I keep seeing Jeremy McGrath in 250 mains in 1992 on YouTube. what was the story here? I didn’t recall riders moving up after they clenched the 125 championship back then but I guess that’s what happened. would be cool to hear him talk about this experience. I mean how do you go from 6th place finishes to all out dominance in one year? I thought 1993 was his first year in the premier class but he did get some premier class indoor racing experience before that.

It was common practice for 125SX riders to race 250s on the opposite coast.

And then there were some privateers who rode both classes in the same night.

Basically 125 riders who had the opportunity could get the experience and get their feet wet in the 250 class.  MC was legit without pushing it too hard and was easy top 10 I recall.  Maybe even a 5th?

Looks like 6 main events in 250 supercross in 1992.

The wildest thing I see here is the fact LA sx was in July after 5 rounds of outdoors that are just mixed into the schedule 😂😂 also round 1 was an east/west showdown

you imagine if this was the 2024 schedule that would be sick! I know, I know, the teams will cry & it’s all about keeping the teams happy

A certain series of events (that had nothing to do with moto) happened in LA that year that delayed the original date for the LA SX…

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe K-Dub is the only active 125 rider who won a race in the 250 class, right?

Never knew he'd raced that many 250 mains in '92. I don't recall seeing any photos of him on a #17 Peak Pro Circuit CR250.

Anyone have some shots?

A good friend bought that Peak PC CR250 MC raced back east. He was friends with MCs parents so it got set up. He said it was the best bike he owned for a long time. It was the motor and suspension and Peak/PC graphics He screwed it up by doing a top end and hooking a ring and wrecking the cylinder. He bought a new cylinder, took it to PC and asked for the same porting but I guess it was top secret and he got standard 92 porting. He sold it shortly after that. I wish I knew he was selling it. Would have been cool to have even with the different cylinder.

Dowd won 98 Charlotte SX in 250 class while moonlighting east rounds on his way to winning 125 west title. To be fair he had raced several 250 and 125 SX races in the previous 1/2 dozen years.
