For those of you that believe marijuana should remain a "schedule 1" controlled substance (i.e. classified as a "most addictive drug" and as having "no medical benefits")....watch and learn...then tell me you'd like to take Charlotte's medicine away from her!

I was at a Milestone last Sunday. As we parked and got out of our van, I noticed that the to twenty something year old guys parked next to us (50ft) were taking part in their 420 ritual while getting dressed.

Fast forward to my son out doing a moto and quickly comes up on one of the said stoners, makes a pass and immediately the guy looks over and pins it (very common). I guess he felt like the 10 year old shouldn't go by him so easily and he starts to do everything he can to hang with or re pass my kid. Usually after a few corners they throw in the towel out of self preservation.. but this idiot instead blows off the track narrowly missing a few riders taking a break on the side of the track and wadds himself up.

Usually I hand gesture or throw things at guys being aggressive to a kid, but this time I felt like he made his own bed to lay in.
That guy sounds like a dumbass with or without a 420 break. Just sayin... Had a guy in a ford cut me off today. I made...

Had a guy in a ford cut me off today. I made no assumptions that all Ford owners are assholes.

Long time Cannabis partaker weighing in on being stoned at the MX track:

First off let me state: I have been smoking weed longer then some of you have been alive. I live in Colorado and legally smoke close to a pound a year these days. I have participated in multiple extreme sports scenes over the past few decades including skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX, dirt jumping, urban assault bicycling, MTB free riding, snowmobiling, mountaineering, on and off road motorcycling and a good many others on a whim. I recently got into MX riding. Interestingly enough MX is the only sport I don't chief up before participating in.

No joke. This topic of getting high at the MX track has been on my mind these past few weeks since I saw a gaggle of millennials at the local track getting high as F%^K while riding. Swear to god this is a true story:

Me at the local track doing my best to get around the pro track and make something of my time
Three millennials show up in two vehicles with one bike
Two millennials just start cheifing down on a bowl while one dude suits up and gets the bike ready
I am like whatever. Two stoners and their buddy who rides.
Dude takes the bike out and rips
Then he comes back in. Hands the bike to a stoner who goes out and stumbles around the track
Now the first rider starts getting high as F.
I am still like whatever.
Then a truck with a few dudes and two more bikes show up.
The bikes are decked and the dudes fronting em are obviously part of a local shop's team considering the graphics and clothing.
Suddenly there are two pipes and a vaporizer now getting passed around.
I am still like whatever. This is Colorado after all.
I just blew it all off.
Long story short these dudes, including those who are part a local shop's team straight up did not put the bikes, pipes or vaporizer down. They just kept handing them off.

Something I noticed was that on the early laps (before these dudes got stoned as F) these dudes ripped. After a few rounds of bowls and vape all the momentum was gone. They would cruise around, pull a few jumps half ass, then pull back into the pits to "re-up" so to speak. Maybe that is their thing. WTF do I care is my thought. To each there own is my literal belief.

Now as to why I am writing this post and sharing all this is that I have been wanting to run this story through the forum but didn't as I don't want to come off as old man prude. I do after all grow and burn more weed in a year then some of you all will see in your whole life. Well here is why I am sharing: Weed is fun. It can expand a person's mind. Concepts and ideas inspired out of getting high as F can and will change a person's life forever. That doesn't mean free for all is the best way to approach weed though.

Now if simply free riding is what a person is after, mistakes don't matter, getting hurt is of no concern, and the idea of doing crazy things stoned appeals to a person for one reason or another then more power to them. "Spark it up. Chief it down. Let it all go." has been a pillar of my extreme sports participation for years. I have hucked cliffs in the back country on a snowboard, been taken down in avalanches and walked away all stoned as F the whole time. I have flung a bike down gnarly sides of mountains blazed to beat the band. I have even ballz out hurtled through the mountains on big bore dual sport bikes while navigating sick as F single track in remote locations smoking mad weed and getting higher then many of you think is possible. The only difference between these situations and riding at the track is that when it comes to MX, even though I am a beginner in a new to me sport, my goal (even if far fetched) is to "WIN" when to comes to MX. I don't give two craps about the sacrifices I have to make to get into the racing scene and claw my way onto a podium. For the first time in my life riding free doesn't matter, winning does. When I am at the track analyzing terrain, calculating jumps, realizing errors and pushing harder is what I want to do. Because of this, weed not only takes a back seat at the track, it gets left at home. My time at the track is too precious to waste getting blazed.

I am not really sure what else to ad to my post. Maybe I will just summarize the following points in a wrap up.

