Goggle Lens Color

Looking to buy expense set of goggles [For Me, 100% Armega} and wondering what the color of lens you guys use. I ride in California and mainly 7 am till noon. I trail ride[Hollister] in the woods but do have a lot of bright sun in the open areas. Thanks for any help.

I like the mirrored lenses for bright days and clear lenses for overcast days. I feel like my eyes adjust to anything, so I don't really have a favorite color.

I'd look for a set of Oakley airbrakes on sale with the Prizm lens. They're great for both bright and low-light conditions. I recently picked up a couple of pairs for $99 each from BTO. Was using Scott prospects previously but these are my new favorite.

You might like the red lenses from people like 100%. It blocks bright sun but doesn’t blind you in the shade.

I’ve always just ran clear. I’ve tried almost every lens make under the sun and never felt like they were worth the money. The Oakley Prizm lenses are nice but I can’t justify the cost for a replacement. I just use 100%s and pay $10 for a lens.

I like the transition lenses personally, work well for woods with open areas. Scott is making them again.

The hiper lenses work great in low light and are good in the bright areas too. I race hare scrambles and I usually run a hiper lens but the standard blue lens works well too if you want to save a few bucks.

Pssst...over here...

I bought some Airbrakes at MotoSport a coupl’a days ago for $80 w/smoke-grey lenses(that’s 1/2 price). Also went back, yesterday, & bought some O-.Frames for $20/Clear and $30/Prizm for “forgetters” when I go riding...with friends...that have CRAP goggles or they forgot them.

If I’m not mistaken, I saw some 100% on-sale, too.

Get some of those new fangled lenses that auto tint. My sensitive eyes like them a lot espescially if it’s really sunny that day then when you hit the woods they will lighten back up

Mine are Scott prospects but I imagine you could find a brand you like that makes them

I think it’s personal preference. I personally don’t like lenses that have some kind of colors, so it’s clear lens pretty much all around for me, with a silver/platinum lens in the gear bag for really bright days.

I have those. They are not good for woods racing for me because in the open they darken up and then you dive back into the woods and can’t see well for a few seconds.

You need a clear lens for the woods. For track up to you. If you buy Armegas the hiper lens is nice and they are pretty easy to change out to a clear if you need to ride in deep woods.

Clear lens for me. I've tried all the fancy stuff, never liked any of it. Only time I used a tinted lens is snow skiing while it is suny out.

I always ride with 100% clear lenses. I just tape an old lens to my visor to extent it a little when its really sunny. Works great for me

For woods riding I almost always use a clear lens it seems like. For more desert-ish stuff I like smoke color unless it is really dark overcast.

Hollister is certainly woods but also pretty open and bright and sunny a lot of the year....good luck! Tongue

i run clear yellow for night practice not the mirrored yellow or “works yellow.” it’s something i picked up growing up in AZ as you can pick up the shadows better since the lighting isn’t consistent. They also work in the sun, look at competitive shooters and they usually wear yellow lenses, that being said i prefer the scott “works yellow” for bright sunny conditions.
