With all the talk of whether Ryan Dungey will retire either before or after the Outdoor season this year, I'm just wondering what you guys think he will do after his factory rider days are over. Do you think he'll go overseas to try his hand at the GP's? Do you think he'll stay on staff at KTM as a "Brand Ambassador" a la Andrew Short with Honda? Do you think he'll perhaps take Roger DeCoster's position as Team Manager? Do you think he'll become a KTM corporate guy doing a 9-5 job at their Cali headquarters? Or...will he simply retire as a wealthy young man to his lake home in Minnesota, with his lovely wife Lindsay and to a life of being a husband & Daddy?

He'll be a brand ambassador in some sense, but he'll move near the Belle Plane area. He won't be taking Roger's spot and won't be at KTM in a full-time sense.

When Roger steps down, his spot will either go to Ian Harrison or Ryan Morais (I'm guessing it'll be Ian, and Ryan will move to Ian's spot).

My guess would be that he moves back home, begins having a normal life, and starts having kids soon after. I predict that he will have very little involvement in MX and SX.

I was going to say exactly what Michael said.

He's bought himself a nice piece of land in Belle Plaine and is building a nice house there. The best thing that he ever did was Marrythe girl that he did. When he met her she was working at a diner he was eating at and she had no idea who he was until they were actually dating for a little while.

I think ( from my own observation / opinion ) that there is already a bun in the oven........going through it myself in recent years.... once you have one on the way......that will change things from when you are just " planning " to have kids..... I think they pulled the goalie and things are in process if you know what i mean..... I could be way off...but just have my own hunch.....

I think he's even mentioned in interviews he'd like to work and would maybe get involved with his dad's business or something. Either way he's gonna have a great happily ever after life that's for sure.

Move to California ? I am counting the days to get out . Love the weather , but not the rest. If they can squeeze another 1.00 a gallon to offset our carbon footprint like Gov Moonbeam is wanting... Back to the thread, I hope he retires in Minnesota , works in the family business and leads a happy long life with his wife and children (when they start).

His dad was in the concrete business and his brother owns some sort of business also (I don't recall if it was concrete or not). Seems I read or heard somewhere that he was willing and interested in getting into his brothers business.

His brother is a financial advisor, and yes that is the business he's interested in getting into.

Why do so many people think he'll race the GPs? He does not do well when he's uncomfortable. Racing GPs would be terrible. I bet he's gonna kick back and enjoy life now that he has enough money to never need another job.

He actually is building on Lake Minnetonka according to this video http://www.foxsports.com/motor/video/599239235933

Lake Minnetonka is where lots of $$$ is. Lots of CEOs and Execs have houses on the lake.

I don't know what he's going to do in the near future, but 15 or 20 years from now, he will be a U.S.senator from Minnesota. Stamp it!

All this Dungey retirement talk is starting to hit home. It just isn't gonna seem right not seeing Dunge line up each week. Financial Advisor? Seriously?! Well, at least his stats aren't going anywhere. It's been great being a fan!

It's a pipe dream. Not many top riders migrate that way across the pond and some people just dream to see a top rider go EURO.

I'm not one of those people btw. . .

Pretty sure his brother Blake has a graphic design and marketing company called Axel Solutions, and is not a financial advisor. Unless Lindsay has a brother that does that? His Dad and Grandfather have a concrete business. Ryan's other bro (Jade) works for KTM, and is married to Grant Langston's sister.

Edit: Some of Axel Solutions clients include Red Bull, KTM, Feld and St Jude

Michael, my thoughts, like yours and UpTiTe's are that he'll settle down with Lindsay into their new house on the lake, make babies & be "normal". But I do see him being a brand ambassador...maybe for Fox or KTM, so he'll have some contact with the sport, at least for awhile.

For some reason, I thought it was some kind of Investment Group. Anyways, that's he wants to go to work for.

DeCoster probably has enough money to retire as well, but loves the sport. Ryan would be the very best candidate to run the KTM team. Big, fast shoes to fill but Dungey is intelligent and well spoken - perfect fit.
