Saw both of those as I was standing right there. Also Sewell crashed there pretty hard right in the practice but wasn't so lucky as I saw him limping off the track badly. That sucks since he's a local guy and likley would have done well. At least he had a go pro on.

Way cool he didn't get hurt and waved to the crowd. But, I'm kinda curious why they made that landing so dangerous. I think the crowd would've rather seen it safe enough that pretty much any pro could pull it off.

look at supercross. far cry from the late 90's and early 00's regarding technicality

I hear that, but it only benefitted one 250 rider (and not that much, as he was killing it even without that jump), and when only some can jump an obstacle, it can create a hazard, especially with a jump like the Leap, where it's a blind jump when you're committed. I think the rest of that track is technical enough without adding the danger. Enough guys are getting hurt. Make the jumps safe and let the rest of the track separate the riders. It isn't like if that jump was made so everyone could clear it that the results would change substantially.
That being said, I can't recall anyone ever getting hurt on Larocco's Leap. Seems harder on bikes than riders.

Why does it seem so small in the helmet cam vid?? I know it's not, the thing just cannot be done proper justice.
The videos don't do the track justice. The bowl turn looks pretty flat, and both the faces of the tabletop into the parking lot area/sand rollers and the leap don't look bad at all, but in person they are incredibly steep and long. It feels like you're jumping a dune on both of them.

All 450's casing the Leap in this thread. Just goes to show you how much freaking power Mitch gets out of those Pro Circuit KX250f's. Baggett was killing the leap.

Awesome reaction and the fact that he didn't get hurt. Takes some balls of steal to do that on a 250f
Isn't Sipes on a 450?

Helluva save! Did he case it and bounce off the landing? I'm thinking no way he could've over-jumped it that far.....right???

Great videos! Sipes' and Mikhaylov's reactions are awesome and show exactly what their mindsets were when hitting the leap - "Balls out!"

Who hasn't wanted to take a bow after wadding or almost wadding up in front of a crowd of people? Assuming I didn't get hurt, my first reaction is usually "I wonder if anyone got a shot of that?"

Scottie's video was cool, too. I really enjoyed the bird's eye view of Dungey jumping the leap from the inside.

mitch's bikes certainly have some power but the fact that bagget's about 135 lbs soaking wet sure doesn't hurt either Laughing
