I haven't been to a restaurant in a long time too so i have no observations of dogs there. I like dogs and have never seen any bad behavior by a dog in a store. I'll tell you what does irritate me, people walking their dog on the bike/walking path with one of those long retractable leashes. The dog is wondering all over the place and I never know if the dog is going to decide to run in front of me when i am riding my bicycle by. It used to happen when i jogged all the time too...

The intimidation and tough guy factor is the draw, then they want to pretend it doesn't exist or can be trained out of them. Just baffling to me, I don't understand what the argument is for choosing the breed that comes with increased risk and no clear upside to justify that.

My dog goes with me places. When I lived in Austin, he went into bars and at restaurants we sat outside. That being said, he is a smaller dog at 15lbs and extremely well mannered. All of you hating on animals and trying to dictate where they can and can't go? It isn't your world, and you don't make the laws. Allergic to dogs? Take a pill like you normally do every single day for allergies. I couldn't care less for everyone complaining. K

I don't know what the data shows now but at one time it was something like pits accounted for 10% of dog pets but 90% of bite incidents requiring medical attention. TM

9/7/2026 8:19am Man, that is absolutely horrible. I did not know a lot of that data. I have heard some horror stories as well about the breed but figured it was all in how you raise them. It seems they have a predisposed personality for violence and aggression.

Sydney also had "therapy dog" training. So she's been places to brighten people's day that otherwise would be miserable.
