I am no Poto fanboy but if he does go over he will dominate. Perhaps not go undefeated because there is talent over there and it is a different world but it comes down to the fact he is one in shape mofo that can ride the wheels off a bike he loves.

Stamp it. If he goes he is world champ.

If he does it I just want him to go 100% with the training and preparations. I hope it's not just for money and a chance to travel.

I wont believe anything until they start the series
Whitey speak with wise tongue.

If he does and then goes all world champion on us, I will be gratefully impressed and downright a fan. Bottom line no matter what anybody says.... There is only ONE WORLD CHAMPION. who wouldn't want to say that?? I'M WORLD FUCKING CHAMPION!

4.5 million.

He'd win some races for sure, probably Qatar right away (if it's still on the schedule) and of course other tracks. Overall though my money would be on AC. But either way it would just be so outrageously cool if he did decide to race the GPs. More than any other rumour past or present I'm desperately hoping this one is true.

Wee shock? AC is the only guy who will even get close to him. He will decimate the rest of the field

If this actually happens it would be so cool. Don't know what to say more. This is the closest to a dreamscenario I can think of.

My dream is of course that they combine FIMWC and AMA Nationals into one serie with the 40 best riders on the starting line. Just like MotoGP. This should be in the interest of fans, manufacturers and companys in the industry.

We would then have a good product to get on TV or other media solutions. But hey, like I said I'm really happy as it is if we get to see RV2 compete against Cairoli

Right, but the main flaw I see in comparing the two is that you're using a sport that has a salary cap. What would those players pull in if they were in a truly "open market?" Plus, we are talking about a guy who has been placed in the same company as the greatest of the greats in this sport. That's like talking about lebron, Michael, Peyton, messi, Ronaldo, Crosby, kershaw, Rory, tiger, Phil. Those numbers are very different, on the court/field and off of it.

Edit: for the record, I do think it's effing awesome if he gets $12 million. I don't want anyone to think otherwise. I'm just saying I still don't think that's quite up to par with the top tier of major sports, that's all.

RV would be facing a lot of changes. It would be interesting to see how he'd cope with them.

Haha I hope you're not banking on this happening . RV has yet to ever be "shocked" in a championship. If he stays healthy then the 2015 series is already over. Although one plus for the GP fans is they will finally be able to say they have the best rider in the world racing their series if RV does in fact go.

Forget the salary - the real money is in endorsements.

I saw a report a few months ago that said Clowney has signed endorsement agreements in excess of $200 mil and hasn't even played a down in the NFL yet.

That is "set for life" money.

This!!! Two weeks from tomorrow. Roll Tide!!!! The week that racing is over we roll right into college football season. I guess there is a good side to these broken ribs, broken wrist (surgery scheduled for Tuesday), and lacerated spleen, plenty of time to sit around and watch tv. lol

You got Sims or Coker for the qb job?

what makes you so sure that RV would wax everyone in gps? did you not watch the last 2 motocross des nations?

really hope this rumour is true- would love to see villipoto (or any top american rider) come over and race a season of gps. I think rv will win races if he comes over but all the above mentioned riders and maybe a few more will beat him on some weekends- and the title will still go to cairoli at the end of the season

I sure as shit hope it isn't Sims. If it is we are in trouble. I think most polls have us ranked too high, Sims has never impressed me at all. It's sad that he's even the one that's competing for the starting job. That means that a couple of our QB recruits were busts i.e. Morris and Bateman. Sorry for hijacking this tread. lol

Yeah we have watched them. I didn't see him there. You know something we don't? I'm with on the rest of your post except for the very end. I think Poto wins it. He is like R C was, they refuse to lose. I will awesome either way. I hope we get to see it.

I don't know man, it is pretty easy to say he will go there and dominate, but I have to think it won't be very easy. First he has to make sure he is as fit as he has been since he started with Baker. Second he has to be as committed to winning as he always been. I don't think 80% is close to enough to win in Europe. Third he had to appreciate the level of motivation he will create by going there. It will become very personal for the paddock to ensure he doesn't dominate. Fourth, the racecraft and knowledge of the top guys cannot be underestimated. Fifth he has to adjust to different travel and different food, culture...whole new ball game.

He left at the end of the sx series as the baddest dude on the planet no doubt, and I also don't doubt that he can win. All I'm saying he better have all of his ducks in a row otherwise he could be in for a bit of a surprise. I'm hoping he goes as I think it would be an amazing challenge and an amazing feat if he were to win. It will be interesting to see what happens in the end.

Sixth: He will have nearly a year of rust to clear off.

I'd like to see him go and win for sure.

BUT...

My biggest fear is he'll be in an environment where the only people that want to see him win are Americans thousands of miles away that can't help him and MAYBE the people on his team. I feel the whole thing would be an ambush.

I wouldn't trust it. And if I were in his shoes, for that reason I wouldn't risk trying it. Its tough when everyone you come in contact with wants to burry a knife in your back to prove their lifestyle is superior. I think that's how it will be.

We don't dislike american athletes in Europe. We love that they show up for mxon each year, and if Villopoto wins then it's perfectly fine with me. It will create a huge interest if he races here, but he won't be hated or booed. I'm sure he will say pretty polite things in interviews and make a lot of fans and friends in the paddock.

I do however feel he is up for a big challenge. European tracks and American tracks are quite different, and he has to setup his bike differently and maybe ride some of the track more carefully than in the US. I'm sure he can adapt though, but it will be a big challenge. I also think it will get Cairoli more motivated which will rise the bar even further.

I would guess that his salary from Kawasaki not including bonuses would be more like $1.2 Million. Plus Gear and personal sponsors of course. You just forgot the decimal...

The setup I'm speaking of is more the euro industry, not the regular fans. I feel it won't be in the interest of the euro industry for RV to walk in, F shit up, and walk out. I may be wrong. But its how I see it. I speculate there will be attempts at sabotage for the reputation of the all mighty GP series.

I just hope those crafty pickpocketing euros give him a fair go of it and don't try to sabotage his efforts if there is even a hint he will go close to 12-0.

And I hope after every race he gives an honest interview to any media types that want a good interview. Full on Toyota sucks, Raptors rule type of stuff. Blunt, arrogant honesty.

And does anybody else besides JT$ and me think this clears the way for Chad to easily win the sx championship next year?

i have no doubt that Monster (the main sponsor of the series), Thor (a massive presence in the GP paddock), and his team at Factory Kawasaki which has support from Japan (and hasn't won an MXGP/MX1 championship since.... EVER) will happily sabotage his bike so that an AXO wearing, KTM riding, Red Bull supported rider from Italy can win the series (again)

seriously..... Woohoo
