I WD my chain right after I wash it. Once it dries I spray some chain wax/lube on it.

I've found that if you don't either let the chain dry naturally(starts to rust) or spray it with WD to remove the water the chain lube doesn't want to stick very well. It seems like most of it drips off with the water.

Keep it, by all means. Use WD-40 only and replace it at 30-40 hours. DON'T use regular chain lube.
You'll only have to adjust your chain 3 times during that time frame, IMO

Thanks
Use it for your street bike. You DO have a street bike??

I've seen the dyno-runs with x-ring and without. More horsepower from the x-ring once the chain gets hot.

One of the WORST parts about an o-ring chain is the press on masterlink such a pain in the ass if you didnt know they used em ..i remember when they switched to the press on links and i didnt have the tool it sucked.

I did the same as you and accidentally got one for a RMZ250. It was quite noticable in power loss. Although it did last a long time. I'm 48 and poor and slow, so it's ok.

I wouldn't use WD40 on an o-ring chain. Over time it will ruin the o-rings. I've done it.

I'm sure that I am. O-rings will swell in certain types of chemicals. It's the reason that some chain lubes say on the label, "O-ring safe".
Yeah, but what do you think about washing your air filter with gasoline? Best filter cleaner in the world.

Before you commit to it, make sure that its not too wide at the front sprocket. Idk which year model yours is but O-ring chains on some year model CRF450s will hit the case. But they make narrow O-ring/X-ring chains to solve that issue.

I pressure wash mine, i just hold the nozzle about 1 foot away from it. If you get it too close you might get some water in there.

I have a drill set that steps up in thousandths ,handy as a shirt with a pocket, and relieved the plates hole a tad so it went on like a regular masterlink..

You can use a link off a regular chain also by filing the end links raised portion that the oring rides on.

Did this to easily remove the can before washing the bike. If you dont remove it a lot use a pair of visegrips to squeeze the plate on.

Maintenance of the masterlink is important, the point where it goes when someone breaks a chain is right there.

What threefiddyone said. Depending on the year of your CRF, I wanna say 02-08, it will hit the cases. Fastway/PMB make a 1mm spacer you can put behind your c/s sprocket to avoid that. As for the chain, run it! Highly doubt you'll notice any power loss with the little extra drag the O-ring chains have.

I coat my O-Ring chain with Maxima Chain Wax as soon as I come off the track when the chain is still hot.

Best chain I've ever used. Delivers on all of it's claims. Ran it on my 03 CR with a TMR 265cc engine. It was flawless and adjustment is almost a set it and forget it deal. They really don't stretch its fucking amazing.

I would install it and then go twist the throttle and if the bike proceeds in a forward direction (I'm assuming no reverse) and you're happy with the rate at which it does so, I would then ride the piss out of it. O ring chains are awesome. .

Yep I had to run the 1mm spacer on my 2007 CRF450. Then that allows the center spacer on e sprocket to dish in more when you tighten it down and it cracks. The trick is to then replace it with the spring steel one from the CR250 2-stroke.

The real trick is to run the T-ring chain from the CRF-X which is narrow enough.

I have a 07 crf450 like fgr. I used the did vrt2 chain. It comes stock on the x models and needed no spacer to clear the case and guides with no issues. Ironman rear, Renthal front. 1.5 seasons, over 50 hours. Adjusted maybe 5 times total.

On a 450, I'll never go back to a roller.

Always ran an O Ring on my Cr500. Didn't seem to hurt it too much.

In my 1st ever attempt at qualifying for the Red Bud 500 national in1984 after making it into the 500 class a small Japineese man in a Honda shirt comes up and starts looking over my CR500 ..... In a Japineese voice he says ... You no want Oring chain you loose horsepower. My response was .... Buddy if I am loosing horsepower from that thing .... I am not missing it.

Its probably going to rub the case due to width

I'd run it as other people said if you have a 250 2t or 450. They don't stretch as much which is nice. They are noticeably wider than non sealed chains. Some bikes they will grind the cases. The rm250 I bought came with one. When I took it off couldn't believe how heavy it was. It was a pain to remove the master link.

Some chemicals swell orings, but not WD40...

Must have wrecked it some other way...

WD40 is some nasty strong chemicals in it. Standard chain yes but I would never use it on a O RING CHAIN.

By the time WD-40 does any (if any at all) damage to an O-ring chain. you're ready for a new chain.
It's the sticky/oil crap that causes shit to stick in the o-rings that destroys them...

To each his own. You can lead a horse to water......
I've been using Wd-40 for many years on my o-rings, ZERO issues and a very clean looking, long lasting chain.
My second .02...And for racing mx