*Weed is fun.
*Free riding is fun.
*Free riding high as F can be a blast.
*If winning is more important then being free though, put down the pipe, roost the throttle and hang on. The pipe will still be there when the ride is over. The ride on the other hand will be done. All that will remain is whether or not you gained a higher level skills. And as noted earlier the pipe will always be there.

P.S. Weed isn't that healthy. The tar from smoking weed will clog your lungs after the high goes away. The more you smoke the more clogged you lungs become. The more clogged your lungs become the less O2 your body will accumulate per breath. The less O2 your body has the less power it can exert. Can you see where this is going in relation to an MX race?

P.P.S. Vaping isn't that great. It will clog your lungs too. The difference between vaping and smoking is this: Smoke has particles of matter and oils that will clog lungs. Vaporiziers eliminate the particles of matter though will still over time clog your lungs with oils. It just takes more time to feel the effects of a daily vape compared to a daily joint.

In 01 or 02 at Atlanta I was trying to sneak into pits at 7 am or so. Had my box and was ready to walk in when a buddy that was racing came driving down the ramp. I hopped in and he tossed me a bag and some papers and said to twist one.

I said" before you ride? Here?" He said " hell ya,do it all the time" That's when I told him I'd brought some that I'd grown and it was crippling ,spool you up into a corner bud.

We unloaded then parked across the road and chonged it up. He made the night show in both classes on 2 of the clapped outtest bikes, the 125 I wouldn't rode to the gate on.

I love the "logic" some of you use to convince yourselves.

"Well, it ain't as bad as alcohol or heroin so therefore it's OK". Well, a knife isn't as bad as a gun but I doubt you want me riding around the track chopping people up with a machete. Even if it does help me "focus".

Then again, we are talking about potheads here.

Thankfully, I don't need to be high to enjoy MX.

Great post. I've never partaken at the track but I have while trail riding up north and it slows my ass way down...lol. Now give me a beer or two (again out trail riding in the woods and only one or two) and I rip!

Heh smoking weed to a seasoned stoner just makes them function normal.

Just because it makes you go all crazy old man, doesn't mean the seasoned regulars are unable to control them selves.

Humans are born with cannabis receptors. Its a plant that grows naturally in the ground. Its not like they are injecting H. Humans have been doing it for thousands of years.

Let me understand this: Did you just state that you ride a motorcycle with an object in your mouth?

If this is the case I just need to ask: Have you considered the choking hazard that occurs should your mouth loose control of said object in a moment of concern like for instance a crash situation?

I been there done that. Dumb ass me in my youth, riding my bike, lozenge in my mouth, whoops, oh shit, on the ground, cough cough, can't breathe, cough, lozenge spits forth, life continues. I was lucky.

Will you be?

Also eating weed makes persons stupid due to the method of intake to the brain. Better to loose lung capacity and go with an edge on the track then eat it and be lazy retarded.

Eating weed. LoL. How degenerate can a person get?

another scenario would be if a guy stoned causes a crash or hurt someone can they be in trouble? Just like if a sober person driving a car runs into a drunk guy driving a car it becomes the drunk guy at fault even though the sober driver caused the wreck...

There are 2 topics here. 1 - illegal narcotics have no business at a motocross track and I would tell that to anyones face since there are always kids present. 2- if you want to smoke/eat/drink/snort illegal narcotics go ahead its your life just don't do it at a motocross track.

Quite simple actually. We're not addicts. Takes 1-2 months to get clean for a regular smoker. Maybe a few more months when you start just to feel things out. My employer didn't even drug test me but I still went another 3 months after being hired before I smoked again. It's not a priority that I smoke. It's not like I show up at work with blood shot eyes after hot boxing my car at lunch. It's a fucking job in the business world. Treat it with respect and the people you work with will be none the wiser. I just prefer a bowl every now and then instead of a beer or a cigarette. To each their own.

Do you need a ladder to get down from your high horse now?

High horse? He's not bragging. He's got a normal way of thinking. I hope you don't have children, or have decided not to reproduce. They'd be in some serious trouble if you condone them getting high and going out onto a track, or allow them to go out on a track with people who are under the influence. That's got nothing to do with being high and mighty and everything to do with you being an irresponsible person. Take a poll and you'll see that the majority of citizens would NEVER legalize operating any motor vehicle while under the influence of any controlled substance. How does it feel to have lower intelligence than most citizens?

I have friends who smoke all the time. But my god, I hate legitimate stoners. Whine and bitch about everything. Legalizing it just isn't enough. Gotta take it one step forward, let's go drive shit while under the influence! Yeah sounds fuckin' fantastic!
