switzerland.
It almost couldn't happen at all because the community there was afraid the temporary infrastructure would hurt the bird sanctuary...

That's a joke. World's "premiere" racing series and they race in a fairgrounds? If you can't find a decent track, go somewhere else.

I remember MXA running this photo. The caption explained about Greg crashing after hitting the deer and then finished by saying "The Red Cross guy is running to help the deer first".

So whats the grand total of made for the event GP tracks this year? Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia, Mexico, Switzerland, Assen, Charlotte? Thats 7 out of 17, almost half.

I'm happy for Switzerland to get a GP again, and i know it's not been easy for them.

Hope it's a success! Keen to see how the track plays out over the weekend but definitely sad to see no elevation...

If GL had his way all GP tracks would probably look like this, this is his idea of heaven. Of all the classic tracks he would only retain Maggiora because in 1986 it hosted "The Worlds best Motocross race ever in the history of Motocross and the universe which I, Guiseppe Luongo, promoted brilliantly for your pleasures."

Look at those pictures of Roggenburg, that's a Motocross track right there. Not this sanitised manmade shite.

Spectators are being sold a pup.

It comes down to who will come up with the money that Luongo demands.

Most 'classic track'/ existing tracks are run by Clubs. Most don't have the funds to risk to pay Luongo's exorbitant fees. I think, over the years, a few have gone under / come close to going under through running GPs at a loss.

So, you get brave / foolish promoters, (or cronies of Luongo that might get 'mates rates) that take a punt, pay Luongo, build an Urban track ( one of Luongo's favored scenarios) and see how it goes.

I'm seeing Lausitzring (SP?) being mentioned again as perhaps being in the running for a GP. Now that event, a few seasons ago, looked like it had less spectators than Quatar.

Lausitzring was being mentioned because Teutschenthal was telling everyone they wouldn't hold another GP in 2017. But now it seems like Loungo gave Teutschenthal a "mate rate" and they are back on the calendar for 2017.

I am - just as a lot of other MX-fans - really disappointed about this whole man-made-track-on-flat-ground trend that is going on in the GPs. I will go to Frauenfeld this weekend, but that is just to witness in person how a race on this fairground track comes across compared to other GPs I visited in the past (Teutschenthal, Lommel, St. Jean d'Angely, Pietramurata, Gaildorf).
