If you could move anywhere in the county where would you go and why? I know this doesn't sound very moto but bear with me. I raced for many years but now I'm just a guy that really loves to ride my bike. I will be finishing paramedic school and with a current national registry I can get a job just about anywhere. On top of that I work for a sister company to AMR (largest ambulance provider in the country) and have already talked to the lady in staffing about a transfer and that option is open also. Anyways back on topic, I just enjoy riding my bike, mx, single track, free ride type stuff, but also like mountain biking and would like to try down hill mountain biking and things like that. I know California is the obvious answer but I'm looking to see what other ideas people have. So where would you go?

Update: I have accepted a job just outside denver Colorado. Moving March 9th. Anybody local to that area?

Emt has its pros and cons for sure. It takes a different kind of person that's for sure. I've been in it a couple years and seen more than a few gruesome injuries and untimely deaths in front of me. But that's a sorry for another day. Back on topic, I guess I'm more looking for a place with tons of different riding opportunities along with other attractions. Like snowboarding or anything really. Like I said California outside of California lol

Bro... In English.

In regards to the original question, there's tons of places all over the western US that could satisfy your requirements. Certainly any of the Mountain West states (Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Eastern California) have all of that terrain and more. Throw Washington and Oregon in the mix, along with Idaho and Wyoming, and you have quite a wide variety of options available to you. Then there's the Northeast with its incredible loam, Southeast with its sand/clay, and even some Midwestern states... You get the picture. I realize this isn't helping.

Personally, I'm a western US/west coast guy. If I were you I'd likely choose Colorado, Washington, or Oregon.

To each his own.

I was in a similar situation 3 years ago and chose Colorado because I love the mountains - and there is no way I am ever leaving!!!

My quality of life skyrocketed since moving here. Honestly, there's too much to do...

Pennsylvania actually has a ton of great trails and places to ride. ECEA and AMA D6 put on some good events. WNYOA also has crazy events. We have a bunch of nationals within a few hours drive as well but our winter literally sucks the life out of me.

If I had to pick a new home... NC SC TX.

Where at in Colorado? Colorado and Oregon were on my short list. My best friend moved to the Seattle area and he loves it. But he only moved there because his wife is stationed there and she may be getting moved to Baltimore area I think.

I live in Kansas and the winters here suck. I would choose Colorado. I rode at Lakewood this summer. Tons of fun. Like somebody mentioned earlier. Tons of stuff to do no matter the season.

I'm in Denver, but the traffic and people are starting to drive me crazy - just like any other big city.

i went through this same thing when i was getting ready to graduate college, and ended up settling for the northwest. and do not regret it.

oregon or washington hands down.
i live in bremerton washington and its pretty amazing for moto, mtb, and skiing.

many practice tracks within 2 hours, and good local race series.
tons of enduro and shuttlable dh mtb.
skiing year round if youre dedicated and willing to hike.

Plus there is topless coffee stands and good local beer.

I second this. Bend, or Sisters, OR. One of the greatest areas of the country, and very underrated.

I was a LT Firemedic /SPEC OPs and FEMA FIT team leader for 17 years and lived in FL lots of great riding but I hated FL I came to visit Oregon and 2 weeks later Moved . I know AMR runs out of Grants pass because I work with them sometimes But you have Mercy Flites and Fire Med in Oregon and some others . so you would have to see were AMR is . You should get you Fire Cert its SO much better of a Career than just being a single cert . CO. is really nice but its expensive there . I lived there for a short time in Breckenridge . being in Oregon I ride at Washougal , Albany, Mt view , Eugene , I have a privet track and we are building another one . I go to Hangtown about every other month and ride at Marysville one day and hangtown the next . Mammoth is not that far and 12 hours to Glen Helen . best of all is you don't pay tax in OR and you don't pump your own gas lol

Yeah I guess its natural to think about moving after you finish college and you aren't tied down. So far the pacific northwest sounds the most interesting to me. I'm going to check into the Bend area and see whats in Colorado. Whats the best area in the Carolinas'? My aunt lives in the Lancaster PA area. I think that is the D6 area.

Would it have killed you to put If you could move anywhere in the country in the subject line? Not a big deal by any stretch but the cryptic thread titles do blow me away.

Answer to your question:

1) Anywhere in Colorado
2) Anywhere in Utah
3) Just about anywhere in the Pacific NW

Unless you want to live amongst 16 million people I would avoid SoCal but you're a young man so could handle that just fine if that is where life takes you. Best of luck.

Southern Oregon is where I hope to end up someday! I rode the roseburg area at a WORCS race when I was younger and loved it. Want to get up there sometime next summer to do a little riding.

I'm in NW Oregon , and I really wouldn't want to move any where else. Maybe Mexico so I could learn the cartel way of life , but that's just a pipe dream.

The title was by intent. As I said in the op it isn't very moto related and I didn't want it to get clicked immediately for being in the wrong section. But I too generally dislike cryptic titles. Anyways, the Pacific northwest use looking better and better. Is there any local Web site I can check out to get a feel for the local moto scene in that area? Like we have www.midsouthmx.com for the west Tennessee, northern mississippi, Arkansas, alabama area.

Bumping this old thread. It's finally happening. I've interviewed and been unofficially offered a job in Arvada CO. We have already discussed the terms and my start date is march 13. The only thing I'm waiting on its the official offer to accept. That being said when I get up there I'll be looking to meet up with some locals. I'll be living in denver so who lives in that area?
