smoking deal @ $7500 LOL

I paid $5650 for a new in the crate 2009 KX450F, and it was "all new with FI"
I like what I have seen and heard about the 2010 YZ450F.... but Yamaha wont be getting $7500+ from me. I cant see it being worth $2000 more than a KX or RMZ

Yeah, but the cost per pound is where the value lies.

$7,500 is a great deal, considering MSRP is above that. He probably only made $100 or so off the deal, the difference between cost and MSRP on MX bikes is usually about $1000, so after title and tax he didn't make much.

Pretty much a no-brainer that left over models can be had for a better deal than the current year models.
When retail for all of the 2010 450's is about $7900, I'd think $7500 out the door is pretty reasonable.

Said he paid $7500 for it, maybe a stretch on my part to assume that was a true OTD price...dunno?

Even if not, $7500 plus tax and such would put the OTD price in the same price range as suggested retail for 2010 450s. Retail on a 2010 KX450F is $8049.00 and I'd think the redesigned YZ would be a more sought out model.

how much different is the 2010 kx from the 09? with the money saved buying a leftover probably could make up for any differences..

Sought out...I would think so, but maybe buying a holdover 09 KX, at our amateur level, would pay better.

Kawi had generous contingency last year. Anybody heard from either brand, yet?

No word from anyone on contigency that I have heard. I have a feeling big cutbacks from Kawasaki. I know one promoter here in Illinois that was part of a 4 race series said Kaw dropped them.

For me I am looking at some leftover 09's as there are some sweet deals out there. At this point I am looking at about all brands. We have been Kaw for several years but at the end of the day they all are capable bikes. I saw where a guy got a 2009 YZ250f for like 4k, that is unreal.

$7500 is a good deal for a 2010 YZ450 at the moment.

Come on. How are all of these guys (including me) buying 2009s in early 2009 for $6800 or less and all of those dealers must be losing money? There is much more margin than $100 on top of $7500. Just guessing based on my buying experience. I don't things have changed too dramatically for 2010 other than perhaps lower inventory balanced by lower demand. Same deals (or better) to be had for 2010s is my guess.

I do agree that if you are anxious for a 2010 YZF450, $7500 might be a reasonable price to pay TODAY provided there is not the obligatory $100 "setup", $100 "doc fee", other fees to be added to that.

$6800 out the door? I know for a fact that cost was nearly exactly $1000 less than MSRP on the 09 Honda and Kawi. After my employee discount, which is a set couple hundred bucks over cost plus tax and title, I paid around $7,300-$7,400 for my kawi. If you're getting them out the door for $6,800, then that is a few hundred over cost, so yes, he is either losing money or not making any if you got it that cheap. $6,400 plus 10% tax and lets say a $50 title fee is $7090.

$6800 out the door. All "fees" attached but no tax however. So I guess I was providing some profit to my poor dealer. Irony is, it wasn't very hard to get to $6800 - they were quick to accept my offer. With a bit more patience and shopping on my part, I suspect that I could have done better. Bought 2009 CRF450R in February 2009.

How do the dealers sell left over models for less than their cost?

The OEM manufacturers give dealers a rebate on the left over models after they are sold so the dealer can move the old product out of inventory to make room for the current model. Some dealers slash prices so they loose money just so they can cut their losses just to get the model off of their flooring. Dealers have to pay the interest every month on the models sitting in the whse and on the show room floors.

The YZ450F on the other hand is a hot seller.....unless you have a really good relationship with the dealer expect to pay full pop.

People don't understand that the dealers have to pay flooring per bike per day on every bike after a certain amount of time sometimes a month sometimes more, all of the bikes in the shop and all of the bikes they have at warehoues like D&D.

Dealers need to get rid of leftover bikes because every day they have a new bike in the possession it is actually costing them money.

This is a bummer, from RacerX:

2010 YZ450F Stolen in Northern California (Colfax)

Some scumbags slimed into my garage and stole my new 2010 YZF 450 and my 2000 jeep.

I would really appreciate any help in catching these thieves. The YZ is a brand new white one with no miles on it. (I bought it then had to go out of town for a week) The bike is as new - or was..

The jeep is a 2000 Wrangler fully set up for off-road. Warn wench, bumpers, skids, gears, rubicon long arm> The jeep is grey with a black hard top.

They also stole (2) matching blue and white Shoei helmets for the street one is XL and the other - my wife's is medium or large. (2) Arai dirt motocross helmets one is grey camo color and the other in a red and white Kevin Windom replica.

Thanks in advance for any help in catching these thieves.

This is a small town and we will find them.
