The bike third one down (80' blue-yellow look) is a 2007 m.y.
We have 2 RM300; one have progressive and smooth engine output (suggest for vet and amateur rider) the second is more aggressive with more mid to top power (for expert rider )

i really like it...this RM144 is borderline over ported, ive tried 38 and 36mm mikuni carbs, it it just never ran as good as i thought it could.

at first, i bought the 38mm cast smart carb. When it finally arrived, i couldnt get it to fit since the rad valve i was running was longer than the OEM carb manifold.

I went back to the OEM manifold, and with the 38mm cast it would bog and not run well. They sent me the richest metering rod, but it was still no better.

i asked for my cash back, and they offered me a used 36mm billet- it had been used once on a briggs and stratton lawn mover engine for trade conference, so it was essentially new.

It came, and it was still too lean and would bog.

Then i put the richest metering rod in and hey presto!!

It runs sensationally good, comes on the pipe nicely off the bottom and then crisply runs through the midrange into a sweet top end and over rev.

First year of the last Gen
Great bike
Put a Flywheel weight on it and geared it up to make the pull longer thru each gear
Rode it 2 seasons and Have not used it in 2 years as I got addicted to a YZ250F
Would like to get on it again this spring

My questions:
A good friend has an 03
He had an 01 that he had replaced the rear link with i think a Devol
has anyone here done this or replace the rear link with a link from a newer RM250 ?

I almost bought a cherry 06 from a buddy a few years back. he even let me test ride it for an entire day! Ended up buying a 450 instead, big mistake.

It is a 2015 RM-Z450 subframe, fender, number plates, and airbox that I bored out and used the 2002 RM250 air boot. If you look where the subframe mounts to the main frame I made brackets that raised the subframe up to the correct height. no mods were made to the subframe.

Digging up an old post, but I was inspired so I decided to spend a bit of £££ & ⏰ on my RM250 K8. By no means finished yet, but it's getting there. I will post up details and better pictures when I'm happy with it.

There was a clean looking '06 RM250 on Clist last week for $1800. I was busy and couldn't get to it for a couple days, was gone when I called about it. Even with a '14 250SX sitting in the garage I'm kicking my own ass for not making time to look at it.

I have an 03 and I went to the 04 carb slide to clean it up. I also run 50:1 synthetic mix and no sponge on the silencer. The KYB fork is not that good. The vital guys are telling me shop for a Showa, period. the engine hits hard, so I put on an 8 oz. flywheel.

My rm 250 -08. Haven't been on it for about 2 months, i ride my Sxf 450 -14 now. But the fact is that the rm is one of the better looking bikes i'v ever had.

I've come a ways with it....It has a #7 slide in it and plugged the power jet passage, but I try to stay around 32:1. Got the spooge to near zero. I've installed a big rotor on the front and have tweaked the suspenders a bit, some stiffer springs will help more. Still needs a FWW and a new clutch basket. Getting better....getting faster!

Well I think this Friday my suspension is going in to get some major work done. Have my graphics all designed. New front / rear tires , new Renthal 922's , new grips , all new plastic set , 4 new air filters and some other cool shit.....lets get this party started. Smile

Hopefully in about 2 weeks time I'll have mine all done up and ready for action. Next thing on the list is a set of kickass wheels for this thing. Love the gold RC rims , just wanted a spare set that looks a little more wild. Already got them picked out.

Is there a particular reason you went with the 15 subframe, or was that just what was available to you? I'd really like to do something similar and I'm wondering if other years will work as well.
