The rumor mill has blown my mind today when I ran across a very respectably-crafted webcast called The Moto Aftermath Show.
We've been talking about Triumph for two years now... but Ducati? This is huge news, at least to me. And to hear Webb might be in discussions with them for 2024 Supercross is one of the wildest rumors I've ever heard in this sport. If any of this is true, can we assume Ducati has a bona fide 450 MX bike close to being announced?

Ducati is one of the most successful street bike brands in the world. Winning at the highest level in MotoGP. They are basically the Ferrari of motorcycles.

I hadn't heard of the show before but I think these guys' approach makes for a pretty compelling webcast. I'm impressed.
The who of motorcycles?
Whoever Ducati gets they should be motivated to test and develop a new motorcycle and be a part of Ducatis global racing presence across all forms of motorcycle racing. I don't know if Webb fits that description but he is fast and smart.

What little credibility he had as it relates to "insider knowledge" just disappeared.
Who of you had heard of this? I mean, if this has been common knowledge, I would have expected Ducati to have been discussed as much if not MORE than Triumph. If the rumors for 2024 Supercross are true, then you have to believe the bike is on the same schedule as Triumph's. Come 2024, we may have more brands on the track then even going back to the 70's.
There have been rumblings for a bit now that Ducati was entering motocross, Lewis and Adam Wheeler talked about it a bit on the last Vital MXGP podcast. That being said I HIGHLY doubt there is any truth to the rumour that they are talking with Webb. From the sounds of it they are still a couple years away from having a team at all let alone signing a guy like Webb.
Is it really outrageous to think that Ducati is going to bust out the checkbook? I would think the only current riders who would be a hard no is Jett and Chase. They feel they are the absolute favorites and I think anyone else can be swayed by enough money.
In a post about the Triump, Ducati was recently mentioned but I think it was going to be a year behind in 2025.
I recall hearing something about Ducati entering MXGP next year, not sure about a US based team

I agree and I’ll take it a step further and say I would think you damn near need to expect Ducati to bust out the checkbook.

I understand what you are saying but "Desmosedici" means 16 valves. The generic "Desmo" term is just a fully mechanical valve actuation without springs. Who knows how many valves they will use, it could be 3 or 4. Most likely this engine will be referred to as a "Desmoquattro."

They already put a Desmo in an mx bike, but it was bevel drive.
The market is limited, but an enduro version of a nice mx platform can make it worthwhile. It can be considered as advertising if that just make it break even. They may have some demand for some adventure bikes from their network too, or they want to expand their showroom floor. I think the branding helps to sell, and I guess they would come up with something nice. I hope they can go live, just because the more bikes the better, the more rides too. A good question is will they manage to get to this 500 units rule (should be 200?) to be homologated unlike TM, Beta, or Sherco ? Will the "new" 4 or 5 make a little lobby too ? (maybe based on rmz numbers too?)

Along with the original rumor was a TM/Ducati alliance of some sort.
Oh really? Now that would be cool....use some of Ducati's clout to help bring TM more manufacturing, R&D etc.
TMs have always been freaking sweet.
the production rule would be the biggest hurdle for Ducati to be in for next year, needing to import 400 450's has always been an issue for TM I believe, which is why they have never had a bike in USA SX,
Ducati is owned by the VW group, so if they want to go and do it, they have the financial backing,
Ducati has spoken to some US teams but one told me the timeline for their entry was 2026 for US Supercross.
No chance this rumor for 2024 has any truth.

Ducati has poached F1 engineers to work on there motoGP aero packages, I think they have a couple bucks to throw around if they want.
As a ducati owner I approve of this rumor.!
this rumor is so ludicrous i couldn’t imagine it has any truth behind it .
