Weave Started a new thread Passing under Yellow

What are the rules for passing under a yellow flag? Reed passed Millsaps in a section littered with yellow flags Saturday night. Reed entered the section 2 bike lengths behind, and a yellow flag to his immediate left. He then tripled past Millsaps right next to the accident scene. I thought passing under yellow was a rule violation, but I...

Unfortunately, taxing the wealthiest 1% solves very little. In fact, if the top earners contributed 100% of their income to taxes, we would still have an unmanagable burden on the US government. In a nutshell, the Fed will continue to spend itself into oblivion. Attacking the tax structure is like trying to control a rattlesnake by grabbing its tail: you're...

What do the income graphs above represent? Yes, there is a disproportionate shift in income, but what does that tell us? Are the wealthy getting wealthier at the expense of the poor, or does it reflect the ever-increasing ability to achieve wealth over the past 30 years? The positive side of the charts indicate that more people are reaching higher...

Weave Added a reply to Tony Alessi Team Manager?

In any business, having two "masters" eventually dissolves into a combat of wills. From Mike & Jeff's persepective, they are reporting to both Tony and MCR Boss (whether MIke or a to-be-named manager). It is only a matter of time before this dual allegiance takes its toll on the organization. Tony may have his marching orders in hand today, but...

Fuel injection will also widen the gap between 2T and 4T. The FI systems on off-road bikes today are very basic when compared to their 4-wheeled brethren, yet they still make carburetion look like a stone-aged technology. Advanced electronics with infinite adjustability + some version of traction control will soon create 450s with a usable 60+ HP. It's not that...

It's not Boise State's team that keeps the BCS conference invites away; it's their market share. They simply do not have the fan base to drive revenue. Their occassional appearance on national television makes for great entertainment, but bringing them into a major conference is a risk, as BSU's allure would quickly fade if they could not keep pace with...

Well, I guess your world sucks, Nerd. Certainly glad I'm not swimming in your circles. And way to throw the racism card. Pretty candy-ass, and expected. I've met my share of whiners, but you, sir, take it to another level. Good luck with that. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a wonderful life to resume. See ya, Vital... Weave

Anyone do band training (with the tubes and thin elastic straps)? When coupled with weights, they provide a higher level of endurance and flexibility. For a good time, find someone with no band training experience and watch them go from "this is easy!" to eyes welling with tears in about 30 seconds...

I'm reading a lot of negative statements about how the US manages its federal programs and distributes wealth. All have merit, but there's no magic switch to flip and correct these "problems". Pointing to other nations and saying "they're doing it right" is like putting up a screen door during a hurricane: it might make you feel better, but it...

Numbers, man, numbers. We have more uninsured people than Canada has...people. Which also means we have 250M+ insured people. Plus the demographics don't work in the US. If we started a national program 100 years ago, maybe it could be sustainable today. But we're too far behind the curve to "catch up", so to speak. Plus Canadians are healthier. There...

Excellent points, Nerd. While the wealth disparity in 1780's France was vastly different than the US today, your comparisons still hold true. I'm somewhat leery about "giving" the less fortunate anything beyond basic subsistence. Most lower income individuals have always lived hand-to-mouth, and know little about savings and investments. Since their environment is one of "easy come, easy go", government...
On and Off Topic: will the 2010 YZ450F improve James' performance? The somewhat-mythological YamaBog was an alleged culprit at A1 last year (gone with EFI), and judging by James' results at the US Open, he looks more comfortable on the new bike (especially in corners, where he could pivot the YZ like a two-stroke). While Chad is riding the 450...

So what does Mr. Franklin's quote mean? Limits to property ownership? Compensation caps? Redistribution of wealth? If so, who sets the bar? The current progressive tax structure already enforces redistribution to some degree. What defines "conservation of the individual and the propagation of the species"? As a "property owner" with 1.2 acres, do I possess more than what's required? What...

Coincidentally, that's the same price as a grapefruit in Tokyo... An MRI might be the only affordable thing in Japan, which has a much higher cost of living than the US. PS: an MRI under my plan is $50

Wow. And it's still the other guy's fault. So what if it is? What are YOU going to do about it? I live in the US and am subject to the same rules and conditions as everyone else here. And you know what? My health care insurance is awesome! Do you know why? It's because I didn't waste the past...
