Gnarliest Downhill

I'm re watching the glen Helen national and jason weighant (sp?) said that glen Helen has the gnarliest downhill in all of motocross. So that being said do you guys agree? What are some of the scariest downhills included in some tracks or even in GNCC/any other off road.

GNCC, for me easily snowshoe. Was a couple years back and I fell at least twice in one trip down it. It was real narrow, steep, and soft. Only downhill I have dreaded every lap.

OMC in Boise has a very very steep and sandy downhill on its summer track, but is only open for pros, if I remember correctly. It's not very long but it gets nasty and most average riders wouldn't even be able to make it down without crashing. I wish I could find a picture.

Omc is pretty wild. I went down it on an open practice one day. Didn't really care to do it again hahaha

Hill track back in the day that came down from the water tank. The downhill was so steep you'd be doing nose wheelies down it hanging off the back fender..

Going up, you hit the base 4th tapped, by the top, 1st gear.

Millville has a pretty badass downhill now that they've lengthened it.

EDIT: Can't forget the granddaddy of them all, Carlsbad. Just watching races from the 70s and 80s gives me goosebumps when those guys go flying down that hill.

Had a chance to race Glen Helen a couple months ago on a brand new 450 after not being on a bike for 5 or so years, can honestly say at the end of day 2 those hills were gnarlier than anything I'd ever ridden.

Kenny zarts in Ventura was the gnarliest I've ever been down. I went down it one time when I was on 85s. Somehow my brother got up n down it on 65s with no problem. Glen Helen hills are fast but not really over kill technically. The down hill coming from the rem track back in like 09 was pretty intense. Hawkstone sand downhill is pretty gnarl tho. Some of the most intense hills have always been the tracks the general public doesn't know about, bean canyon where Hannah road, honda valley unadilla 2 track iv Victorville, smith road works track in the hills I broke my foot coming down. And my personal favorite cleghorn mountain that passes through pacific crest trail at the bottom. You literally ride on the side of cliffs, but that's just for bicycles and rebels.

The kids around here don't know BANAZI or SUICIDE downs hills from SADDLEBACK or the downhill at CARLSBAD.

agreed... Bonzai when they were running it on practice days... Be fun to try on a modern bike like a new Yamaha 450F...

Berzerko Part MX in Castle Rock Colorado back in the day. Came out of the sand whoops and dropped down 500 feet! Just saying, Gary Duncan (who I don't know) in 1976 #7 would drop sideways to the bottom on his CR125 every lap!...YES

While I’ve never been to Glen Helen or Carlsbad I don’t see how those hills could be any worse than Unadilla’s "Elevator Shaft" or "The Wall". I moved away so I don’t know if they still use it, but in the 80’s Trans-USA, National, and GP races it was incredibly intimidating.

It was damn near a vertical drop, tight left turn at the bottom, and then right back up it with almost zero run up. Both the down and up side were so steep you could not even think about walking down it.

I raced two 4 stroke nationals at OMC back in the day, and going down those things for 30 minutes was gnarly.

Namur had some awesome down hills, it was only ever used for GP and MXDN so mere mortals never got to ride them.
As already mentioned a couple of times Hawkstone has a savage down hill that makes you worry all lap!!!!

Hawkstone park. This is the drop off into a long bumpy downhill that sweeps round a left hand bend before it levels out.
You can not roll off this and no matter what happens you are gonna end up right at the bottom on the bike or not.

1976 TRANS-AMA SADDLEBACK PARK... nice footage of the start & straight down Bonzai, not saying that it's the
toughest...
But if you Crashed near or on the lead on that trip down Bonzai Hill after the start, you could get yourself killed
with that dust...

Ha yes I'm with you on hawkstone. I remember my first time there, around 2005, every time I got to the bottom all I could think of was 'oh shit I've got to go round and do that again'.
That first pic I believe is David guaneri (maybe wrong) I remember watching that in complete awe how on earth anyone could ( or even want to) double down that hill.
Edit. Just enlarged the pic and now see it's actually Everts. My bad
