I do not know how it will turn but so far I absolutely love the track.
Obviously Webb will be super fast but I also except to see Paulin and Febvre upfront, and I hope it is the kind of track where Ferrandis can give a good run to Herlings.
I do not know if the KTM / Husky US teams will come, but that would be cool, for exemple Osborne should be able to get a podium there !

But the American riders of the 70's and 80's who rode such events are now American riders of the 2000's and they don't want to race the event if they don't have to (because there is not enough financial motivation)
So, what to do?
step 1: the promotor must build the event into a commercial success
step 2: the sponsors of the US riders wake up and see the advertising potential in such an event
then
step 3: the sponsors of the US riders will "pay" the US riders to race the event by including such events into their contracts
Still, it could be a travesty of World Motocross Championship venues, well up there with Qatar and the last Thailand.
Whether or not US spectators go - well, there may well be more people interested in racing there than there actually is in the "Californian Hotbed of MX"?
I also believe that the MXGP organizers may want to branch out and offer different types of racing, which this will definitely do. They probably want some American dollars. It is probably difficult to design a true outdoor style track on a dead flat piece of land too. Also think about why Supercross is so popular in America. You can go to an event and see the entire track from most any seat in the house.
True MX fans are the minority unfortunately. I'd rather the event be held at Budd's Creek, but because of everything I mentioned, I understand the reasoning.
It might not work but it is a good way of bringing the sport to the people. History shows US MX fans aren't known for travelling to regular MX tracks to watch a USGP, so why not try this?
It's the complete championship and you need to be an extremely versatile rider to win it and be the best in the world.
They go to Glen Helen straight after too which is cool in that it's a total contrast to Charlotte.
The Charlotte race could be a new Qatar or a new Assen, let's hope that it turns out great.
My only worry is college football starts that day and I wonder if that will hurt the crowd a little.
Rock on but that ain't motocross IMO.
Pit Row
It's cheaper to build a track just ask sx
Some sections just seem like single track.. Not to mention the arrow makes half the obstacles seem like a pump track
But make no mistake... I'll be there!!
Don't quote me on any of these figures. This is a rough calculation.
There is a landfill that is next to the speedway and they have mountains of dark loamy dirt stockpiled for future reclamation.
I think people will be surprised by the amount and quality of it.
They don't even have to cross a road to bring it in and have seen them use the huge off road dumps to move it in the past.
