Skywagon Started a new thread Value of MX Back Issues?
1/27/2012 7:28pm I have a collection of back issues from Motocross Action, RacerX, Dirt Rider, and Transworld MX. Likely starting in 2000/2001 through 2009 for all magazines. Full years for all. Not a lot of action on eBay in the past for full years of these magazines. Do these have legitimate value? My wife says that these have to go. I admit...

Skywagon Started a new thread Metcalfe Cases Triple @ Indy
1/24/2012 11:56pm Did anyone get a shot/video of Brett Metcalfe casing the triple at Indy in his qualifier? He absolutely came to a stop when he hit case the third jump - the triple before the start straight. He recovered quickly with more laps without stopping - I was shocked given his ankle injury. He obviously came back for the main. I...

Skywagon Started a new thread Sharpening Titanium Pegs
1/20/2012 10:11am Does anyone have any good tips or techniques for sharpening Titanium pegs? I have a set of 3 year old Pro Circuit Ti pegs where I need a bit more bite. Angle grinder? What sort of material? Hand file? Other ideas?

Skywagon Started a new thread Indy SX Pit Passes?
1/18/2012 4:00am I've looked around but can't seem to find a way to get pit passes for the Indy SX. I would appreciate any tips.

Skywagon Added a reply to SX/MX mechanic salary?
12/3/2011 3:09pm Here is last year's Salary Survey from Purdue. Page 2 covers Engineering degrees. https://www.cco.purdue.edu/common/SalaryMay10.pdf MEs: 107 reporting with low of $33K, Average $57K, High $95K. Chem-E, Nuc's, EE, and C-EE seem to still carry the highest average starting salary. My company is hiring as many undergrad Purdue engineers that we can get and we are north of $60K on average...

Skywagon Added a reply to J Law news
5/14/2010 2:19pm Too bad. When he was on...he was fun to watch. I wish that he would have turned things around - perhaps a out-of-jail sabbatical from MX is required. A little time off, living like a normal working-man, might cause him to reflect on things before it is too late to make a full career of MX. Step 1: Call Dungey...

Skywagon Added a reply to So...what if Pourcel was riding like Barcia?
3/22/2010 2:53pm The tipping point will be reached when Barcia is always winning. Right now, he is still the underdog and everyone likes the aggressive riding - he gets a pass. If he believes that he deserves the lead, then our attitude changes. A few of Pourcel's recent actions seem to be more retaliation than aggressively trying to get to the front...

Skywagon Added a reply to What's really wrong with Windham?
4/17/2016 8:58pm Overall SX win record is pretty darn good when you look at the other names on the list. http://www.motorsportsetc.com/stats/st_sxwin.htm Kevin may not be the greatest, but he is one of the greats.
Skywagon Added a reply to ACL replacement
1/25/2010 12:56pm I had mine done and while cadaver was an option, we went with the "gold standard" of a graft from my own tissue (in my case, we took it from the same leg's patela tendon). The graft from the tendon is more trauma than the ACL replacement and thus inhibits recovery a bit. However, I followed the rules and as...
Skywagon Added a reply to Now that Reed is out..
4/17/2016 8:09pm Obviously contact/commercial considerations will be a big factor but knowing nothing else, Byner seems like the logical fit vs. the Byrne-to-JGR rumor: 1. Already on a Kawasaki 2. Can keep his current (gear) sponsors 3. Can migrate back to his current privateer model without losing a step (may even gain some factory support in the end) Sounds like a plan.
Skywagon Added a comment about feature Product Blog: New Bell Helmet?
1/16/2010 5:49am Looks good. Not a lot of plastic vent covers that crack or break. Not a crazy amount of rubber on the upper chin guard (not sure why that trend continues - Thor, TLD SE2, etc).

Skywagon Added a reply to ARC vs. Works Connection (vs. Magura) ?
4/17/2016 7:42pm I've run WC, ASV, and now ARC. All are good, but ARC is the best of the group. ZERO slop. Super tight and just a great feel. I've got an RC8 (with no hot start) clutch, an ARC brake lever, and an ARC front brake clamp. I don't think that I'll run anything else after trying this setup. Buy the...
Skywagon Added a reply to Under-insured Riders
12/23/2009 6:57am Exactly the primary concern. When the government gets control of the insurance system they may choose to deny coverage based on activities that are not deemed appropriate - like CO2 emitting MX riding (or other "high risk" activies like Scuba Diving, Snowmobiling, Private Aviation, Hunting/Shooting - all of my favorite things). A great card to have if you want to...
Skywagon Added a reply to ASV C5 levers!!
12/8/2009 8:22pm Agree. Best levers. I've had ASVs on my previous bikes but I'm never going back.
Skywagon Added a reply to Anyone looking for a 2010 yamaha 450
12/4/2009 5:45am $6800 out the door. All "fees" attached but no tax however. So I guess I was providing some profit to my poor dealer. Irony is, it wasn't very hard to get to $6800 - they were quick to accept my offer. With a bit more patience and shopping on my part, I suspect that I could have done better. Bought...
Skywagon Added a reply to So Mike got the boot cause Tony can't respect The Man! (which means SteveM was right about Tony all along!)
12/3/2009 3:56pm Does this effectively box Mike out of future MXdN Team USA consideration?
