I don't confirm, but strongly believe it's pronounced like Lopez, based on my knowledge of the Portuguese language, which I learned when I was living in Brazil for a couple years. Lopes isn't a common name down there, at least where I was in São Paulo, but they do not really have a silent e like we do in the English language. I'm not a native speaker and do not know every rule, and it's been a decade since I've lived there, but I can still understand and speak Portuguese.

I believe this came up with Matthes last summer and if remember correctly it is pronounced Lopes.
