Woohoo I'm on my way to 21! I have 7 and a garage of parts. The key is to strip them down before she gets home. Then tell her your buying parts to build a bike...

New ones to to the back. Slowly rotate them to the front. When the wife finally sees it you can honestly tell her it has been there for a really long time.

I sneak in parts, but never whole bikes.
You guys are pro's.

What I tend to do is let her agree to me buying on the 'one in, one out' rule, but have all these bikes that don't sell.

Yep, get it home, tear it apart, then assemble the bike telling the wife it was one I had laying around in pieces, she doesn't even look at me when in my garage she is constantly scanning for what's going on now.

Then the counting starts, usually ends with me telling her I work for my money and don't hang out in bars

Glad to see I'm not alone at this

I'm probably too much of a pack rat to ever have a shop that looks that nice... on the other hand, I'm well above 21 and my wife still likes me. That's a very nice lineup Sandman768 and Crabman - just wow.

Laughing Blink This thread is very funny, really amused me.

Now some questions I just cannot work out:-

Where and how the hell do you guys keep all these bikes?! You must have garages the sizes of houses, or more distubingly maybe not! I am trying to get my head around it but cannot! I got about 4 bikes I think, mostly in pieces and will probably stay in pieces as they have done for about 20 years! 4 is seems pretty bad but guess it all depends what space and conditions you got to store them in/ work on them?

Its odd, should be a 'pleasure' but sort of becomes a 'curse' !! Its the mess/ chaos of storing it in amongst tools and spanners which also seem to be everywhere that gets me.

Its scary the things my wife notices. She almost physic. She innocently asks me about new things on my bike or something in the garage that she doesnt even know what the parts are . She can walk past my bike with her hands full of groceries and and later ask why the part on my bike is silver now. (I installed an aluminum kicker) , Me on the other hand can ask about a new picture thats hung in the living room thats been there for 3 years

- "came in the crate with the bike, only just fitted it"
"Yeaaaaah, why's Alex not gone one on his bike"
- " because Alex rides a four stroke and they're sh*t"
Rolls her eyes at me and goes indoors.

She knows I lie about the price of parts, and she thinks she knows what they really cost.
Thankfully she never asks - probably because she doesn't want to know the true cost, and as they say, ignorance is bliss.

Man, if I was told we will give you a million dollars if you can tell us the picture your wife hung on the dinning room wall. I would have to just walk away pissed because I would not be able answer it and it been hanging there for 20years.

Now my shop, no problem, I could tell you near crashes form the 80's

Big closet? No. Several closets? Yes...Smile

She does have a bit of a shoe fetish. Not expensive shoes, just lots of shoes. As far as purses, she did get one mid life crisis purse, a Louis Vuitton. The leather on that thing feels amazing and smells better than a shipping container full of brand new SG12 Gaernes.
