8/1/2025 11:30am The items that are on the shelf today, were shipped into distributors weeks or months ago, and then take time to get to the dealers and end user. Also there is a lot of markup on gear from its raw state to the finished retail price. Its not as simple as everything going up the same amount as the tariff. If anything the amount it goes up by tells you more about the raw unbranded products wholesale costs . The price of gear includes what they pay racers to wear it, liability insurance, advertising, reps pay, etc. So much goes...

8/1/2025 10:57am You do realize that despite inflation going down, the costs still went up, right? They're now 2.7% higher than the 7-9% higher they were previously (per your example). So if something was $1 at the beginning, then 9% inflation came along, it then cost $1.09. Then 2.7% came along and now it costs $1.12 (it doesn't now cost $1.03). So can you explain how the inflation numbers support your price gouging argument?

8/1/2025 8:05am “You have very visible beneficiaries—steel workers whose jobs are saved, perhaps temporarily. But the costs are invisible: dispersed among millions who pay higher prices and have fewer choices. That’s the political logic of tariffs.” - Milton Friedman.

8/1/2025 8:05am Felt like pissing in the wind today so here goes: what do you think you can buy that will not become more expensive for US customers due to tariffs? My guess is that's a pretty short list but please have a go. Made in USA does not necessarily mean you can escape cost increase due to tariff: you might not directly pay the tax on some items but in the process of making it, the supplier certainly is, and he still needs to make money, right? Raw materials are taxed (which items are made with 100% US materials?), manufacturing tools...

7/31/2025 11:59pm "Tariffs are harmful not only because they raise prices and restrict trade, but because they encourage government intervention and economic nationalism, which are the antithesis of freedom." - Milton Friedman. You realise your President is an economic nationalist right?

7/31/2025 10:05pm There aren’t 2 sides. There are hundreds of differing opinions and perspectives. Any adult wearing a t shirt or hat with their favorite politician on it like a sports team is a kook. On “either” side. We’re all humans and there aren’t sides. There are Americans living in America with different lifestyles and cultures and interests and we should all want each other to be successful, happy and stable. Everybody needs to quit trying to stick it to each other and admit that the people they idolized are weirdos and liars and don’t have working class folks best interest in...

7/31/2025 8:00pm Common ground will be found about the same time Jett Lawrence signs for Bultaco. We are as divided as they come, and as much as it hurts to say it I do not see it getting any better for a long time.

7/31/2025 6:38pm You do realize R&D, marketing/athlete sponsorship, and day to day operating costs are rolled into the cost of that "50 dollar helmet" don't you? Might be $50 to actually manufacture, but I bet the margins aren't as big as you think they are when factoring in all of the above.

7/31/2025 2:20pm I know people say it's time but I feel sorry for Roger. In any of his interviews when they talk about the MXoNs you can see he gets emotional. He clearly has stated many times this race means more than any other race to him.

7/31/2025 2:18pm Will be interesting to see how their prices develop going forward. Because they can manufacture in the US but they're still likely getting 80+% of raw material from other countries and pay tariffs on those.

7/31/2025 2:01pm It's no one's fault, it's simply that American companies are not able to compete with other overseas companies. That's free market capitalism.
