I run a little Remodel / Drywall business here in the NW. And like any small business it can fluctuate up and down a lot. Even though I go through some rough times when the economy slows down.....it's nice not having to punch someone else's time clock.

I had a choice when I got out of high school........Remodeler or brain surgeon.......I thought " Pfft!.....I'm definitely going into the more lucrative , high paying remodel work....I think it will pay more ". I may of made the wrong choice. Smile

I'm a manufacturing engineer for Pratt & Whitney aircraft for the past 25 years. Been a great career, we repair all the engine parts for service re-use. Get involved in with work instructions, repair part design, metallurgy, high end welding processes, machining, plasma coating for dimensional restoration, inspection processes/not, relations with union laborers, airline customers, various salary support groups...all started getting interested in mx, taking bikes apart & maintaining and hop-ups.

Contracts manager for a defense contractor. Got my bachelors in business/accounting. Never used the accounting aspect through. It's a good job but can be boring. It's strictly office work and it find myself wishing I did something out of the office, in the field.

I Own a private motocross club. I also grow medical marijuana but since the new legal recreational laws it's really a shitty business. Trying to find something new to do with my time. The track business sucks to.

Trucking business. One truck, one contracted customer (big courier company), one part-time employee. I do a scheduled overnight run, I'm home every day but it's a 13-14 hour a day job. After the truck maintenance and minimal office work it's a 70+ hr per week gig. I have a big shop so I try to do as much of my own wrenching as I can, but that can get overwhelming too. I do like my free time.

My part timer relieves me of two shifts every 2nd week otherwise I'd have no life at all. It's not glamorous but I can't make this kind of money doing anything else. I'm ready to look for a 2nd relief driver to shorten my other weeks though. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Nursing grad student (MSN/RN).

Worked in finance for a big investment firm shortly after getting my undergrad degree...chained to a desk 55 hrs a week, absolutely miserable. Dunno how people do it, but the money's great if you're willing to deal with the BS.

Emergency Manager for a state emergency management agency. I love my job, but I work three stories underground so that messes with my head sometimes.

I started as a motorcycle mechanic, became service manager, then owned my own Husky shop for a while. I went back to school and started teaching which evolved into becoming a principal which I have been for the last 7 years.

Fluid Relocation Technician, specializing in the Movement of Bitumen and Hydrogen Oygen materials. A fancy way of saying I haul oil and water, but I had to dress it up some. In some pretty heavy company here. Wink

Cool professions by many.
I have a useless BS from UT in Biology, that was 7 years down the drain!
I sell Kenworth trucks and I enjoy the business and the customers greatly.

Manufacturing Engineer for a Powersports OEM in MN. Leaving that in a couple weeks to be in Product Engineering at 3M. Working on toys all day was fun, but honestly the sense of normality around having toys whenever I wanted kinda took the fun out of them.

Mech Eng by degree.

Business degree, now run the family business 3 generations later. Construction, primarily water and wastewater plant as well as utilities installation. I'm small now and it's a 7 day a week job, but I love building things. Also have several trucks, crane certification, sandblasting and painting, metal fabrication, any and all concrete work, excavation. You name it, I'll do it. Starting another business this month for mining and equipment sales.

Edit: Oh, and my sisters came up with our company moto years ago, "Your shit's our bread and butter"

The nickname doesn't sound familiar.
